With cards I just keep them as a set in Ziploc bags and hand them out to everyone as we approach the Mickey head and they know to give them back as soon as they've scanned (or wait for the second check point if applicable). Pretty much my rule with anyone I take (I'm frequently also using other family member's AP cards for extra pre-booked FPP's as well) is "If I hand you a card, use it. If I don't, use your MB". But really, if you mess up, it's not a big deal. Just grab the other set and use it then (or have people tap their other MB if they're wearing two). CM's won't care as long as it then turns green.
Crazier indeed... You got my vote, but not sure that'll count for much since I'm Canadian!Glad it's helped. I've found a lot of golden tips on the DIS through the years.
Wish I were a scientist, but no such luck. But I am thinking of running for president. Crazier things have happened.
Okay, good to hear. I missed that you had two sets. And yes, you can get 4th and further SDFP's from the kiosks just like in the old days. However, these days there is hardly ever anyone at the kiosk so no lines at least! And of course you need to be in the actual park you want the FP's for. Your best bet is to just think of any SDFP's you get as a bonus but be sure you have everything covered that you "must" ride on your main MDE booked in advance.Crazier indeed... Marciemi, I have two sets of non-clone cards (so 8 in total) for my family of four, so it would be great to be able to use them both in one park, or break them up into 3 FPs for first park, and 3 for second park. I understand how 4th FP works, but I wasn't clear on whether we could get more FPs if needed at the kiosk - one at a time - using the non-cloned cards, if there was a need. Truly not sure we will need them... really more curious. Might come in handy for Illuminations or one of those nighttime shows we would rarely waste our ticketed 3 FPs on.
Thanks ladies!
I splurged at the Disney store and bought 4 character magic bands and I'm going to register them to my husband's MDE (that is not linked to MDE). If I book a bounceback I can always use his MDE acct. when I book so we get to use the character magic bands at our next trip.

You can use them for all park days not just the first few days.We have a trip booked for September for 10 days. It is linked under my MDE along with our park hopper tickets. FPs are made, everything is linked, magicbands are ordered. Life is good.
A family friend had some DVC points that were going to expire and booked us one night at the Grand Floridian in the middle of our 10 night stay. THis reservation was made under DH name (the first reservation for 10 days is in MY name). Anyways, we linked this stay at the GF under my DHs MDE which is not linked to my MDE. We will be getting separate magic bands for this one night stay at VGF. Since there is no ticket associated with THESE bands, can these be used to book SDFP when we are at the parks the first few days? They are just MBs to open the door to the VGF room and to access the resort. Thanks for any help!!
Thank you so much for this super informative thread! Just when i think i've mastered the Fast Pass system i learn something new! I'm about to link our vouchers for our Military Salute 4 day hoppers for our upcoming October trip so i want to be certain i have this figured out before i link tickets and can't undo something.
We have booked a throwaway room on my mom's MDE profile (that we will not cancel but will just not actually sleep in since we're military and stay at Shades of Green) so I'm assuming i need to link the vouchers to her MDE profile in order to be able to use the 60 day window. My mom and I have linked MDE accounts but I have my own MDE profile. I found 8 non cloned tickets that i've linked to phantom accounts under my MDE account. Well 5 were not yet on MDE but 3 were linked to people who won't be traveling with us and/or are profiles that I control and my Mom does not have control over. Based on my reading I can use all 8 of those for SDFP. I just want to be certain that when i link a ticket to my MDE profile by selecting myself from my Mom's MDE profile since I'm on the hotel reservation as a guest with my MDE profile name and character picture that it won't somehow cause an issue with using the phantom accounts on my MDE profile. I don't believe it will since they aren't part of the hive but want to be sure.
Additionally, my sister whose account I control has a day left on a 6 day hopper so i believe i can make up to 6 days worth of GLFPs on my account for her at the 30 day mark. It also sounds like if I select myself since I will be on the room reservation and also select my sister's profile that I control she may also be extended the 60 day window for the hopper with the remaining days for GLFP. Is that right?
Apologies if i missed this exact scenario in the FAQ and pages of questions and answers but with so many moving parts and pieces i want to be sure that I have this worked out right in my mind!
When you say you have the 8 non-cloned tickets, you're talking about the plastic cards, right? They aren't valid tickets anymore? If they're not cloned, you can use them for SDFP. The plastic cards don't need to be linked to profiles. Only MagicBands have to have been linked before they work at the kiosks. The cards will work whether linked or not.
Not sure what you mean when you say "I just want to be certain that when i link a ticket to my MDE profile by selecting myself from my Mom's MDE profile since I'm on the hotel reservation as a guest with my MDE profile name and character picture that it won't somehow cause an issue with using the phantom accounts on my MDE profile." You and your mom are friends via your MDEs. Your profile is "you" whether you sign into your own MDE or her MDE. So your band from the throwaway room will be a clone of any other bands or cards you have, if you've selected yourself as one of the room guests. You should do any voucher linking through your own MDE. But anything you link to yourself on your MDE will be visible as an entitlement or clone on your profile as it appears on your mom's MDE. And nothing you link to your own profile will have any effect on other profiles.
The other issue is your sister's hopper. If you and she are friends via your MDEs, you can book GLFP for her card/band at 60 days if you select one of the resort guests along with your sister. Let us know how many days of FP the system will allow you to book for her. It might be one day, it might be six - there's no guarantee!
I've looked for this answer but can't seem to find it... Have people had any luck using FP kiosks before park opening? We have an AK breakfast at 8 (to try to ride FEA) and it would be amazing if we could stop at the kiosk on our way. Otherwise it may be pretty late by the time we hit the kiosk since I don't want to lose my spot in the FEA line!
Anyone know? I have several pre-park opening breakfasts scheduled too.
I don't know about the other parks, but we were at MK on Tuesday for a PPO breakfast. The kiosks in City Hall were open at that time, so we stopped by on our way to BOG. Nobody was at either kiosk, so it only took a couple of minutes - we still made our 8 am breakfast on time, even after stopping for castle pictures.![]()

So I've read through the FAQ a couple times now... I have old tickets from 2014 that have the white circle Mickey on the front and an icon on the back that I am guessing is the RFID symbol (emitting black rectangle with a "c"). If these are viable SDFP options, what is the down side of using expired cards as opposed to "non-linked" magic bands? Can I assign these cards to phantom account in my MDE? If not, are you only able to manage these SDFP's solely at a kiosk?
Thanks in advance for any guidance and apologies if these were covered in the FAQ...
No SDFP can be managed online. Only at a kiosk.
