SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

Cards don't have to be assigned. It's better not to assign them. It's MagicBands that have to be assigned/linked to a profile (not your primary profile, of course) before they'll work at the kiosks.

There is no difference between using an expired card versus a non-clone (but linked!) MagicBand. Either one will give you SDFP.

No SDFP can be managed online. Only at a kiosk.

Awesome... Thanks for clarifying. I think I knew they couldn't be managed online but I got confused trying to digest it all... I should be good to go now. Can you verify if the card I described is RFID enabled? If not I'll pick some up from eBay or elsewhere... Thanks again.

If you have a MB or card that is on an MDE though you'll at least be able to see the FPP's you make on your phone. But either way as ScrapYap says, you'll only be able to make changes at a kiosk. If you do use a card that you can't view through your (or another) MDE, be sure to take a picture of any FPP's you make while still at the kiosk, BEFORE hitting the "I'm done for now" button (I swear I always remember that about a split second too late and then need to scan the card again to pull up the FPP's for a pic).

Excellent advice. Now if I can just remember to do it... Thanks for you help.

A 2014 ticket should have the small circled Mickey head on the back of the card, in the middle of the bottom of the card. Be sure it's not listed on the MagicBands and Cards page of your MDE. (Don't be looking for the number on the Reservations and Tickets page - it won't be there.)

Hi all,

I bought a new set of magicbands from the Disney store that i'm going to assign them to the new MDE account I set up with my husband's name/email. I know I should make sure that the names are not exactly the same (so Disney does not merge the two accounts) by using both first and middle names for me and the kids - this will be hard as DH does not have a middle name.

I know once you assign a magicband to a person in a MDE account it cannot be changed/reassigned at all, but my question is, can the name on the magicband be changed on the account once a magicband is assigned to it? For example if I put ""Pat" as DH's name instead of "Patrick" (so the names are not exactly the same and our MDE accounts do not get merged by Disney) can I change it back to "Patrick"?

DH might book a bounceback on his new MDE account, so he may not be able to use Pat his nickname on his MDE account booking.

Thanks for any help with this,
Marina :-)

The accounts shouldn't get merged - but it could happen. Or it could happen due to system updates in the future. So it's a precaution, but it's not absolutely necessary to keep the names different on the two MDEs. Using the middle names in addition to the first names isn't much good, because the first names will still appear identically. You should use only the middle names. How about using the Gaelic version "Padraig" for your husband since he has no middle name?

While you can't get a band off a profile, you can change the name on the profile. So yes, you can change a name on a profile as many times as you like.

Just before booking the bounceback, change the name on Pat or Padraig's profile back to Patrick - and change all the other names from the middle names to the first names on his MDE. Then go into your MDE (which this year's reservation is booked on) and change all the names to the middle names. That way, your husband's MDE will be your primary MDE next year - though your MDE is the primary MDE this year.

If I am using expired cards linked to a second MDE, if I scan the card associated with the primary person on the MDE, can I make SDFP for all the cards at the kiosk or will I have to swipe each card and make the SDPF one at the time?

See my post #3 on the first page that illustrates this. The first time each day you will need to swipe all of the cards, but can then make the FPP's for everyone at once.

I want to be sure I have this right. I just ordered 4 expired cards from ebay. This type will work for SDFP, right? image.jpg

Am I correct that I don't link these to anyone, real or phantom? I just need to scan them at a kiosk, choose SDFP, and then take a pic of the screen since I won't be able to see them on the MDE app. Will I need to complete the entire process for each individual card or will it let me scan all 4 cards to "load" them prior to choosing our SDFP?

ETA: I see that my last question was just answered as I was posting.

Can we use tickets that are part of someone's room+ticket package to make GLFPs outside of the window of that package?

(My friend has a bounce-back free dining reservation including 7-day Park Hoppers booked for December 2017. Can I use those tickets to make 7 days' worth of GLFPs for February 2017? Or would I only be able to use those tickets to make GLFPs for the days in December 2017 my friend has a hotel reservation?)

Great thread! I have read and read and have a question.

My second MDE has a different primary owner and a different email address. My friends and family are the same.

Is there any possibility my two MDE accounts would be auto linked ? What auto links MDE accounts together ?

Those cards should be perfect. You don't have to link them - they will work as they are. And you might not be able to link them if you try - you may get a message saying that they've already been linked to another profile. But why not try it and see? If you can link them, you should be able to see the SDFP on your MDE (though you can't make changes to them there, as Marcie keeps finding). If you can't link them, because they were previously linked, it won't matter for SDFP purposes - except you'll have to be careful to take a photo of the screen before you walk away from the kiosk, since the phantom cards won't show up on your MDE.

It would be interesting to try it. If you include a Feb '17 resort guest (who also has a park ticket) in the FP booking party with one of your friend's profiles, you should be able to umbrella the window over the friend for FP (GLFP!) in February. But the umbrella function is starting to change. It no longer works on Halloween Party guests who are not on the reservation. At least, not at 60 days out. Do you have your reservation and tickets already? If so, you could experiment for temporary FP/GLFP in September, for instance. (Then cancel them right after you see if it works.)
There should be no danger of messing up any of her plans - because it will be too soon for her own FP to be booked. And you couldn't accidentally enter a park with her bands, because the tickets won't be active until Dec.

Let us know if it works. It should work. But there is a chance that the system won't let you book GLFP because of the package restrictions.

Knowing the ONLY thing that can auto link two MDE experiences together is using the same email address, what if I put my DVC membership on both in order to get the MNSSHP ticket discount? Will that cause a problem with MDE ?

This is a bit confused. It's impossible to set up two MDEs under one email address. The system will only allow one MDE per email address.

There is currently no such thing as "auto linking" or auto merging of MDEs. But this will happen eventually - in a few years. So it's a good practice to avoid the same primary names on two MDEs to avoid problems in the future. Though eventually, most of the SDFP loophole will close. GLFP may continue to work longer.

As far as your DVC membership goes, the system shouldn't allow you to link it to more than one MDE - only to the MDE with the email address associated with your membership.

Will your friend be using her own FP entitlements in December 2017? That's the only time you'll be able to use GLFPs off of her packaged tickets.

Her "packaged" tickets aren't active until the day she checks into her resort. She can only activate them up to 10 days early if she is onsite and requests the activation at Guest Relations. Her tickets won't be available to you or to her for February 2017 - that's the drawback of having a package.

So there are huge package restrictions. You're sure the entitlement won't allow GLFP, Hiro - the way an AP voucher, for instance, can?

There's no possible way, unfortunately, because the tickets in that specific "package" won't open the FP booking window. The window only opens due to the "package" and not the tickets because they aren't active.

Guests who have room-only > onsite packaged split stays can't book for any park days prior to the actual check-in date of the package. Digitally, the entitlements don't exist - it's only the complete "package" that exists and opens the 60-day window.

I thought the inactive aspect of the package tickets wouldn't matter - because a voucher isn't active, either, yet it acts as an entitlement. And the 60-day window could be opened by an umbrella. Though not if the package tickets simply don't exist as an entitlement. But they must. How do they appear on an MDE under Reservations and Tickets, in advance of 60 days?

Prior to the 60-day booking window opening, the MDE account holder may show as having a package but the remainder of the party doesn't show up.

When packaged guests attempt to "practice" book prior to their booking window opening, the FP warning is that they "must have tickets linked to their account."

When MM+ first began, those with packages had the fully open 60 days + length of stay FP booking window. Then it was tweaked and they can now only book from check-in date through check-out date when their FP booking window opens - tickets are inactive until actual check-in date. Such a major drawback for the packaged guests.

Is there a benefit to using an extra magic band with tickets added vs. a plastic card to make GLFP?
Could I ask my resort for plastic cards for the tickets as if they are for people in our party staying off property?
