Scrapping With SWAP Items - Round 14 - AND THE WINNER IS.......(see post #103)

Very nice- I remember both those swaps- I did the castle shaker on the first set of pages- one of the first swaps I was in and the November calendar pages. I glad they are getting used.

Rebecca

I will be heading down to WDW tomorrow morning for a long weekend. If anyone posts any layouts while I'm gone, I will update the tally on the first post when I return Monday night.

Have a great weekend!

I did those February elements - I've nearly finished my 2008 book, just ordered the pics to do December (that's what I use my calendar swaps for:thumbsup2 )

Crazy question...
Did we say we could count the premade pages as 1 entry? Can't remember, slept since than! LOL

If so, I hope to have several to post by tomorrow!!!!

I think they count :thumbsup2 I'm sure Rebecca did some for an earlier round. But you only count them onthe annual challenge once - wither the ones you make or the ones you complete.

Yep, I knew the latter part... I only count them once my photos go on...that is how I got my big numbers in december due to the ABC 8x8 swap!!! :)

Thanks!!! I have one stack done, and another stack ready to go..and I'm actually making a small dent into our 2008 Disney trip!!! Ok, off to get chores done so I can scrap about 1pm...

I used my items from the first AK swap I did and Little Bit's from the T'n'T one.

These also were from the first AK swap. I know hopemax did the squares & paper piecing, but I don't remember who made the topper'n'tag from the first swap of that kind.

These are from 123SA.

That makes four more for me. :)

Great job!!

I'll be on the board tomorrow.. I need to photograph the ones I completed yesterday/today!!! I'm so excited!!! :)

Plus I need to start kitting more together!!!

Cool:thumbsup2 Kitting is definitely the way to go.
Thanks Rebecca for showing me your system.

Here is one more page, thanks to hopemax

And, I have put all my pages into their appropriate albums. :woohoo:

I've got my pages in a 12x12 3-drawer chest... it has completed DISNEY pages, completed pages and kitted pages! LOL

I want to learn more about kitting. Who wants to teach me? Any volunteers?

I can help you.

These are the steps I take.

1. I gather my photos- I generally choose a specific theme (a disney park, Christmas or other holiday, school, ect). This may be digitally or with actual photos depending on what I have.
2. I divide the photos into the pages they will go on.
3. If I want typed journalling on the pages I will note the topics of the pages in a list I can bring to the computer. I will also add to this page any titles I want to print/cut out for the pages.
4. I pull out swap items that match my theme- so I would pull out my school swap if doing school photos and maybe things from a color swap. I add any swap items to the piles of each pages.
5. I look at the colors in my photos and choose a background paper (solid or patterned) and 2 colors or patterns for accents.
6. If I have any other special embellishments for the pages then I will add them to the stack with the photos. I put each set in a pocket of my 12 by 12 file folder or in a 2 gallon ziplock bag. Sometimes I will put the layout photos/embellishments in a quart bag and then put them layered between background and accent paper in groups of 5-6 layouts in a 2 gallon bag.
7. Once I type journaling and print it out as well as creating any title I need I add them to the bags.
8. When I am ready to scrap I grab a bag and then just have to mat things and glue them down.

If you have any more questions about a step let me know. I can try and take photos the next time I kit pages.

Rebecca

Thank you Rebecca.
Do you make mats ahead of time to go into the kits?
How many kits do you have at one time?
It seems you do so many pages and so quickly, too. Would you mind showing me a couple of pages from a Disney book?
Does it go faster once youve been in several swaps and you have more to work with than just your own things?
I was looking at the list and I have been doing similar things that are on the list. I think after we get the weird swap back I will try doing it your way with my AK book.
I have at least 900 photos from Italy I want to do this year and if I do nothing else, that is my goal for the year. That and finishing WDW. And I have about 6 trips to Dl we wont even talk about!:scared1:
So anything that will help speed things up, even a little, will be helpful.
Thanks again!

Thank you Rebecca.
Do you make mats ahead of time to go into the kits?I don't, I may add mats that are already made- for swaps or that I ight have made with swap scraps that fit the photos- otherwise that is what the accent paper is for making mats as i put together the pages.
How many kits do you have at one time?It depends - right now I have less than other times- i have an entire folder that is my MGM/DHS studios pages (probably about 40 layouts) and some Dsiney hotel kits but not much else made up- When I went to SDV for the weekend I had more than 150 layouts kitted- varying from 1-4 pages each
It seems you do so many pages and so quickly, too. Would you mind showing me a couple of pages from a Disney book?I will have to get one out and take photos- if you look at the first and second scrapping with swapped pages you will see lots of my pages that I did like this from the pirate and princess party and Epcot, I will try and take photos of my AK album that I did at SDV from kits.
Does it go faster once youve been in several swaps and you have more to work with than just your own things?I was in several swaps before I started doing this. I have all of my swap items divided up into area where it is easy to pull out things for kitting. I would say more than 1/2 of my stash is swap items. I probably do close to 5-6 swaps a month between the 3 boards I do them with. Most of my swapped items are from here and 1 yahoo group I swap with. The other board i swap with is normally for pages for mini books that I give as gifts to my nieces and nephews(circut boards).
I was looking at the list and I have been doing similar things that are on the list. I think after we get the weird swap back I will try doing it your way with my AK book.Good luck- pull out all those kits from the AK swap you were in and use those as a base for many of the areas in your album- don't be afraid to break up kits as needed and pull one for this page and another for this one.

I mentioned I keep my swap items divided into drawers by types of items. I have cooking in one drawer, school in another, animals in another, each Disney park has a large drawer and there are seperate drawers/boxes for various groups of characters, resorts, dining, and then I have some drawers with blank toppers, mats, tags, ect. I add things I buy/recieve into the spot where they go so in my cooking drawer I have all my cooking swap items (a swap AWM did last year with everyday life) but I also have my cooking stickers, diecuts, ribbons, ect in this drawer. So if I am doing a page for cooking I know to look in that drawer.

I keep other embellishments in containers bny color- basic colored ribbons, stickers, mats, frames, ect. My brads and eyelets are sorted by type and color in trays.

All of these things help make kitting easier. Of course having tons of swaps and being willing to use them all makes a big difference too.

Rebecca

Rebecca just wanted to say thank you for all the great info.
After we get the 12x12 weird back, my group is Zoo, i will kit Ak and see if that helps things go a bit faster.
It will also help when Christmas is done and Dh goes back to work!:goodvibes
