Scooters and trams?

I posted that I injured my foot and ankle badly last week. I am in a cast and may not have strength and stamina in that foot to survive a week's worth of walking.

I rented a scooter from apple scooter just in case. But we will be driving and parking in the lot. At MK I know this will mean needing to tram to the TTC. Can a scooter go on a tram?

I have 2 young boys who won't survive the day if they have to walk to and from the car as well as all over the parks.

I don't want to get a handicapped sticker b/c this is a temporary issue and I don't want to take a space from someone who may need it more.

1. You cannot get an ECV on a tram. The space between rows is so small that strollers have to be folded. And most rental ECVs weigh over 150 pounds so you would have a hard time lifting one in even if it did fit.

2. You are not disabled less than anyone else with a disability! A disability is a disability. Especially in this forum, we never will take a position of "I'm more (or less) disabled than you." You can easily get your doctor to sign off on whatever forms are needed for a temporary disabled hang tag from your State DMV.

3. There is one space in each parking row right next to the Tram Aisle that is reserved for people who have physical needs but who do not have a tag for Disabled Parking. However, depending on where they are parking, it can still be quite a hike. Just let the parking attendant at the start of the row know your needs.

I did what CF said before I got my parking thingie, but I don't have a scooter, I have a manual wheelchair, and let me tell you, it was a PAIN getting it on the trams, especially now with the new doors. I do like the doors on the trams, but with a wheelchair, just makes it a pain, cause I had a hard time getting IN the tram, and couldn't help DH with the door or the chair. We had to get that first double row in the car of the tram, and that was a pain too. DH mostly ended up walking me to the entrance. MK is pretty much the worst parking lot, and of course where ever you end up in the parking lot at AK can be bad too!! Get the temporary handicapped pass....you'll be glad you did!!!!! I don't miss not having mine, especially at the parks!

Besides what everyone else wrote, keep in mind that is what temporary handicapped parking permits are for - temporary situations where someone needs to use the handicapped parking spots.
So, go ahead and request a permit without any guilt.
