My dad recently purchased a small travel scooter as his health problems have made it difficult for him to walk long distances now. After going through most of the excursions available for Tortola and St. Thomas, most (if not all) of the descriptions for the non-active excursions indicate no "electronic wheelchairs" are allowed. The only one I found was for St. Thomas going to Coral World.

Has anyone done excursions on these islands with a scooter? Which ones? We're starting to think we'll just walk around the docks at this point. (We did the gondola ride in St. Thomas back in 2003 and don't really feel the need to do it again.)

Nobody has had this problem?

My Mom has mobility problems and alternates among cane, travelscoot, rollator and having someone push her in a wheelchair. Each stairstep requires thought/effort. Short distances are now a problem too.

For Tortola we hired a taxi/tour and went to some of the landmarks bringing only the rollator. The Folk Museum had two flights of stairs up to it. The 1780 Estate had 4 steps up into it and a flight of steps to the maritime section in the basement. Cane Garden Beach had a very short stretch of sand before reaching the water. She had no problem the short distance from parking lot to Callwood Distillery rum tasting room. One of the lookout sites required a flight of stairs to get to the top.

At St. Thomas she rode her travelscoot to the tram and climbed the stairs to get on it. It was a little scary for her getting on and off the moving tram.
