we wanted to try some new stuff this trip and we picked the sci fi diner as one of the places..can anyone tell me about it and whats good on the menu...

The atmosphere is wonderful: A dark "night" with most of the diners seated in "cars". Very old B&W movie science fiction movie trailers run on the "drive-in" screen at the front of the room. We have always had very good cheeseburgers there. I have heard very good things about the shakes too.

However, many people have expressed deep disappointment with the quality of the rest of the menu. My advice would be to stick with drive-in food and enjoy the experience.

We have always enjoyed the Sci fi every trip--I cant remember ever having a complaint--not gormet dining at it's finest--but not advertised to be either!! Enjoy!

We will be going there for the first time this October. My brother's family went there two years ago & loved it! :cool1:

Been three times- will go again in December.

Last trip I had a great "popcorn chowder" and a wonderful barbecued chicken sandwich in midnight bbq sauce flavored with coca cola. Yum. Boyfriend had salmon and wild rice and *loved* it! We also had some of the specialty drinks. Mine was green and had an alien type name. It was melon flavored and delicious!

Burgers and fries there are excellent. Juicy fresh burger and crisp hot fries.

This trip I will defintely try one of the adult shakes- either the chocolate shake with banana liqueur and rum or the oreo shake with Godiva chocolate liqueur.

The food was well prepared and the atmosphere was great! It's so Disney! I also like that they accommodate vegans as well. Not an issue for me personally, but my friends appreciate that.

We really love this place as well. I think if you do a search on these boards, you'll find that the food can be hit or miss, but we've always been very happy with our selections. Regardless, we go for the atmosphere, it's VERY cool!!!!!

We all loved our meal here! My dh had the ribs, I had the flat iron steak sandwich. Our appetizer was the spinach/artichoke dip. It was very good! The kids loved all of thier food from the appetizers to the dessert! :flower:

We enjoyed our last meal there - it was at dinner, too. I had the catfish, and it was dry but etible. DH got the shrimp pasta and it was relaly good! We also had the spinach artichoke dip which was very good.

Atmosphere is great!

One of our family's favorites. Atmosphere is everything here ,and the food's pretty good too.

We ate there for the first time in January and loved it. It definitely is a hit for families with children. We all had burgers (except my veg dd who had something made for her...not sure what). The burgers were great and the kids loved their shakes. I want to go back this next trip in December, but the younger kids want to go to 50's Prime Time. We were there when they were babies and I didn't care for it. :(

oh i am so glad to hear these reviews....i am sure my kids will get a kick out of the atmosphere...hubby and i too for that matter....sounds like the burgers are a must....thanks so much for the info...

We like the atmosphere but didn't really care for the food. However, the shakes are really pretty good. We like to make a late afternoon PS to stop for a shake and a little snack. :) A good and more affordable way to enjoy the atmosphere for a while and take a break from the park.

Burgers, rings, shakes, lotsa fun. For us it's more of a lunch spot than dinner. :earsboy:

If you like onion rings, try the sci fi's onion rings! We always go there on our MGM days in the middle of the afternoon for onion rings and strawberry milkshakes. It's a perfect way to sit down in the a/c and have a delicious snack. We're taking our DS4.5 for his first time next month!

Years ago Sci-fi was more a burger place. That's the way it should be. Now, they have tried to make it a little more upscale--probably because it's popular, and they wanted to make a little money out of it.

They have great burgers, shakes, fried, etc. The food complaints usually come from people who order the "finer" foods. It's a drive-in. Give me a hot dog, pizza slice, candy, a "near beer," and I'm good to go. Who goes to a drive-in for gourmet food?

Anyway, we (obviously from the photo) love the place and never miss it. (BTW, my wife and I always take the opportunity to "make out" in the back seat---the kids love that :teeth: )

We always do Sci-Fi and 50's PTC on our MGM day. We stop at Sci-fi around 12 and spilt a bacon cheeseburger with a side of the most yummy onion rings! We split the grasshopper shake too. We love the atmosphere and taking a break from the park, but we don't want to be too full that we can't eat dinner. Then before fantasmic, around 6:30, we head to 50's for dinner. You can't go wrong with either place IMO!

We have an 8:15 PS for Sci-Fi on Sun Aug 7th. (party of 5) When I made the PS I did not specifically ask for a car. Do I need to call them back and specify or is it ok to tell them that we would like to sit in one when we get there?

I love Sci Fi Dine In more for the atmosphere, the food is just so-so at best.

We'll be going again next trip!
