Schedule of Southwest Release Dates Next Date 6/28 Travel Thru 1/16

Last week SW announced that on 4/26 they will open dates until Nov. 2. Eventually it will be posted on their website so we always know when the next set of dates will be released.

Has anyone seen the posting on the website? I just checked and didn't see anything, but I may have not been looking in the right place.

In my experience, it has been 10 AM Central Time. Don't forget to make the time adjustment !

Since SW is based in Texas, it would be 10 am Central time, which would be 11 am Eastern.

I hear you, but I don't know if I would truly consider it an "official announcement" from SW. I sure hope it's true!

Because people are looking for dates after this set of next dates is released and so on. Also, there are a ton of people that don't go to Southwest's website to look at the blog to see when they are going to release the dates. I am sure that if we let this thread die as soon as it gets to page 2 we will have people asking the same question over and over again.

It's only here to help.

Plus...there is the added benefit of being in contact with other whackos like myself who are obsessed with getting the best price on airfare!

Here is the quote from SW website

"Whoa, hold on now. This was just announced to US (reservations agents) that they were going to announce the date of the schedule opening on the 17th. That was Tuesday. They said it would be released to us either Wednesday or Thursday. At what time of day it was released, I don’t know. I wasn’t here yesterday. All I know is the tentative day for release is April 26th open for sale until November the 2nd. Of course, the date is subject to change."

So is it best to purchase right away or wait for a sale?

It really depends on what you what. I will book my tickets when they come out. As long as the fare is reasonable. Since I have another trip coming up in December, if (and when) a sale or Ding! comes out, I can rebook my August tickets at the lower price and use the credit for my December trip. If you will be unable to use the SW credit (ticketless travel funds) than it might be better for you to wait until the sale comes out.

As long as the rates are good - I'm just going to book. I will be flying out of Cleveland and the only other NS flights available are already $350 RT - YIKES!

Just curious- how long are the SW credits good for?? We are traveling 9/16-9/23 and I plan on purchasing my tickets right away, hopefully tomorrow but if a ding comes out for better fares I can get a credit and probably won't use them again this year.

I believe the credits are good for six months. I am only guessing as I don't have any available right now. They are transferrable, if you know someone else who may be flying. They can also be extended if you call the customer relations phone number.
