Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone here has ever done a scavenger hunt in any of the parks? My kids are very into these, and we thought it would be fun to do one while on vacation. If possible, I'd like to enlist the help of the CM's, but not sure if that is possible?

Any ideas, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We have done the Family Magic Tour which is essentially a scavenger hunt through parts of the Magic Kingdom. At the end we had a special meet and greet and went on PhilarMagic with Peter Pan. My kids loved it.

Thank you both! I was hoping to keep the cost free or minimal, but creative and tailored to our family. Thank you for mention Gift of a lifetime though! I knew I had remembered reading about something similar before and could NOT recall what it was! I like the idea of the family tour as well, but we will have an 18 month old with us, and I think that would be better for when he could appreciate it a bit more.

Thanks again!

Many years ago--maybe 20? --we did an MK scavenger hunt that was developed by the Magic Kingdom Club. It was a lot of fun, but I don't remember too many details. There were questions about the show posters around what is now Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, the number of aliens from Toy Story atop the kiosk in Tomorrowland, and some items on top of the lockers near the MK entrance. MK is rich with little details, there is a lot you could do. One thing I recall about the hunt was that you didn't need to actually ride any of the attractions to determine the answers. :earsboy:

The Perry Adventure in the World Showcase is sort-of a scavenger hunt. You get a phone and set off on a mission in your chosen country. You then have to find things in that country to complete the mission. It's actually pretty cool as some things in the countries will react when you finish that part of the mission. Ex: Doofenshmirtz (spelling??) comes up out of the one of the buildings in Norway. My DS absolutely loves that game.

I've never done one, but a couple of young men who were on a scavenger hunt came to my rescue in World Showcase in February: I was having trouble pushing my scooter along (it had died in the rain), and they very happily took it from me and whizzed it down to the UK pavilion for me so we could get it under cover. In fact, they left me behind as they didn't give me the chance to retrieve my walking stick from the front basket first!! The guy who did most of the pushing said they were on a hunt and it was one of the tasks to help someone out, and his friend had to take a photo of him pushing my scooter to qualify!! Whatever! It got me out of trouble, and I was extremely grateful to him. :)

You could maybe make one by googling pictures of signs and architectural details and do cards with all the pictures on it for ppl to find. Or maybe a selfie with a cast member from each country? You could probably get some ideas of specific things that are in each country by looking at the photography boards here.

It's a different kind of scavenger hunt, but there's tons of virtual Munzees to be captured all around the World (including 4 that I've deployed). Here's what Munzee is all about.

I'm heading up in two weeks, and figure I'll probably make about 4000-5000 points in five days of playing.

@inkedupmomma which park would you prefer to do the scavenger hunt in?

You could put together questions based on some of the disney secrets websites. For example: On the Animal Kingdom sign at the front of the park, which winged animal doesn't belong? (answer Dragon) or What is written on the wooden leg in the lost and found in Frontierland? (answer Smith) Once they have solved all the questions, use the letters from the answers to spell out the the final answer. 3rd letter form Q1, 5th letter from Q2, etc..

Hope it helps.

Hmmm... munzee sounds interesting. I will have to look into that. What is this Gifts of a Lifetime about? There website is so vague (I get it they dont' want to ruin the surprise.) But, it is too vague for me to even understand what they do. I guess I lack imagination. :rotfl:

Thanks for all of the input, knew I could count on my Disbords buddies! As of right now, we want to do it in the magic kingdom. My kids LOVE The perry game in Epcot, and do that every year as well. This one I'd like to be challenging but fun, and informational. Not sure how I want to end it... like add a prize at the end of it or something? Im thinking they may need to use my daughters smart phone, if the CM's won't let me place actual clues.

Hopefully I'm not biting off more than I can chew here!

I put together a scavenger hunt for EPCOT World Showcase for our visits in 2008 and 2010 when my boys were 6&8 and 8&10.

Basically, researched obscure photos from google images and created a laminated scavenger hunt card for each country. The boys were to search for 4-5 items within each country. This kept them "busy" while DW and I looked around.

It slowed us down so that we can enjoy each country.

Send me a message and I could send these to you if you are interested.
