Wow.
One really has to toe the party line or get severely reprimanded on this board. I've been a member of the DIS since the inception (and before, if we're being accurate), and have over 3000 posts. Am I to be accused of being a troll, too, as others who don't agree with the majority here are accused?
I'm sorry, but this little board doesn't make up the majority of guests at the Fort.
I disagree that I should "stay elsewhere" if I am uncomfortable with the "decorations" at my neighbor's campsite. Regardless that the Fort isn't hard-core camping where there's nothing but nature around (including a lack of hookups and bathrooms), we stay at the Fort because of the beautiful natural surroundings, among other things. We *don't* stay there because our fellow campers don't understand boundaries within whimsical decor.
I'll continue to camp there, including during the over-the-top decorating periods. I'm sorry, but I disagree that the over-the-top decorators somehow "deserve" the Fort more than I do. I also disagree that tackiness somehow embodies the spirit of Disney and "fun" and "love of family."
As another poster said, I believe this is exactly why HOA's must exist. One person's flamingo is another person's tacky yard art.
I am amazed that the average poster on this board seems to believe that they embody the average camper at the Fort. Just do the math. The number of frequent posters here is hardly equal to the average numbers of visitors to the Fort. And as the number of posters here is extremely likely to be a participant in the trailer decorating crowd, it's not surprising that any dissenters are quickly given the "intimidate and kick 'em in the butt" treatment. We may post again in the future, we may not. But please don't deceive yourselves into believing we don't exist or that your opinions are more valid than ours.
