On Friday after school was let out another note was found:

I have heard this. Just have to think of where. My guess is a movie.
I am going to go off the top of my head and say "Constantine" or one of the "Prophecy" series.

Now it could be Vampire/Werewolf as well.

Good evening all,
With the server coming down for maintainence, I thought that this would be a good time to introduce myself. I am merge, or Patto as I like to be called irl, and play by the name Eowimia. m is a bit of a no hoper at these recruitment things, so I figured it'd probably be a good idea to help him out a bit, especially seeing as I'm the second in command =) (you know it to be true m)...(I have the feeling I just broke rule 3...meh, whatever =D)

He got the basic gist of what we're about in his post, got some rules, where we are etc...but can't believe that he MISSPELT OUR GUILD NAME!!! We are the Order of Tirisfal, not the friggen Order of Tristfall...who ever heard of a place called Tristfall...sheesh =P

The Order of Tirisfal was once a secretive society, bound to the task of protecting the world from the agents of the Burning Legion and the mysteries of the Great Dark. Always before, we have kept ourselves hidden from the world of men, dwarves, gnomes and elves, primarily to keep them safe, but now with our number dwindling and the death of our beloved matriarch Aegwyn and her heir Medivh, we have been forced to venture out into the world searching for new strength to combat our foes.
The task of a Guardian in the Order of Tirisfal is no simple matter, and the burden which a Guardian carries should not be taken up lightly. The longevity and augmentation of power which is bestowed upon members of the order come at great cost, and should only be entered into after much consideration. Know then, all those who have the mettle to take up this great struggle, that though the path is twisted and narrow, and the rewards number but few, your service to the world is all that stands in the path of the horrors of the Great Dark and beyond.

World of Warcraft is what this is in reference to, not World of War. It is an online massive multi-player roleplaying game (EverQuest is another popular one). The Order of Tirisfal is a guild within the game (a group of players) and the Burning Legion is an evil army in the world of Azeroth, where this game takes place. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ It's not particularly dark, however, it's not really a game a 4th grader should be playing.

Unfortunately, children do play WoW, and many video games are based on the world that was imagined by Tolkien in the Lord of the Rings--elves, dwarves, etc. Dungeons and Dragons is based on it, too. If it is a student, it's likely the notes were written by someone who's at least familiar with a video game like WoW. The notes themselves do not have anything that sounds familiar to me, though. I think they were made up.

Sounds like "Underworld", now that you say that. But I have no idea if those are direct quotes.

I've searched all the Slayer lyrics I could find. While disturbing the references aren't there.

I also searched the Underworld quotes from IMDB and didn't find anything.

could be I have't seen the game...it definately seems game related. I was even thinking about something like Halo or Grand Theft.

The school should have contacted the police dept on this. It never ceases to amaze me how many matters the school does not report to the PD. You should go to the PD NOW. Perhaps a surveillance camera could be mounted somewhere in the classroom where the backpack is kept.

There were no envelopes by any chance, huh? I was just wondering if that would make DNA from the glue possible........maybe????? I agree with another poster about looking into the fingerprints if possible.

Both fingerprint and DNA analysis are expensive and time-consuming (taking weeks and even months sometimes, depending on lab time), but these letters should definitely be treated as evidence, regardless of the age of the perp. At this point, no crime has been committed, but it's just plain weird and cause for major alarm.

Your daughter –- and both you and DH –– should be able to sleep at night without wondering. Sounds like the school is doing what it can on its own grounds to protect your daughter, but I'd definitely contact your police department. That way there's a paper trail for school records when the person is caught and they can probably offer your daughter some advice on how to handle things if another note arises.

Maybe you can post some of the letters' contents in the heading of a thread over on the teens board. You at least might be able to find out where it came from - that information can help find out who may have done it (kids with obsessions are usually pretty obvious).

Mystery Machine's post gave me the idea to contact a few friends who are media junkies. You know, they are the guys who know the most random stuff when playing trivial pursuit and are always quoting movies you've never heard of....anyway. I'll let you know if they have any ideas.

It's been a long day.....

DH and I were in the office this morning with the principal and made some demands:
1) All the remaining school staff will be informed of the incidents (ie the
Notes found) in a manner that protects the identification of individuals, to
encourage the reporting of anomalous activities.

2) The Police Liaison will be contacted about the notes, and classroom
visits to all Grade 4's and 5's will be arranged to ensure all children
understand the implications of performing acts such as this.

3) You will arrange to have a copy of the Police Reporting Protocol
delivered to me. (you can send an electronic version to the email address
above if you wish)

At 2:30 this afternon I got a call from the principal that DD got 2 more notes , one which said You will die.

The police are meeting us at the school tomorrow morning. I am literally shaking.
