Today is my first day with my new teaching partner. I am cautiously optimistic, but only time will tell. We just don't have the same chemistry as the last one. In other news, my classroom fish, Monty, tried to commit suicide yesterday. It's true! I was cleaning out his bowl and had placed him in a cup of water(trying to distract one of my students who still cries all morning long at school). As I am rinsing through the gravel and showing the kids how we clean Monty's house, he jumps out of the cup and prostrates himself on the countertop! He just could not tolerate the noise any longer! It was beyond what a small fish could bear. I got him back in the water, and he actually looked a bit thankful after his brush with death, although I decided to give him a vacation in the pre-K room where there are no criers. Sheesh! Monstrous parents, quitting teachers, suicidal fish - what more will this year bring?

It's my wedding anniversary - It's been 14 years! Angie, isn't it yours too? If so,

Things are drying out but we are such a long way from normal. I need to restock groceries cuz almost everything in my fridge ruined. I could only find milk, eggs, and bacon though....no butter or cheese or meat....unless I wanted to buy $30 steaks. I'm sorry, but it must be nice to have 30 bucks for a steak at a time like this Maybe I am just jealous

Hopefully, the stores in my area will be restocked soon. I may never eat another peanut butter sandwich again.....or a tuna sandwich either after this.

OK, this is too weird. I just made a post, hit enter and now it's gone. Strange things happening on the DIS today. Maybe the Tag Fairies are flying high and things are going all screwy today.

Happy Anniversary to our two special couples. The Pooh family and the Angie family. Any big plans for tonight or maybe waiting for the weekend to celebrate?

As for Big Brother mums the word on the talk for about another hour or so. I missed it last night because the kids had games so I'm going to watch as soon as the last school bus leaves.

I don't blame the fish, what more could he take. Those fish ears are very sensitive and cannot handle crying for long periods of time. I feel bad for you my friend! I will ride Toy Story a few times for you, enjoy a Mickey Bar in your honor and toast all my Sassy friends with a Lapu Lapu. You all deserve and need it!

Heather, at least Joey has his dog treats! It stinks that you lost all your food. You may want to look into a little generator to just run your fridge in case of emergencies. It may be well worth it after you add up how much food you lost.

Things are so strange here. When I am sitting here at my computer chatting with ya'll everything feels almost normal....but when you walk out the door and see all the devastation you remember what we have been through. There are little pockets of normal activity....very small pockets. There just isn;t enough electricity around so everything is closed. We are hoping the pizza place will be open today

I waited in a long line to get gas yesterday. I agree we need a small generator for the fridge...and maybe a lamp and a fan. I cooked some of my meat as it thawed cuz we have a gas stovetop. And I amde chicken and dumplings yesterday with my last chicken. And I hvae a can or 2 of salmon in the pantry and I am going to make salmon patties and fried potatos today so we are more fortunate than some.

We are so so lucky......I can't get over it. That has been my mantra for days now.....we are so blessed and I have told my family that we need to Thank God often for this miracle.....we are safe and sound in a plave that has just gone crazy.

I have finally seen p[ictures of Galveston and I just want to cry.

Thank goodness you were there for Monty in his time of need! Fish suicide rates are really rising I've heard. I blame it on Nemo-they've all heard how he escaped and now they all want to be free.

Becca~are you too excited to sleep?? I hope you have a FANTASTIC trip!! Your neighbors are going with you, aren't they? Is it their first visit?

Heather~$30 for steak? That's HORRIBLE!! Does Texas have a price gouging law? I know some states do. I hope someone reports that store.

I am happy with the way BB ended. I wanted this person to win from almost the very beginning. I must say that Michelle drives me CRAZY!! Does she have any idea what a witch she comes across as? UGH!!

Angie, yes our neighbors are going with us and they have never been. They've done a Disney Cruise before though. My friend Maria and her boys are going too. She is our hair lady, her dh can't get the time off so she is taking her boys and going. I hope its fun, I'm suddenly feeling a lot of pressure for everyone to have a good time. Its freaking me out a bit.

I am happy to report that I have my SUV back. I never thought of it like a part of the family but I missed it so. It's just not the same driving a rental. I was always nervous someone would hit me. Oh well, I guess that's what insurance is for.

Bex don't worry so much about having a good time. It just magically happens at Disney. You know all that pixie dust being spread around.

I loved how Big Brother ended, I watched it this morning. What surprised me though was that the other guy got no votes at all. Can you tell I'm talking in code just in case anyone missed it.
