Sassy Somethings - Happy November

Good morning, Sassies! Things seem to be running smoothly in Sassytown. Glad that Mr. Joey has decided not to scare his mom so much! Maybe it's all a ploy to get to pee in a cup.;) Heather, go buy more cups and all of your worries may be over!

Liked the poem, Judi! How is mom today?

Bonnie - where did you shop? DH went to law school in Williamsburg and I used to shop their all the time. I must say, I am glad to have boys - I would have had a hard time not being selfish and wanting to swim. You are a good mom!

How old are the twins now, Becca? Are they mobile? The boys send their regards to Speck!:goodvibes

Where is our long lost Angie? Has she flown the coop and become a hermit on the Isle of Fiji? Has she joined a convent? Has she become an internationally renown cheese taster? Tune in tomorrow for Days of Angie's Life...............

Tricia- hooray for Kendall's team! Sounds like they had a lot of fun. What an honor to be chosen friendliest!

Hi Julie and Kimmy! Happy Tuesday!

My goal in life today is to kill as many threads as possible.

Amuk to the next

Howdy! Sorry I've been MIA. We had another lazy weekend enjoying all our HD channels and of course the free HBO, Showtime and Starz we get for 3 months. Mr. Angie loves to watch movies over and over so he's in hog heaven! :thumbsup2

The A/C at work STILL wasn't working yesterday when we came in. And it was very humid yesterday because of monsoon season. So, when it was about 92 in here I'd had enough. So our boss sent me and Gertie home at 11:30!! I went home and took a nap-the heat just drains you, plus I haven't been sleeping well cuz of sinus headaches and back pain.

This morning I went to the doctor for my back. I have a degenerating disc that pinches my nerves and is just truly a delight to live with! It's been fine for about 3 years, but now it's coming on strong again. She gave me some happy pills (ie Vicodin and muscle relaxants) but only enough for one month. I know they don't like to give out prescriptions for pain killers, but nothing else works so I don't know what to do. Over the counter stuff won't even touch the pain. I have to go to a new orthopedic surgeon and also get an MRI, so maybe when all that is in we can work on something for the future. I just hope it will be like last time-get through this little episode and then be fine for a few years. How do all these people get addicted to pain killers and when I need them for a legitimate reason I can't get them?? And why can't they come up with some that aren't so addictive?

Gotta get back to work! See ya later sassies!

Thanks for checking in Angie. Hope you feel better soon.

Angie - I hope you feel better soon! I had back trouble in the past and used prolotherapy. It's a technique where they basically inject sugar water into the affected area over several weeks to stimulate an immune response and therefore healing. It seems kind of "witch doctory" but it worked really well. This was after I had spent 2 years seeing orthopedists and taking all measure of pain meds. Not many docs do it (at least they didn't 9 years ago) - I had to go to a Dr. of Physical Medicine. I wonder if it would work for you?

It's been my experience that if you are truly in pain, the chance of addiction is minimal because the "loopy effects" of the narcotics are minimized because they are being used for the right purpose. But, so many docs worry about addiction that they tend to be stingy with meds when they ought not be. I am sorry you are havinga tough time!

Judi - keep up the good work. Many of these threads need to die!

Oh no, Angus! So sorry about the tweaked back! Back pain is the worst, girl. I sure hope it feels better soon. Hopefully you will be better before those pain meds run out.

Hi Wilma! Did you see Mama Mia yet?

Good morning, friends! It's rainy around these parts, but I'm glad. I always appreciate rain!

Today's the big day...Heather and Caitlin are getting their twin blocks put on! I know, I know...I ALWAYS think they are going to get their twin blocks put on every time we go to the ortho. But last time I went I double checked to make sure they were indeed getting them today! It's very exciting! Bubba skived off work because is going with us so that we can both learn how to use the key thingie.

I'm doing some self-reflection these days, and I have decided that it's time I got a hobby. So I am on the lookout for some ideas and if any of you have one, let me know! I was thinking about taking a class or maybe some piano lessons. I have an awesome keyboard that I never use. Brent has said in the past that he wanted to teach me to do drafting (he does architecture) so maybe that, I dunno.

Later hags! :grouphug:

Happy Hump Day Sassy Hags! We have one championship swim meet down and one to go Thursday then they are done for the summer. I may sign them up for some private coaching with their coach. We haven't decided yet. Justin invented a new swim stroke/techinique last night. It isn't very effective, but very entertaining if you judge by the reactions in the stands last night. He was Brian's son last night.:rolleyes1

Heather, sorry Joey worried you again.

Angie, your poor back. I hate backpain! I used to have horrid backaches when the girls were much bigger, but nothing like you have. I think you have earned a few lazy weekends! When I had my breast reduction I apparently told the surgeon I know why people become drug addicts after he gave me some happy juice. He thought that was hilarious! I agree with Wilma though about becoming addicted because she sounds like she knows what she's talking about.

Wilma, the twins are 6 months and not very mobile yet. The boy is so heavy he can't even sit up yet and the girl is so petite, but much stronger. Are you done with swimming yet? I get so confused with all these swim schedules.

Judi, I think you need to go check out the new Turtle Creek casino for me. Let me know if I should make the trek or not.:yay:

Bonnie, glad you enjoyed GWL. Its a fun place isn't it? I like shopping more than waterparks though. For your hobby I think you should take up knitting, I hear its very hot now and everyones doing it. You could make things. Or how about painting, are you artistic? I think that would be relaxing, but I could be wrong. Gardening? Frisbee golf? Water aerobics? Line dancing? I know you probably wouldn't like my hobby so I won't even suggest it.:snooty:

A big shoutout to Kimmy, Julie, Rella and Shanaynay. And one for our long lost member Jeni.

Tricia, hope you are having a great vacay!

What's up, Sassies? Hold on, there's someone at the door - brb!

Good morning, Sassy wonders! How's it hanging?

Bonnie- I want to take piano lessons too when I get a moment's peace. I played for about 6 years as a kid and really liked it but when I got serious about riding it had to go. Take some lessons and then we could entertain all of these lovely, sassy ladies with our duets!

Judi - What have you done for yourself lately? Even if it's just lazing in the bathtub with a book or a thread killing spree it's better than nothing. Take care of yourself, my friend.

Becca - hooray for Justin's new stroke! Barney is always lobbying for the powers that be to install a 200 Corkscrew event in the meet lineup. Never seems to happen, I don't know why. Summer league swimming ends for us Saturday night - Championship meets are Friday and Saturday. It's a lot of fun for the kids because they get to swim in the UVA pool, quite a treat. But, I will be glad it's over. Long course meets finished for Barney a week ago, so we are winding down. I am ready for my month off, to be sure! BamBam is learning breaststroke and fly, so he'll have some extra coaching through August to get him ready for the winter season but other than that, we will just play at the pool. Would you do the private lessons with the coach now or wait until the fall? What is Brendan swimming at Champs?

Angie - how is your back today? This is for you!

Wilma, you are a woman of many talents! I took lessons for about 2 1/2 years, but I refused to practice and often went to my weekly lesson not having practiced at all. My parents were not best pleased. My dad plays the piano and wishes at least ONE of us would have stuck with our lessons, but none of us did. I have a couple songbooks that I try to plink my way through but I absolutely suck!

Hello everyone!!

Hi Sarah!! Long time no talk-welcome back!! What a beautiful horse! Sounds like you've got a lot going on. Post some pics of the cabin-I'd love to see what you've done with it.

Well the happy pills didn't make me very happy last night. I slept like crap-I felt really drowsy but tossed and turned a lot, and woke up this morning with my back really hurting. But it has loosened (is that spelled right?? It looks funny) up now and I'm surviving. I'm getting an MRI on Monday, so maybe I'll get some better answers than the last time.

Is summer over yet?? I know-you all want it to never end, but this is the time of year when us desert dwellers have to stay inside. We go out and play in the winter when it's in the 70's!! It's been so stinking hot and humid lately.

Dangit-Bonnie's Christmas presents look way too similar to the kleenex cozies I was going to knit everybody! Oh well, back to the old drawing board.

Bex~I must know your hobby that Bonnie won't like. Is it collecting ear wax and sculpting beautiful artwork with it, nude volleyball at the senior center, competitive hot dog eating??? (By the way these are all great suggestions for you Bonnie) Come on-spill it!

Tricia~I hope you're having a fabulous vacation!

Wilma~I need more info on the Corkscrew; this sounds like my kinda swim stroke!

Judi~haven't heard from you today. Hope you're all doing OK.

Hi Heather, Kimmy, Julie, Rella, Shannon, Diann...who am I forgetting? Hi to anyone I forgot and please accept my sincere apologies-my brain is still a little foggy from my happy pills last night (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)!

Good afternoon hags!

My secret hobby is.........pulling out my armpit hairs with tweezers, weaving them into yarn and knitting great tea cozies for all my pals. Hey, you asked Angie!

Sarah, good to hear from you! Sounds like you have been really busy. I loved showing horses when I was a kid, some of my best memories are from horse shows.

Angie, sorry you haven't gotten any relief. Want me to try to find you some really good stuff? I'm sure my bil has confiscated some recently. I can't guarantee the safety of it though, but I'm sure it will make you feel like you can fly. Wheeeee.

Wilma, the corkscrew sounds like we used to do when we were kids. I tried it recently and it made me very dizzy. Although I think it should be an Olympic event since it is quite challenging!

A tea cozy? Woo hooo!! I happen to be in need of a tea cozy! So get crackin' on that.

What's up with you today, Bex?

Hi Judi, Tricia, Sarah, Rella, Kimmy and anyone else I'm forgetting! :wave2:

Judi where are you? I hope your mom is okay! Let us know! Tell Barbara I said hi. Did she get my card this week? :)

Wow-this thread has been quiet!! It sounds like we are all going to get some beautiful knitted gifts this Christmas-I for one am very excited. :teeth:

Judi~hope everything's OK with you.

I didn't sleep very well AGAIN last night! It was going great until DH's cell phone rang (cuz he forgot to turn it off!!) and woke me up about 15 minutes after I fell asleep. Then it took me like an hour to fall back to sleep. He has the Harry Potter theme as his ringtone (very masculine, no? ;) ), but it scared the crap out of me when it woke me from a dead sleep!! I of course have Metallica's Seek & Destroy as my ringtone cuz I'm cool. DH wants 867-5309, too. Now that song will be stuck in your heads all day-if you remember that one hit wonder from the 80's!

It is so nice to see everyone. Sam loves the horse showing so much it is just so tiring.

I will post pictures of the cottage as soon as I can. The construction is going ok. I got the plumbing, heat, a new front door and back door and some new lights put in, but these workers start working then get paid and hit the road on me. Oh well I have someone new now Im hoping he is going to do a better job. I am going to have to a new roof put on the bedroom addition. So I am hoping he doesnt like take off the roof and dissapper.

Sarah
