M&Ms to our house. Every year since I was old enough to eat them (a good 40+ years at this point) Santa has always brought every child in the house a bag of M&Ms. I have continued the tradition with my kids. The bag gets wrapped along with all of the other presents, and the 4 bags typically end up all mixed together into a giant bowl before the day is over.

Oh, and on the years I get to travel home for Christmas, my mommy still makes sure Santa has brought my M&Ms :)

Just curious if anyone else has a similar Santa tradition? :upsidedow

The little glass bottles of Coke in a four pack. When they were around six I stuck them under the tree and they were the hit of the year (all those expensive toys and they liked Coke in glass bottles). So now they get it every year.

The Lifesaver story book. Always in the stocking since I was a kid and will continue with my kids. Luckily they make gummy ones so they aren't such a choking hazard.

An orange in my stocking (left over from my dad, because one Christmas they didn't get anything else). New underwear (my mom just called the other day to get my size)! And a Whitman sample size box of chocolate (from my Dad. And even though my dad is now gone, I still get one for me and my brother!) Also, new toothbrushes in their stockings! I love traditions!

A giant jar of whole pickes, one for each kid (though we only open 1 at a time and share them.) We travel for Christmas but every time we get home there are 3 jars of pickles and 3 small gifts for each child left under our tree at home. My kids are HUGE pickle lovers.

Lifesaver Books. We always got them as kids and I buy them for my kids (24 and 27 now lol). The books used to have 10 rolls of Lifesavers and were like $1, they now contain 5 rolls and cost $3. But, I still buy them.

Actually, I think the gummy ones are much more of a choking hazard than the hard ones. I love lifesavers.

Santa only brings each child 4 presents ( and we don't give presents at all).

They get
Something they want
Something they need
Something to play with
Something to read

and under the tree in each room, Santa leaves a movie or CD.

We love this system because our kids are truly excited each year and appreciated and remember their gifts...and we have little waste or junk.

A few years ago, we went to my sisters a few years ago and she was really concerned my kids would feel cheated next to her kids. Ironically, it was the opposite. Her kids were jealous that Santa gave my kids such awesome gifts.....they had so many they were overwhelmed :rotfl2:, and thought the "tags" were great!

I just bought 2 Lifesaver Story books for my kids. I have never bought them before, but for some reason they were calling my name this year! Maybe it's because this year my DS's teacher gives Lifesavers out every once in a while. When he tells us about it he always calls them Light Sabers. I think it's really cute!

Yea you may be right. When I was a kid maybe 5, I swallowed a hard lifesaver and it lodged in my throat horizontally. I was still able to breath a little thru the hole (whistling) until help arrived. Those little suckers (no pun intended) really are life savers! The only bad that came out of it was that now I am phobic of throwing up. Must have been the trauma of gagging and choking on it.

I give my girls new PJs every Christmas Eve.

My dad (grandpa now) always gets a big lump of coal in his stocking. The kids are always excited to see if "this is the year grandpa gets anything in his stocking".

I LOVE this!! Wish I had started it a long time ago. Our DS is 15 and it;s too late. Our tradition is to spend family time and money buying gifts for kids who don't have a house and Santa can;t find them because of this. We are mindful for a few months prior to Christmas about spending money on things we don;t need. " This could go in our Christmas fund." This year, DS had a personal contribution and bought two toys with his own money.

Also, I have a large collection of nativity scenes and Santa makes sure the baby Jesus is in all of them on Christmas morning. Then the three Kings/wise men begin to travel toward the scenes. They move for twelve days and we celebrate Epiphany with our last gifts. DS has gotten into this moving the three figures and those Kings end up in some weird places - some get lost and we always wonder if that atar is bright enough to get them to the manger in time, lol!

One of every coin (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, 1/2 dollar, dollar) was a tradition Santa started, interestingly enough when my mom got remarried. :thumbsup2

Opening new PJ's on Christmas Eve.

Each child will find a couple of new books in their bed on Christmas morning. They are allowed to unwrap them and stay in bed reading until a preapproved time when they can wake us up. Most of my kids look forward to this, but my 6yo this year told me that he doesn't want a book in his bed, he wants a toy (he doesn't like reading) so I said "Okay, but you know, if you get a toy in your bed then you will get books under the tree." So he changed his mind, lol.

That's a good idea! It would have saved several 4 am Christmas wakeup calls!!!

Now my girls are teens and we have to wake them up to come open gifts!

When my 15yo was around 3 she wanted me to buy her soda that sucks your lips. It took me a good week to figure out what the heck she was talking about!!! :confused3 We went in a gas station one day and she says MOMMY LOOK!!! Soda that sucks your lips!!!

I should get her some for Christmas!! :drinking:

Chocolate covered cherries!

:thumbsup2This is what my dad would buy me and my two brothers every year even though I hated them he would always buy them and eat them. Since my Dad passed away 4 years ago I buy them for my DH who likes them!

Still makes me smile when I think about his tradition.
