We're just back from an absolutley PERFECT week at WDW (11/14-11/22). We have made 2 to 3 trips/year for the last 10 years and still find new places to eat (although finding time to try new places gets harder and harder as our lists of favorites gets longer and longer!!)
On this trip DH and I left the parks one day and tried a late lunch at the Sand Trap Bar and Grill at the Bonnet Creek Golf Club. What a delightful escape. We felt 1000 miles away from the theme parks. You can dine indoors or out. Great view of the golf course and woods. Got the idea that the place is never very busy. Friendly servers although no one was in a hurry. We used 2 of the Q&C vouchers (that cost $11 each).
The waiter encouraged us to try 2 different appetizers. I ordered the buffalo wings and DH the Onion Straws. There were 12 large wings on a platter, served with Blue Cheese sauce for dipping and celery sticks. They were excellent wings (not drowning in the sauce, but enoght to give them a kick and still taste the chicken). The onion straws came in a bucket filled to overflowing. Crisp and tasty, not at all greasy...it was enough for 4 people easy maybe more. DH ordered a burger (huge, with fresh sauteed mushrooms and cheese per his request...had to be 1/2 lb or more). He said it was the best burger he could remember eating. I had the Cobb salad with chicken breast. Also a huge serving, shredded iceburg lettuce with finely chopped tomatoe, egg, ham, turkey bacon and bluecheese crumbles and a sliced grilled chicken breast. Good dressing, served on the side. I am not exactly a dainty eater and I was really hungry and could not even finish 1/2 of the salad. It was very good. My only suggestion would have been to have something besides plain iceburg in the greens, but it was still good.
We were way too full for desert, but server offered to box it to go for us...we had the strawberry swirl cheesecake. Our DD's ate it in the room that night and pronounced it "Not world class cheesecake, but very good", I also noticed that there was not a crumb left when they finished so it must have been pretty good!!
The meal was an excellent value with the Q&C vouchers if anyone is looking for someplace different to use them. I think our bill before tip was about $52.00 (so at least $60 with tip and I had only paid $22 for the vouchers)...We will definately go back when we need a "getaway"...and next time I think we will use 1 voucher and share...portions were huge.
