Hi Guys,

I was wondering what happens if two peple request the same location on the same day? How does Disney decide who uses the location and how does the selection process work? Does it happen very often?

I am looking at a September 2009 ceremony and have been told I cannot confirm the date until 12 month before. I presume my co-ordinator will keep me informed if there is interest from more than one couple. Its just something that worries me! :)

You go into a lottery to decide who is the lucky one to get their desired date and time and location. I think it happens often when you request a weekend day i.e. Friday sat and sunday, and when you are looking into the popular time of the year, the spring and summer.

I'm not sure how forthcoming the wedding coordinators are in telling you if someone else is interested in your date. I think the most he/she can tell you is if someone they are working with has also requested the same date, time location. But there are a bunch of coordinators working with many many couples, so you wont really know until the time comes. THat's why they ask you for a first second and third choice as far as date time location goes ;)

ETA: this is when you are a year out or more. I think if you are under the one year mark, especially 8 months or closer, you get the date as long as its open; as alissa said, first come first serve in that situation

Unfortunately Shezfrombermuda and I have ran into this problem first hand. I had already tentatively held the SBP location for our wedding day so she wound up reserving WP. We've been bouncing between stealing vendors from each other too. lol. which is unfortunate, but has worked out rather fair in the end.

I'm pretty sure it's first come, first serve.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I hope that you managed to sort out arrangements with your wedding twin Alissa!!!

Haha, definitely. I think it's actually working out - I hope anyway, I would hate it if she was :furious: at me!!

I know a couple of the other brides had a same day wedding and snapped a pic of both of them in their wedding dresses... maybe we'll organize a meet!

Oh, also, we are doing an escape wedding, so I know you can only officially reserve 8 months in advance. I believe its 12 months for wishes... correct me if I'm mistaken....

for the most part that is true. There are certain occasions when a Wishes wedding has to wait until the 8 month mark to sign a contract too.

we're doing a wishes wedding and although they can tentatively hold our date 12 months out, we can't officially sign our contract until 8 months. There are a few exceptions to this if you have your wedding at a certain location, as they will let you sign your contract at 12 months but I dont remember what locations they are! lol. I know its not the wedding pavilion though.

Escape weddings can book outdoor locations at 12 months and the Wedding Pavilion at 8 months.

Wishes weddings can book theme park locations, Ariel's and Atlantic Dance Hall at 12 months, all others at 8 months. Both the ceremony and reception locations must fall under those first three categories in order to book at 12 months. Otherwise, you gotta wait til 8 months.

:thumbsup2

I'm September 2009, too! If we have the same date, I'll wrestle you for it! :rotfl2:

Kidding, but if you're there around the 16th we might run into one another! Fun! :thumbsup2

When I spoke to Disney i was told that it was wedding pavilion and conference centre locations that had the 8 month rule and everywhere else was 12 months.

Ha Ha, missed you by a day! We are hoping for the 17th! Will get the wrestling gear out just in case! :rotfl2:

Just so you know our coordinator did call me and tell me when someone else expressed interest in the Atlantic Dance Hall during the same period we wanted. So went into a lottery situation. Luckily for me I guess we won because I never heard anything else about the other couple.

My coordinator just called me to inform us we're in a lottery for our date!!! ahhh!!! I hope we win! Well, I guess it doesnt matter much to me which day /time we get, I dont have my heart set on one specific time. I just can't wait to have a date to start counting down to!

Well, we requested May 29th, 2009 as our first choice for our wedding. Today is May 29th, 2008 - so the one year mark. She just gave me a ring about a half hour ago to let me know that we're in a lottery. She said that I'll hear back from her Monday late, or early Tuesday with the results! I am going to go crazy this weekend waiting to hear back! lol
