One more question - I read on another thread that the bees and wasps were terrible at Kidani. Do I have to worry about that in October? I'll be really mad if I keep the reservation and then we can't even use the balcony!

....saw-ry, can't answer this one [I've never stayed there in October :confused3 ] ....hmmm, actually, this is the first time I've ever heard about this particular problem...you might want to try calling AKL directly and speaking to them about your concerns....

Morning Jamborini's and Kidanites!!! Hope all of you in the path of Irene fare well - batten down and hope it's not nearly as bad as it could be! We'll be thinking of you all this weekend. I'm SO glad it's friday - it's been a LONG week - I'm ready to just relax for a little bit!!

** Kim, I hear you about your mom, it's like that for us too - I can only take my mom for about 3 days, then she's got to go!!!!!!!!! Good luck and you and your brother SHOULD DEF. plan that trip!!! You deserve it!!! :flower3:

...actually, there was talk about that between my younger brother and myself, figuring that it would prevent my mom from visiting here....besides, nuttin' wrong with Christmas in the Carribbean, eh? ;)

Nope, nuttin wrong with that!!! :)

I've stayed at Kidani and I've never heard of this either!!! I would tend to think though that IF someone had a problem with bee's or wasp, someone would've done something to remove them, or spray - I would say you won't have a problem, but like Kim said, you can always ask about it.

Hmmmm, that is an interesting observation!! :rotfl:

Your dates have been added. Here's how the list looks now:

:goodvibes Thanks

...yeah....even my younger brother had concerns about her coming back for another extended stay (her last visit actually put a strain on his and his wife's relationship! :guilty: ) We all feel really awful about saying these bad things about our mom; I mean, we truly love her and all, but she just overstays her welcome. I know there are plenty of you out there that no longer have your moms, but it's really a basic fact that we LOVE OUR MOM - we just can't LIVE WITH HER! :sad2: She's not feeble or bed-ridden - she's basically a vibrant, 'young' 75-y-o, so it's not like she needs constant care and/or supervision [thank God!]. She's lived on her own for quite some time now, and I think she believes that, whatever her lifestyle is in her own home, can be carried out to wherever she visits. Apparently, something must have happened immediately after her operation, while she was on-the-mend at her cousin's house. She was to stay there for 7 or 8 days, but suddenly called me to come pick her up [with no explanation]. Our guess is that she probably got on her cousin's nerves too....* sigh *

:grouphug:

When we were just at Jambo House there were these BIG Black Wasp that seemed to live in the railings but they must not be too aggressive as they never bothered us even when DS3 was banging on the railings:confused:

We've been there in late September and didn't notice anything....on the deck, around the pool, or anywhere else.

...well, drivng through Richmond, I immediately thought of YOU.

And the reason you were driving in my neighborhood?? Hopefully it wasn't during any of our recent catastrophes from Mother Nature!!

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

Batten down the hatches!

Elin, what's the forecast by you? We're not even going to get one drop of rain from Irene. (drought is definitely back)

Kimmar - many a mom has driven her adult children nuts. I think it's an unwritten rule. :upsidedow

Everyone in Irene's path - stay safe.

Congrats on booking at AKL!! :woohoo:

If you are adventurous eaters, you should make a dinner reservation at Boma. I'd suggest doing the Culinary Tour (3:45pm most days) the day before or the day of your reservation. There are "pods" with many different foods, African and American (it is a buffet style), so the tour will give you a heads-up on which pods you definitely want to hit!! ;)

Zebra Domes and many other wonderful desserts are located at the last pod. (Also, when I took the tour several weeks ago, we were given a Zebra Dome to try! :cloud9:)

I never heard of the Culinary tour! it sounds great, we will definately try it out. This will be our first time at AKL, the kids are getting so excited.:cool1:

Well, we just booked a pool view bunk bed room at AKL for Dec 3 thru 10. This will be our first stay at AKL. We wanted Poly (sorry AKL lovers), but it was not offered on my DS plan for the week we needed (our DS is serving an internship at the world til Jan). We have been to the lodge many times, but never stayed. And we have eaten at Bomas (love it, although last time, I tried each of the soups and was done for the meal !) And we have never been to the world other than Aug, so we are really looking forward to the decorations (and lack of temp, too !) Well, just wanted to jump in and say hi. Have a great day.

Can you send a care package of the same items up to me?

We're starting the process of "battening down" this afternoon.

Should be "fun". I'll let you all know if we end up with a foot of water in our (finished) basement or not.....

:rotfl: - as I watch the rain come down!
stay dry y'all!

Everything that can be bungee-ed has been taken care of. All outside decor is down and in. There is water aplenty in the refrigerator and freezer and tub. We have food and batteries and candles and full tanks of gas. Cannot think of anything else to do but wait for Irene to pay us a visit. A friend who lived through Katrina said this: Irene... SUCK DRY AIR AND COLD WATER! :p

Hi Jamborini's & Kidanities:goodvibes

Hope Irene stays away from all of us! Elin, glad you're power is back..Ws good to follow along w/you on FB last night to make sure all was ok:hug:
I don't know what'll end up happening here...They are now calling it a tropical storm not a hurricane, here in Boston:confused3 Hope I dont have to sleep at work!

50 more days until WDW, I need it bad:cheer2:

For some reason, it's really easy for parents to overstay their welcome...don't feel bad, evidently I turn into a completely different person when my parents are around! :rotfl:

Elin, I hope you any everyone else in the path of Irene are safe! I have a lot friends who are hunkering down for the weekend. Hope everyone comes through safely and with minimal or no damage!

thanks for all the well wishes for Irene. We are in the NJ bullseye. The grocery store had no bread, eggs, Chef Boy R Dee and Ramen Noodles.

They did get in five pallets of water when I was there and they announced it.

Came back earlier this week from two nights at Pop when I dropped off DD for the College Program. She will be working at Cosmic Rays till early January. She does her Magic Kingdom training tomorrow and starts her job training on Monday. If you see a Christine from Ramapo College of NJ that is my baby.

...to read entire thread but need an answer to quick question..
at Kidani is in 1 BR, 5+ infant or is the infant included?
Ex: 4 adults, 3 yr old and 9 month old....would that be "legal"?

Thanks

Congrats to your daughter - how exciting!! :thumbsup2

Stay safe - I'm heading to WDW this weekend but will be watching the news closely and praying for everyone's safety. :grouphug:

Just a warning, if you read this whole thread - you'll come away knowing more about our lives than about Kidani!!! We stray off-topic (hence the title "Lite"!!) :flower3:

AFAIK "infants" are not included in the people-per-room count. If you're allowed "5" I'm fairly certain that means 5 who are age 3 & over. :goodvibes

How exciting for your daughter!!!:woohoo:I am so jealous...I should have done that program when I was in college...course I wouldn't have come home:laughing:.

I am in central MA and the grocery stores are nutty here too. My thoughts are if we lose power those gallons of milk and eggs are not going to last very long...I just don't get why they stock up on them:confused3.

I am just happy that the storm missed WDW....I can't imagine if anything happened to my happy place,,,

Stay safe fellow east-coasters!!!

I purposely did not buy eggs or additional milk for that reason. My DH was disappointed and ran out to buy eggs so he could bake cookies! He was shocked how crazy it was and how much was sold out.
