Good morning Jamborinis and Kidanites!

Hope everyone is safe and dry! Currently heavy rain here in Central Jersey with scattered gusts. Electricity is still on and basement dry.

Spent the evening at my sister's house enjoying pizzas and hurricane cocktails.:woohoo:

I hope your good fortune continues! stay dry! The cocktails sound yummy! :goodvibes:

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

We survived Irene. In fcatm the storm we had on Thursday night was worse! Our power just came back on after having gone off at 4:30 yesterday. I hope it stays on. There are over 4 million people without power on the East Coast!!

So glad you got your power back on! Sounds like your neck of the woods is safe, I hope you don't have extensive cleanup.

Good Morning all!!! Elin, so glad you have your power back!!!!
Yay to everyone who has reported that you are doing ok!! Almost time to say Goodnight Irene!!!!

On another note...exactly one month from today we check into Kidani:) ANd Laura is on WDW property off to a park....!

Yay for only a month left! Yesterday I hit the two month mark, so I'm really getting ancy!

Good morning everyone! Hope y'all are staying dry! DH took my kids to the beach this morning...... its always gorgeous after a storm :confused3

Glad to hear you are safe and able to enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Just booked our first stay at AKL! So excited! My DD11 has wanted to stay here for so long. I'm going back to look at page one and previous posts.... :thumbsup2

We have a standard view booked. Any suggestions for requests?

Hi there! I`m finalizing my plans for our AKL trip in October. As I`m starting to think about food to order, I`m wondering how much space is in the fridges and if there`s a toaster in the room. I have a regular standard room booked. Thanks!

Sending prayers and warm wishes to all who need them this Sunday afternoon. I know there are millions without power due to the storm.

Our kids and grandkids all came through Irene ok, lot of rain, power went out for about 20 seconds. They live far enough away from the coast, but with the size of the storm it was an unknown. Thankfully they are fine. :worship:

We have very close friends who live in your same town. He took Friday off work because of the Thursday night storm. He was worried if that was just a storm then Irene would be terrible. We have not heard from them yet. Hope they came through as well as you and Bob did. Thank Heavens!

How exciting!!!! You are in final countdown mode now. :cheer2::dance3::cool1:

Angelgirl, the fridges are just the standard little Disney size, dorm size frig. Our stay at AKL last Octover in concierge didn't have a freezer. Not sure if that is all of them or not. You said you were in a standard room not DVC, so there would not be a toaster or microwave. However, they do have both for use in The Mara I believe. I am sure someone will be along who has been to AKL recently.

How exciting....I know you will have a super great vacation

For a very small increase you can get a pool view. I would look into this.:thumbsup2

Angel - I hope your friends are OK. I am thinking they probably are. There were wide-spread power outages and lots of trees down but nothing catastrophic. Telephone and internet service have also been out sporadically. I hope you hear from them soon.

Winds weren't TOO bad up here in NW CT.

However, there was a LOT of water in a very short period of time. We saw something around 8 to 10 inches of rain in about 12 hours. And it had been pretty "wet" around here lately, anyway, so the ground was already pretty soaked.

LOTS of flooding in CT. Our backyard looked like a small lake was forming....we ended up running a sump pump to pump water away from our basement door all night (we'd had this happen before...though never quite so much). Then we lost power around 8 AM and my wife and I spent about 3 hours outside bailing water (as in, with buckets) to do the same.

Not fun. Not horribly awful, but not fun.

We took about 1/4 of an inch of water, in one small corner of the basment, because our basement WINDOW WELLS started to fill up (something we'd never, ever, ever had happen before). We caught it after the windows were about 1/4 under water. Still....it was maybe a small bucket full that made it into the house. Damage, overall, was minimal. Maybe a few hundred bucks to fix a floor and replace some stuff that was lost. Definitely not as bad as it could have been.

Power came back on around 6 PM last night...which was a godsend. It meant a hot shower after a very long, back breaking, morning. Today, we start cleaning up and putting things back together.

pilferk, glad that your damage was only minimal. Thank God that you and your family are safe.

Kathy

Thanks!

Everyone was safe and, really, a few hundred bucks of basement damage is pretty minimal compared to "life and limb".

In the grand scheme of things, in "The Norway Family vs Irene"..I DEFINITELY consider this a "win"! I wasn't so sure when she was headed our way....and was even less confident when the power popped at around 8 AM and I knew we were going to have to bail.

But....you know...the family that bails together, stays together. :)

I could use some prayers for my dad. He fought going back to the doctor on Friday and Saturday. Ended up having to take him to the emergency room yesterday. He has severe pneumonia in what is left of his right lung (lung cancer 5 years ago) and they sedated him and put him on a ventilator. Currently stable, but they don't expect any major improvement for a few days.

I'll keep your father in my prayers.

Yes....my sentiments too....while you have alot to contend with, it could have been worse...but then again, how does one determine what is bad or worse....you are all safe like Kathy said.

So glad you came through with minimal damage! Good luck on the cleanup!

Sorry about your dad. I hope things start to look up for him.

pilferk... I think you all (and Vermont) got hit the hardest!
