S/O How many were in your wedding party?

I've been married a couple of times but both times I had a maid of honor and DH had a best man.

My sons are all married...
Oldest DS had 2 Best men and 4 groomsmen/Wife had a Maid of Honor and 5 bridesmaids
Middle DS and wife had maid of honor and best man
Youngest DS and wife got married at the courthouse with just witnesses.

My sister was my maid of honor, DH's dad was his best man. One best friend's DD was my flower girl and the other's DS was my ring bearer.

We were lopsided. I had a MOH and flower girl. DH had a best man. Then we had my 3 brothers and dh's brother as ushers.

I had 4 bridesmaids (my sister and DH's 3 sisters) and my closest sister was my MOH. DH had his college roommate for his best man and 3 brothers and one BIL as groomsmen/ushers. My nephew was our ring bearer, no flower girl. This was in 1992. When my youngest sister got married, she asked both my other sister and me to be bridesmaids. We both declined. I was 38 at the time and would have felt odd being in my little sister's wedding party (she was 26). I encouraged her to ask her friends- she had plenty- but now wonder if I hurt her feelings by not being in the wedding party. I made her dress and veil, and my other sister and I took care of the rehearsal dinner, so it's not like we weren't involved. I just felt awkward being a bridesmaid at almost 40!

Our wedding party was far too big! We had a matron of honor, maid of honor, 3 bridesmaids, best man, 4 groomsmen, 4 flower girls, and 3 ring bearers.

I didn't know we were counting ushers. My three brothers acted as informal ushers. The balance was ridiculously lopsided though. My DH's family took two rows on one side, my family filled all the rest plus my side and most of our friends ended up standing in the back. Somehow one of my grandma's ended up standing. Not sure how that happened. Seems my brothers failed the usher thing, lol.

2 bridesmaids. One was my BFF, one was my sister. My sister's daughter was a sort of flower girl too. MY DH had 2 of his best mates as groomsmen. I would have only had one, but my mother insisted on me having my sister, and I think that DH was keen on having 2 of his mates.

IN terms of other roles, well we had 2 ushers, a mate played the organ, another one sang for the signing of the wedding register, another one did a reading. It was nice having different people do things like that. Part of the fun without the pomp.

We didn't seat on 'sides' as it would have been lopsided like your wedding, Wen. Only the other way - my family wouldn't fill a pew, especially with my sister in the bridal party. My DH's family is catholic, so there are quite a few of them, ha.

DD & her DH had 10 - 5 women, 5 men. The guys did the ushering.

I remember how hard it was for me to decide who to ask to be my maid of honor.
We married in 1987 (It will be 30 years in May) and are still in touch with 12 out of the 14 attendants.
