Runners UNITE! We've graduated C25K, so let's keep on going!

Yay Jenn! Finishing is all that counts, right? ;)

I have been kicking butt on my run - I'm trying to work it down to 11 min/miles by the end of the week, which ends the 30 minute runs in the One Hour Runner program. Yesterday I did 11:08!! I'm enjoying the outside time while it lasts - soon it'll be too hot to run outside at the time I can get out, since I'm relying on babysitters and day "camp" hours. But I decided inside, on the treadmill, I can work on some hill programs and other stuff, since we don't have hills here!

Oh, and I just adore my Forerunner. Have I mentioned that?

Corinna, I totally stole your logo, thanks! ;) My sister said to stop trying to hook her up with random brothers of random people on random internet sites. :sad2: If she could find one herself, I wouldn't have to, right?

Kim - we're doing this trip as cheap as we can, but even still, the airfare is our killer. I just saw a purse I love on sale on Kate Spade's website - but $90 is the entry fee for ToT, not a new purse!

Hi Kat! I can't believe you are almost down to an 11 minute mile! How fast is that anyhow? Math tells me that it is 5.45mph! Wowie wow. So it seems like maybe we could START together at TOT, but you are going to zip ahead pretty quick! That is great, seriously! I have blown off the OHR program in lieu of.....well, nothing really definite, I guess. I am so impressed that you are running that fast for that long!

Also, I don't think you stole my logo - I think I pressured you into using it. :rotfl: I am very honored, really!

I can see your sister's point. I can see your point, too. I can look forward to meeting her in October, though, right?

SO glad you love your Forerunner!

Hey girls. I'm back! I seriously need to get my you-know-what back out there to run. Fathers Day is the perfect day for DH to spend some quality time with the kids, right? :confused3

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Welcome back, Kim! Yup - time to get back to the serious running. I don't know why it was easier to just buckle down and get it done when I was doing the program, but it definitely was. I personally am going to go back to the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule I was doing back when things were regular-like. Though I missed this Saturday. The shame. The horror.

Actually, I was at cub scout camp and did have to run a little and walk a ton. I'll write the whole thing mostly up in my journal very soon. Well, I hope to. But the short story is this: It was hot, humid, buggy and very exhausting, but my little scout had a GREAT weekend, and that makes it worth all the minor hardships we were putting up with to be there. It is GOOD to be home, though.:cloud9:

Hey girls. Just a quick howdy doody this morning to catch you up. I ran Monday (2 miles) and this morning (2 miles - struggled a lot). Tuesday I did some of the workouts on Comcast On Demand and they kicked my @$$!! Lots of squats and core ab work. WHEW. I think that had something to do with my rough run this morning b/c even though I took an extra day off & didn't run y'day....my legs were still tight.

My plan is to run again on Saturday and maybe do the On Demand stuff again tonight or tomorrow night.

Hope all is going well with you all!

Kim - GREAT job getting those runs in! Sometimes they really are a struggle the whole way through - good for you for keeping on keeping on through that.

Squats can be so brutal - I would say they can definitely impact your running, too. Hope yours settle down soon, cause that is no fun.

As for me, I am going to run a little later this morning. I don't think I have time for a longer distance today I will probably do another podfitness run. Those seem less rough - mentally - for me than the plodding along at a steady pace runs on the treadmill.

Have a great day!

I'm working through the One Hour Runner - I just started Week 4 which has a longer run on Friday. Eek! I had to run inside yesterday because of the heat, and still need to arrange tomorrow's babysitter. Hopefully early enough that I can run outside!

kat, that is so awesome! I have not been able to follow through with the OHR for some reason......not that I'm not trying to get up to one hour of running. That would be so awesome. How long is long for you on Friday?

Reporting in: Just ran 3 miles, no stops, well, except the phone rang and I did dash over to check the caller ID before I realized my DH had answered upstairs. I don't know how long it took me because the timer on the TM wasn't counting for some reason. I started at 4.5TMPH (treadmill miles per hour) and then bumped down to 4.3 for the second mile, and 4.0 for the 3rd mile, which I am not thrilled with, but I came to the realization that my "slow down to" speed is what my "speed up to" to run speed used to be. And then I felt a little inspired, cause that is just really cool.

My rib/shoulder region is still not feeling so great after my fall at camp on Saturday and actually, I came to type this up before I even went to the shower, so I should probably stop sweating on the computer and go rinse off....not the best idea, I guess.

NICE run, girlie! :thumbsup2 Keep it up and great job getting the run in! I give you girls SO much credit for getting on the treadmill. :worship:

Kat - I'm a little ashamed, but I've never heard of OHR. That's awesome!! How long is the program? Is it different than the C25K program or is it similar and try to have you run a certain distance in that hour?

Corinna actually pointed me to the OHR! It's somewhere on the Coolrunning website - I googled it, I think. It's not a distance thing, just minutes. The first three weeks, you run 30 minutes three times a week, then it starts building until at the end of ten weeks, you run 60 minutes at a time. I figure by then, I'll be at the six month mark since I started running, so I can start daily runs!

Tomorrow I run a whopping 35 minutes. I should probably call in some favors and find Russ a babysitter! :rotfl:

Well, I didn't do my 35 minute run until today. Was going to do it Friday after Russ went to bed - even lined up a friend to sit in the house since it's all illegal to leave a sleeping kid alone. ;) Instead, that friend and I went to the ER with poor Russ to get six stitches in his forehead - he fell off a slide ladder and got a rock lodged in his forehead. He's a trooper, though, he doesn't even think anything is wrong with him. Mommy, not recovering as well.

The run went OK. I seriously thought around minute 26 I wasn't going to make it - thinking you have nearly ten minutes to go instead of four is really disheartening the first time! But I made it.

I also found my next run! :cheer2: The local orchards are having a big cherry picking festival including a tot trot, pit spitting contest, and a four mile run in July. I'm going with a friend - her husband already signed up for the spitting contest. They will hang out with Russ and their son while I run. I'll be in the middle of week 8 for the One Hour Runner, so I'll be up to running 45 or so at a time by then, hopefully!

Oh my gosh, kat - what a derailing that was! Stitches are no fun, but I am so glad that Russ is OK now.

Congratulations on getting through that first longer run! I know what you mean about the disheartening nature of the clock at that point.

Your next run sounds really great - the cherry pit spitting contest sounds hilarious. I don't think I have a gift for cherry pit spitting, personally, but maybe with some training, I could improve. I guess you never know until you try. I've learned that this year!

So anyhow, I have joined the road runners, at least for the time being. It's going pretty well overall, I think. Today was my second run here in Michigan and I ran all the way into "town" and then back. All the sidewalks are concrete, so tried to stay off of them as much as possible. It was not as hot this morning - about 70º out - and there was a little breeze, which was very nice. I did the first 5K in 36 minutes, which is really fast for me! I ran a little more after that, walked a little, then ran a little more to get up to 4 miles total. I finished with trying to run up the big hill - not the most brilliant, but my house is up there! I ended up walking about 2/3 of the way up. Oh well. Maybe someday I can run all the way up that hill, run being a very loose term in this case. I'm not missing the treadmill TOO much. :lmao: I am getting excited about my 4th of July race now! I still need to ask my FIL if he will watch the boys that morning, early, though.

Hope things are going for you guys?

Hey girls. Sorry for being M.I.A. Unfortunately my running has been exactly the same. Non-existent. :sad2: The kids are sleeping over my parents tomorrow night, so DH and I are planning a run/walk on Saturday morning together. :thumbsup2

WISH us luck!!

Oh, and keep up the GREAT work, girls!!

Kat - I'm so sorry to hear about Russ. I bet YOU were terrified! I know I would have been. Glad to hear he wasn't phased by it. :goodvibes Congrats for finding your next run! :thumbsup2

Corinna - (have I ever mentioned that I love your name? If I had seen it before I had my DD I would have named her that. My mom's name is Coreen and I'm not too crazy about that one, but Corinna would have been a spin-off of sorts in a prettier way. :goodvibes ) Anywho....GREAT job running while on vacation! You are the woman!! :woohoo: Keep it up girl!!!

Corinna, I thought of you today - I ran inside (on the treadmill) but I looked at the inside "track" at my gym. 14 laps around make 1 mile. That's even worse than 11! :rotfl:

I'm just plugging away at the One Hour Runner. I'm starting Week 6 and last week's long run (38 minutes but I misread and ran 39) wasn't that bad! I took Russ's to a friend's and ran in her neighborhood, so maybe it was the change of scenery, or the beautiful weather. I didn't look at my timer until 17 minutes into the run, and even after that I managed to keep my eyes away from the clock.

Russ's stitches are out and he's pretty much unaffected by the whole thing. The doctor who took out the stitches said he's never had a toddler stay so still through the removal process! He's already been rewarded by going to the outside pool twice, since he's being super-good about keeping his hat on even in the water. (Mama doesn't want him to get a Harry Potter scar!)

tech difficulties - using Nintendo DS to type this. I dont get this browser very well. computer is nroken. i dont remember my password and cant get to my email, so new log in, l am afraid. other than the computer, things are good. I ran 4 miles - 45 min yesterday AND lost now 26+ lbs. computer will be fixed next week. miss you guys!

Awwww, poor Corinna! But such a resourceful girl she is. I had no idea you could do all that with a Nintendo DS!! (of course, my DD won't even let me HOLD hers, for fear I'll break it  )

My 2 running buddies - you're doing GREAT!! Keep up the awesome work and wonderful runs and I'll be back in the game very soon along with ya. :thumbsup2

:grouphug: well, it is an inelegant, futzy solution, kind of a PITA really, but I am ultimately glad I have the DS browser. My race Wednesday was good. 3 miles in 31:51 - my garmin had been mis-plugged and was dead, so I borrowed 8 y/o son`s watch and just did my best. I hd been hoping I could do 32 minutes - my dream came true! Today, I crazily ran 4 miles again- slower and easier - 49 minutes. an 11 mile week - crazy. pluss a huge lot of walking. my weight is unchanged - food has been more marginal. :( DH is arriving tomorrow with a working laptop. very exciting! I'll post photos then. Kim-lookig forwad to hearing about your next run. ;)

Its back on the "dreadmill" again after a "no good reason" break. I work at a school so you would think that when school gets out I would exercise more, not so- more time to make excuses "I'll run later", "now its too hot to run", "I'll run tommorrow", "I'll run when I get to the beach", "I'll run at night after I get home from the beach" .....and the list goes on and on.
I think I did well today after not running for a few weeks. 2 miles and only one (2 min.) walking break. My pace was slower but that's to be expected. I don't think I need to start the C25K again, I'll just try to eliminate that break and increase my distance.
I have the added motivation of a wedding in August (not mine :lmao: ) I have the cutest black dress that I want to wear  .

You gals sound like you are all doing so well! Remember way back when we started?
