Me too"I AM TWEETING" - ugh. I let myself be drawn in.
what is Paint the night ?
Wondering out loud here. Could Paint the Night be coming?
what is Paint the night ?
Spectromagic wasn't completely destroyed, was it.....?????DISCLAIMER:
TALKING, WONDERING, CONJECTURING OUTLOUD
using info shared by insiders and public info.
Lots of bloggers and folks on here that know people on the inside that were told that PTN was coming.
DL went ballistic, it hasn't been there that long.
Why does the prettier more popular younger sister get everything?!? Except Marvel.
Sudden stepping back and vague press releases.
Chaos at the top.
THEN more info began coming out regarding the PTN costuming issues.
The are very heavy and there are parts they must hold up.
Pain, injuries and ............. drum roll ........ repeated workman's comp.
You know enough reports and others become involved in it.
And we are talking California.
I mean my kid has a minor ER visit and I get a letter from insurance co lawyers asking who caused the injury.....
SO ........... imagine a heavy, injurious (is that a word?) costume in SoCal coming to hot humid FL.
This could be a way bigger problem than the whining in DL.
PTN goes to the rehab factory and the park powers that be have to come up with another plan.
So all that stuff at MK backstage .... gets shipped back out, completely useless to WDW.
NOW
Pretending to be Disney Brains...
Now what, let's think this through.
MSEP is going to DL.
It's their parade.
We were on borrowed time.
It worked well through the recession and beyond.
It needs a rehab.
Just let it go.
But it's MK's 45th!
Yeah.
So what do we do besides cupcakes and buttons?
Can't blow a wad of money when the 50th is coming and it should be HUGE party.
Let's borrow PTN for a few years.
[insert above cluster]
Okay let's work backwards.
We need something big for the 50th.
BIG
Let's design and build something new.
Brand new.
Something they will own and can stay a long time.
Perfect.
Deal.
Ummm, that is 5 years away.
The guests are not happy now.
It's going to get worse after the holidays.
At least we can pacify some with the holiday parades.
But then, they are going to be so mean.
They will never accept a dark Main Street.
Summer hours, no parade, ugly.
For five years, Grumpy guests.
And that is if we are lucky.
Some may be frustrated with another loss and not come.
BUT we are already spending SO much in DHS the next few years.
AK and Mr. Joe and Rumors of Light have killed our bank accounts.
Let's not forget the recovery from being #Shanghaiied.
And our attendance is down, been a long hot summer.
We need something to gap this.
Call everyone you know.
Maybe someone has something we can use.
Maybe the guests will never know we got it second hand.
Cool, I think there is something in a warehouse.
Let's see if we can use it.
BUT it will need work. Dusting, cleaning, lots of pixie dust.
What do we do in the meantime?
We have rioting guests.
We have guests leaving the parks early to go to the darkside.
We have entertainment CMs afraid their pay is getting cut in half, looking for new jobs.
We have a reputation for magic in the night.
Wishes is old and not enough.
I got it, we can entertain folks at night with things we already have for now.
Let's go to the Home Depot and buy some stuff ... it will work ... I know it.
Call MacGyver and get this thing done.
As DD would say "Cool story bro" but hey .......... what if it works out to be true?![]()
Yeah -- I thought this was rumored to come back a while ago, no??Spectromagic wasn't completely destroyed, was it.....?????
Spectromagic wasn't completely destroyed, was it.....?????
As well they should.
What a letdown!
I would so love for that to be true....but I thought all the lights had been returned to the family?Osborne Family Lights has been rumored for quite a while now as well:

I thought so, too. I suppose if you're Disney anything done can be undone for the right price??I would so love for that to be true....but I thought all the lights had been returned to the family?
So do we actually think there will be a REAL announcement tomorrow? Dare I even dream??
And here I still sit trying to think of other old "lights" that could be revived. Certainly MK wouldn't be conducive for the Lights of Winter.....???

Speaking of those lights, I found a hidden Minnie in a tree last year just off of the street. Was super excited but no one seemed to be aware of it when I asked the cast members in the area.
And, I am sure something similar to this picture has been posted, but I do not feel inclined to sift through 730 pages to find it.

The name Osborne is not important to me, personally. But a "similar" light show somewhere seems eminently doable, and who doesn't like bright lights around the holidays?! Seems like a no-brainer.This is a tough one.
"Osborne Lights" are done. As in all the old structures the Osborne Family owned were returned to them. Contract is done. I will assume any of the structures that were now being used that resembled the old Osborne's were destroyed to avoid any legal issues with them. If you are familiar with Osborne's original stuff and saw it when it started at Disney (I did) there is NO comparison in what they received and what we all visualize. It had long long ago stopped looking like the Osborne's stuff which wasn't much different than some yards now. Even after the first year it arrived Disney took it to new levels. There were some similar items built and they maintained the spirit but what we were seeing for most of it's time at WDW were Disney added lights.
This is a year after it arrived and Disney had already added to it .....

So YES Disney can certainly bring back a light show as good as since it was mostly their work anyway ... location is key. I would so love and totally pay for a private Muppet Courtyard showing. I think they would receive some backlash though if a pay only as rumored. Streets of America were SO SO perfect for all of it but if we aren't sentimental about it being on "buildings" I think they could really pull off something as big and good as the past in Epcot, Futureland truly has lots of wide walk ways that could handle it. They would just need to build the infrastructure to hold it up. They have in the past, this just needs to be bigger.
First picture is Osborne's soldiers ..... Second is Disney soldiers we know built to resemble Osborne.
