Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I am guessing 1, as well. It's about the same price as H&V F! and that is only 1 credit.
I actually was just looking at H&V F! The other day and according to Disney's website it is up to $53.99 per adult and $32.99 per child so this is actually cheaper
:)

Does the H&V F! dinner package have characters? I'm just wondering if they up the charge at TH because of the characters?
Yes, there are characters at the dinner at H&V. Gives me hope that TH will only be 1 credit!

Yes there are characters
It is now called Minnie's seasonal dine and the characters costumes and the dinner menu changes every couple months

Yep. Both the lunch and dinner F! packages have characters. (Disney Jr for lunch and Minnie/friends for dinner)

I would guess 2.

I would guess 1, 2 for Tiffin's.
I imagine TH to be the equivalent of H&V, which is just 1 and Tiffin's to be like BD, which is 2

I agree...I think Tusker will be 1 TS, Tiffins 2. Not sure what they will do with Flame Tree. I've see info that said no QS DDP for Flame Tree

I didn't know H&V added characters permanently!! That's great. I thought it was just for the holiday last year.

We may have to book it now over Mama Melrose. Can't be any worse than Chef Mickeys, right ? :)

What makes you think that standby won't work? It works for Fantasmic! Perhaps not the best seats, and you'll have to get there early, but I haven't seen anything suggesting there won't be any standby for ROL seating.

The seating is 5000 people. That's small compared to other Disney shows. There's a good chance in the beginning, first few months:confused3, that the only seating available may be through dining packages and FP+. Supposedly, because of the layout of AK and the stage placement, viewing from the anything but the stadium seats will be very suboptimal, if you can even get a view at all. Granted, everything is still rumor or up in the air, because we really won't know until it opens. So, that is part of the reason for urgency to get a guaranteed seat. Just like if F! fills up, then you can't see it. For reference, F! seats about 8000 people. Early on, it used to fill up both shows. Now, not so much.

Is this ROL gonna be a permanent thing cause there is no dates posted for sept? I noticed AK is staying open later in April and May one day in June and then stops.

TH is 1 now with characters, so I'm guessing it will also be 1 for the package. Mama Melrose is another example of a TS that's one credit for both a regular dinner and the Fantasmic! package.

Off topic.....DDP prices went up 3% overnight
Interesting...everything seems to be going up in the past few weeks (ticket prices, menu prices, DDP) and there is another thread today about a new Disney survey proposing a separate "resort fee" instead of just including it in the room rates.

Yes, I saw that too. I guess they need to pay for Shanghai

Sooo, Like all here, I wanna be "at the starting gate" when these ADRs open for the RoL Dining Package. I've seen an number of different MDE pages posted here. What page or pages are you all going to be checking first on the day you think it may open for bookings (11th?)
I'll be checking the main dining page. Expect it to show up as a separate booking option like Fantasmic dining packages do.

Hi everyone,

Really excited about ROL and the new nighttime attractions at AK. I was fortunate enough to be at AK for the park's soft opening in March of 1998, when they once had river cruises, and I'm really glad to see that the river is coming back to life.

I will be arriving on May 5th. I just called WDW Dining and the CM said she has been watching anxiously as well. She spoke to her supervisor and they don't have any information on dining packages yet. However, she said it wouldn't hurt to make ADR's in advance and then potentially you can just add a ROL package onto it once they are announced (though no guarantees, of course). I hedged my bet on Tusker House. Like BOG, which has settled down somewhat now, the CM says they expect ROL to be insanely popular in the first few months. The latest reservation I see all week (May 9-13) is 6:30 p.m.

I'll keep on it and will post if I see anything! Wishing us all pixie dust in finding reservations / tickets! pixiedust:

Just one thing I thought I'd mention... I agree that it absolutely wouldn't hurt! :) My experience with these things is that you'd have to be out there competing with the rest of us (!!) for a new package ADR, which could then just overwrite your existing ADR (the system will prompt you to OK replacing the old ADR with the new package if you try for the same time -- no need to cancel the original ADR before trying for the package).

There hasn't been such a thing as just "adding" a package to a regular ADR, to my knowledge over the years.

Still - no harm in having a placeholder for your day anyway, and as I've been saying WHO KNOWS if they might do something differently this time... with ANY of this! :)

EDITED TO CLARIFY italicized portion above.

I agree, you have to cancel an ADR and book a package. I think sometimes they say they are adding it to make it sound simpler.
Actually they kind of confuse guests this way.
But, as you say, who knows what they will do in the future.
