Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Just one thing I thought I'd mention... I agree that it absolutely wouldn't hurt! :) My experience with these things is that you'd have to cancel that ADR and be out there competing with the rest of us (!!) for a new package ADR to replace it with.

There hasn't been such a thing as just "adding" a package to a regular ADR, to my knowledge over the years.

Still - no harm in having a placeholder for your day anyway, and as I've been saying WHO KNOWS if they might do something differently this time... with ANY of this! :)

Good to know - thank you! So glad to have such great advice from all of you because what the CM said was misleading about "updating". I hope we all are able to make the reservations that we hope for!

:) One thing I'm not sure I was clear about, that @figmentfan423 mentioned -- just in case you haven't had this experience before: you wouldn't need to cancel your existing TH ADR BEFORE TRYING to book the package. You'd just try for the package ADR at the same time as your existing one (if that's what you wanted), and if available at the same time, the system would just prompt you that you'd have to cancel the old ADR in order to book the new package. They hold the old one until your new one is confirmed. Works well. :)

That's great! I'd hate to see an opening for ROL and have to go back, cancel the existing one and then try and book the new one. It would be gone for sure! :headache:  Thank you!! :)

I have read AK will be open until 11:30 when the night time activities begin. Will this be every night or just select nights ? Anyone hear anything about the hours?

With the changes to MDE your old ADR isn't cancelled until the new one is confirmed

Yes, and just to clarify, people don't need to cancel and then look for the package. Look for the package and as part of the process it will ask you if you want to cancel your existing reservation.

That said, I was in the mix last year on the day when BOG breakfast and lunch ADRs went online. I saw a time slot available, clicked it but by the time I clicked through the 3 steps to finish the reservation, it wouldn't let me complete it and the ADR was gone. I assumed at the time that when you click the time to reserve it it doesn't actually hold it for you. So whoever gets thru the process first gets it. Anyone know if that's true or not? I could see that having been a glitch too. But if that is true, it would give a slight advantage to people who don't have an ADR during that time.

Also my SIL and I were both trying to get that BOG ADR for our family last year. We both missed out in the morning but SIL went back at 5 pm, figuring site issues would be worked out and the dust would be settled and she actually got a lunch ADR (admittedly at 10:30 am which isn't the best time) for our party of 11. So even if you don't get anything in that first hour crunch, it might still be worth looking back later. You never know when a little pixie dust might come your way.

That is the way it was explained to me also. You are not locking it in till you get the confirmation screen. Until then, someone fast could grab it

BOLD is my understanding as well. I always make sure I'm logged in to MDE, and that I have a saved credit card on file and ready to go (so I don't have to add in during the reservation process and waste time). Zoom through that process ASAP!! :)

I'm officially spooked now and have canceled the existing reservation just in case! Maybe I should check on my internet speed too, lol! :badpc: These trips to the magic are too rare to not get the things we have hoped for.

Thanks, everyone!! :thanks:

Whatever eases some of the stress; I empathize, to be sure!! :) I will just share that I've never had an issue overwriting one ADR with another -- it's usually a very quick step. I TOTALLY believe that it can happen here and there, but I've booked MANY ADRs over the years and have not had a problem since they added this feature to MDE. (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!!) :)

I'm not sure what's worse… Waiting for the ROL packages to open or the daily news of a price increase at WDW.
For me it's waiting for ROL! I'm not usually such a drama queen, but I'll be heartbroken if I can't find a way to see it while I'm there. My BFF is joining me as well. She lives far away from me and we haven't seen each other in over 2 years, so we're ready for some magic! I'll be stalking My Disney Experience like crazy over the next few days (not to mention y'all )

I'm guessing I am going to make some other dinner plans for our 4/25 Animal Kingdom day.

We'd been planning Ohana dinner at 8:00pm with a walk along Poly beach for fireworks as our goodbye Disney night before our flight home the next day. I've been planning this trip for over a year and every other night is booked up with fun stuff at other parks. Thought this would be a magical way to end our stay, we've never done Ohana at night before.

Looks like I can get a Kona earlier dinner and the hop back over to AK for night time activities. Or maybe just eat at Olivia's since we are at OKW? Also thought about Sanaa which we love but the earliest ADR I see is after 8pm. Just hoping (like everyone else reading this thread!) that there will be some way to snag FP+ or a dining package (would prefer Tiffins, we have a lunch ADR at TH) to secure seats.

I'd hate to cancel our special Ohana night and trek kids and grandma back to AK to possibly get a stand by seat at RoL.

Any ideas? Other than keep my eyes on this post lol :surfweb::earseek:

And I know for me, the App is wonky so I never do this on the app, always the website.
When I try to make dining ADR on the app it never wants to pull up my credit card info, doesn't matter if I'm logged in or not

Me either. In fact, I once had my screen lock up to the point I had to close my browser, but when I finally got back in, and clicked back into MDE, it took me right back to the same place, and I was able complete my hard to get reservation. That's not to say it can't happen. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!

I always use my computer... I find the app to be more... Temperamental at times! I always have the app nearby... Just in case Disney IT surprises me and the app works and laptop doesn't!! :rotfl:

I think that was the info that came from a media source, and I think it said the park "could be open as late as 11.30pm on some nights." I very much doubt the park will be open that late every single night, especially during the slower times, but I can see them keeping the park open that late during peak season.

Sooo good to hear - thank you! I'm practicing speed typing as we speak! I wonder if there is such a thing as finger calisthenics, lol. I'd prefer to make the ressies online because I'm sure by the time I get past the autobot in the phone system, everything will be long gone.

I hope everyone's ROL dreams come true! :genie:

I wish they would change the park hours on the calendars so I can figure out my plans lol

I would NOT use the app if you have an existing reservation that you might want/need if something goes wrong.

On the computer it holds your old reservation until the new one is confirmed. I have not had the same experience with the app. It will cancel the old ADR before the new one is booked.
