Plus a lot of people will want the newer units with two bathrooms in the one BRs, the older units will not seem nearly as attractive to families when you take that into account.
VGC is rumoured to sell out before the end of summer. CMs in CA have already been briefed on a DVC tower going in at the DL Hotel which will be all DVC, but with the delays in bringing out WoC, the Little Mermaid Ride and Cars Land the construction has been put on hold. Evidently Californians are just starting to get on board with the whole DVC concept which could possibly lead to more demand at WDW.
.
I don't know so much about "associated with a Deluxe" as "has a convenience or feature that other places don't have." I don't think people care that, say, Kidani has Jambo next door. I also don't know that anyone at BCV really cares that BC/YC is next door as a cash resort. If the whole BCV/YC/BC complex were DVC units, that would be fine with the BCV fans. But, if you moved Epcot, well, the BCV fans would be apoplectic. But at the same time, the large campus resorts aren't as popular as the resorts associated with a Deluxe, which seems unlikely in this case.
Again, I'm not sure it would be that hard to sell such a development. On the other hand, a standalone DVC resort wouldn't have to be "condo style". You could build something more "hotel-style" (much as BLT and AKV are) without having to associate it with an existing resort.I do think another condo-style DVC (SSR, OKW) would be a mistake
No, but there aren't many left that are. I like the art-deco resort near DS idea, but the park's entrance is landlocked by its parking lot and the water access. Likewise with AKV. Epcot area is just about cooked except for small expansions. And, there's no need to go back to the MK well already.and the location doesn't sound particularly compelling.
Any new resort is going to have a lead time of at least 2 1/2 years--more if there is significant ground prep work required.
I can't speak to the validity of this rumor but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if something starts up by the end of the year. I don't see there being more than 3 years' worth of points left at Kidani + BLT.
And I agree with the poster who said that Disney needs to have something in the hopper at WDW. Sales volumes may not be quite what they were 18-24 months ago but prices are certainly higher and the economy is still in the crapper. I just don't see ANY evidence to suggest that Disney is running out of sales prospects for WDW resorts.
I do think another condo-style DVC (SSR, OKW) would be a mistake and the location doesn't sound particularly compelling. But, as always, the devil is in the details. I would have to reserve judgment until I know more.
For what it's worth, Guides (who are, after all, in the business of selling timeshares) have been known to stretch the truth on these issues from time to time.our guide told us that they where forecasting to be sold out for AKV, BLT and VGC within a year even with the economy downturn.
GF DVC.
I also think people who have bought at VGC LOVE their home resort. Almost all the comments I read are overwhelmingly positive. I think this will translate into more demand at disneyland from those owners (myself included)
After having returned from my third stay in the last six weeks, and my first in a one bedroom, I do have to say I LOVE this resort. Prior to my stays in studios (the first two trips to VGC) I had only stayed in the larger units 1 or 2 bedrooms and the THV. I've stayed at SSR, BWV and Kidani, but when I walked into that 1 BR unit at the VGC, I was just floored! It was huge and just gorgeous. The open kitchen floorplan was spectacular, the two bathrooms were great even though we were just two people. I do still like the layout of SSR & BWV, but I can see people who get used to the VGC having a big let down at many of the older resorts in FL. They'll have to keep building them better and better each time!
I would contend that if there was/are plans for DVC rooms at the Dland hotel they were put on hold due to slow sales. I have heard of no delays for WOC or Carsland, what have you heard?VGC is rumoured to sell out before the end of summer. CMs in CA have already been briefed on a DVC tower going in at the DL Hotel which will be all DVC, but with the delays in bringing out WoC, the Little Mermaid Ride and Cars Land the construction has been put on hold.
I disagree. The whole purpose of DVC is to constantly bring people back to staying on Disney property and spending money on Disney property.I hear what you are saying, but when it comes to the bottom line, DVC really is not about filling rooms, it is about selling contracts.
