Rumor on possible new DVC resort

I'd have no interest in a DVC at the GF. It's too stuffy for our taste. Poly would be a different story though, but I think they are able to sell rooms at the Poly easily, so why bother converting a portion to DVC?
From a personal use standpoint, I agree. However, I think there are many who feel otherwise. IMO, anything added to the system that's above the average current demand is a good thing even if I never use it personally. Plus, having more options in the system is almost always a good thing as well.

Has anyone else seen the new news on Screamscape this morning?

"???? - New DVC Resort - Rumor - (6/5/10) While I haven’t heard anything more about that rumored new DVC resort project across from the Coronado, other sources have confirmed that Disney is currently attempting to finalize plans to create a DVC add-on to the Grand Floridian. "

What do we think?
I feel like we've heard this rumor before..? I would be somewhat interested in a GF DVC, but not enough to own there. I know lots of people dream of a Poly DVC but DH and I don't "get" the allure of that resort. However, regardless of what the next WDW DVC resort is, I'll be happy to have more options! :thumbsup2

That it would be fabulous. :thumbsup2

I suspect a DVC at the GF would have higher point per night costs along the lines of GVC being slightly higher, and Aulani probably being higher.

ITA, Poly is their most popular resort. I think any expansion of Poly will be to add more hotel rooms.

Do you think just a simple DVC add-on at Grand Floridian without a separate building being built is enough of an incentive for people to want it as a home resort?

I wonder if AKL just stuck with its conversion to DVC of its upper floors in Jambo House and didn't build Kidani Village, would people have wanted to buy there.

I just don't think there would be enough rooms and it would make even having the 11 month advantage difficult to get a reservation.

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to these things, so please correct me if I'm wrong in my line of thinking!

I took a quick look at the satellite shot of the GF plot. There aren't a lot of obvious places for new buildings. The most likely seems to be the spot between the resort and the wedding pavilion. The rest of the resort is surrounded by existing parking lot or the drainage canal to the north.

I suppose they *could* do a conversion, but i'm not sure that the Grand is that hard to sell as cash rooms.
