Rumor- New Second Island and 2 new Ships!

I work for a company that survey and certify ships both existing and new builds. We worked on the builds for Dream and Fantasy as well as completing surveys on Magic and Wonder.

I'll keep an ear/eye out if we get the contract to work on anything new.

I just wanted to say that I have interacted with the folks running the DIS and the individual who tweeted that rumor originally, and I believe they would never intentionally post a false rumor to stir up hits or anything like that. Even at the tim, he said it was just a rumor.

Devil's advocate here - just because they added the word "rumor" to the tweet does not prove that they weren't trying to juice hits and clicks. In fact, if they knew what they were tweeting was false, they'd be stupid not to add "rumor". It's a "get out of jail free" card when the purported news doesn't happen.

That having been said, I don't think that's what happened. Still, whoever did post that tweet might dig a little deeper next time before posting. I can't find any other site covering D23 that ran with that rumor, which makes me wonder how reliable the source was.

They got the salacious good news for everyone, but yet no rumor of the revised alcohol policy?

Just goes to show then who is more important. Their viewers and members, or affiliation.
Besides it is an xxxxx'ed out website name on here that first reported it after D23 had finished.
They could have then, but would that affect future relationships?

Well, you and I can agree to disagree on whether or not they falsified the ship/island rumor, but the idea that they sat on the alcohol news out of fear of angering Disney? I'd believe that in a heartbeat.

According to reliable sources......

Disney has secret plans to build scaled down version of the Magic Kindom in the Carribean that you can only access thru DCL. They've signed a 100 year lease with on an pretty big island. The ships will dock at the island for 2 days. It won't have need of hotels as people would stay the ship. There will be rides and attractions, beaches and water park.

I'm kidding.....I just wanted to start another rumor.

I would think that, since they are doing it this winter, and the 2016 cruises are all out, they would have made some announcement saying that they were continuing it.

Generally, specially themed cruises are done during "slow" times in order to beef up people booking them. There's really no need to add anything to summertime cruises, as they are pretty much easily sold.

My (unconfirmed) Crystal Ball is that we will see more SWDaS cruises that coincide with the release of either Star Wars VIII or Star Wars Rogue 1. That is based on nothing more than "what I would do if I were an executive at DCL".

I think there's little chance of a second island. A more likely scenario would be to expand the existing Island to accommodate two ships - this would make MUCH more economic sense as you could still have one staff setup to handle the larger crowds. You would have to expand the beaches somewhat, but that wouldn't be a big problem.

I really don't think they will need a 2nd island as I don't see more 3 vessels operating steady in home waters. I do believe you will see one in Europe and one in south American waters or the far east and Australia and the last the Wonder on the Alaska, Hawaiian and Mexican trade.

Disney never bought CC. They rented it for 99 years. There is also restrictions on the rest of the island regarding any development of the presently wilderness land.

Anyone (besides me) hear the rumor a few years ago of a DVC resort on Castaway Cay? A second island for DCL makes me hope that rumor starts up again!

For what its worth, I was talking to the guys running the jetski excursion on castaway cay earlier this month . I n March there were only 2 days where a ship wasnt at the island. If they are adding 2 more ships, one island may not be enough.

I think construction on the island is unlikely. They dont own the land and the infrastructure costs would be huge.
