Rumor- New Second Island and 2 new Ships!

I personally wish for more west coast cruises. I know Mexico has been a challenge, and I do understand about needing a foreign port, but Princess seems to be the only line that offers closed loop Pacific coast cruises consistently, other lines primarily just do re-positioning. Seems like an untapped market to me, and could be nice with a Disneyland tie in. San Diego, Catalina Island, San Pedro/Long Beach, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Astoria are all nice ports with Victoria or Ensenada thrown in for the foreign port. I know wishful thinking.... but a girl can dream!

I love this idea and really hope it could pan out. It would be great if they did a series of 3, 4 and 7 night cruises out of Long Beach. Us "Zonies" could then do long weekends and get our Disney fix instead of just going to DL all the time. It probably won't happen but a man can dream. They could even do one of the D23 conventions on the ship!

I'd love to see more southern caribbean sailings. I wonder if they are popular enough to dedicate a ship to those with a home port in San Juan. Then they may need that 2nd private island as well. Just dreaming...

Disney could very easily do more southern itins if they left out of Miami or Ft Lauderdale. Princess does it now out of FtL.

:thumbsup2 Add a 10 night to the options, and I'm totally on board!!!! pun intended :lmao:

I did Princess out of FL as far back as 1990 on a Southern Caribbean.

That's exactly what I mean. Even with 4 ships putting the Magic in Miami or even Ft Lauderdale opens up possibilities. They could still tie the ships into WDW land seas lime the do woth the PC ships. Moving the Fantasy put or the Dream out would be foolish considering all of the other lines at PC are expanding on the number of ships cabins and size.

Consider this. Between the Dream and Fantasy there are about 7500 available rooms a week.
Royal and Carnival are adding more and bigger ships and have surpassed DCL in cabin count. Hey wouldn't be doing it if they weren't getting people on the ships.

IF they do indeed bring on 2 new ships I am no gambler but I would bet on one of the ships staying on the west coast. As for DCL sailing out of Miami, ugh. Forgive me Miami lovers but that is a city I avoid. I would have to be able to book a real DEAL to sail out of that port…..FLL not so bad. But living where I do, only an hour from Port Canaveral, THAT is the port I love!! :yay:

Agree bar the maths, Dream and fantasy have 1250 rooms that's 3750 available per week, or 12000 passengers, note Dream does two cruises a week.

In the summer the cruises do not fill as well as the winter when sailing from PC. Since 2005 DCL has taken a ship out of PC,

2005 Magic to LA leaving the Wonder.
2007 Magic to the Med leaving the Wonder.
2008 as 2005.
2010 Magic goes to the Baltic, and Med.
2011 Wonder goes to Alaska in summers and Magic always to Europe.

From 2017- 5 years post the Fantasy arrival in PC the new ships can leave, now there is still minimal port calls, they could make that up in winter, or replace the Fantasy with the Magic.

Don't forget NCL is tossing Epic in to the mix out of PC starting winter of 2016. There is about to be a whole lot of capacity added that winter given what Royal and Carnival have done as well.

No news on anything but the Frozen sing a long that has been going on for the last 45 minutes...

"Everything else was already known including Tangled show on Magic starting later this year, more cruises to Norway next summer with Frozen day and Star Wars day at sea on select sailings next Spring." -A person that is at D23 at the moment

Ugh.... I was all excited for some good new news...

They announced that there are no new announcements for DCL except for: Everything else was already known including Tangled show on Magic starting later this year, more cruises to Norway next summer with Frozen day and Star Wars day at sea on select sailings next Spring.

Such a bummer; but I'm not surprised. Scarcity (small fleet) is working for them and keeping prices high, boats full.

Sigh. I'm disappointed. :sail:
