Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

In regards to mask wearing, I think the bigger worry shouldn't be whether people will decide to avoid wearing them properly. We all know that's going to happen. The bigger concern is going to be the non-CM enforcement warrior who decides to call those people out. The kids are screaming. The sun is blazing. All it takes is calling out the wrong person who has already at their personal tipping point for the day for that inevitable escalation. I'd put as much money on that happening as I would knowing that some people are just going to do everything they can to not wear a mask. I'd bet even more money if we decide to predict by park. Non-MK parks equal alcohol which make this even more likely.

I said If someone temperature is high and they denied entry THOSE people should be given the chance to prove they doesn`t have COVID. I would gladly pay for a test IN CASE MY TEMPERATURE is too high to prove I don`t have the virus.

If a temperature reading shows a fever and it turns out they have some other virus or flu then the screening is just an extra win for Disney and their guests. No one wants people transmitting any diseases at Disney.

I do agree with this completely. I myself got sick more that once in the Parks.

Also I`m not a health professional but I do know that some conditions comes with elevated temperature. So what I`m trying to stay it`s not a given that it`s caused by a contagious disease or the cause of the fever is a virus.

I know the answer probably that people should take the chance it can happen and not to go to WDW If you are not willing to take the chance....

I always wonder that the person who suggest this ( generally not talking about you) has upcoming holidays booked in the foreseeable future or just like to weight in however It won`t effect them at all?

This is exactly why the masks will not be required for long. It is already happening around the country and in the high stress/hot days of summer in the parks, it will happen enough to be an issue.

How would that conversation go? Look at my test results, I only have the flu. COVID-19 came in negative. Can I go into the park now? Of course, COVID-19 only presents with a fever a third of the time, and the test for it isn’t great.

I don’t see why Disney should be testing people for COVID-19. It’s a real burden.

I think, it’s a good thing keeping sick people out of the parks.

Disney could tie mask wearing violations to tickets and magic bands. The first time a customer gets a warning. The second time they get another warning. The third time their ticket and magic band will flag them and not work at the gate when they try to enter the park again.

You could probably do it all remotely and notify the customer via the app. A CM sees them on the camera without a mask and a notification pops up on the app. No CM interaction. It’s all done with cameras. It’s like red light cameras.

The interaction would be when they aren’t let into the park. But you can have security at the gates to help with this.

It seems like saying "everyone has to wear a mask all day and everywhere" is just a system designed to fail from the start for all the reasons people have said.
I'm sure most people coming will enter with the plan to wear a mask all day long. But it's like what Mike Tyson once said: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." This time, the punch will be the 120 degree heat index after about 5 hours.

Most experts I've seen seem to believe that the risk of virus transmission from person to person outside in the hot sun is extremely low. That doesn't take into account touching things and then your mouth, but the mask really doesn't help in that situation anyway. It's designed to keep large aerosol droplets from coming out of an infected person and immediately being inhaled by someone in close proximity. If they're limiting crowd size, that just seems extremely unlikely to me. Which is why CDC and health officials say you don't need a mask when jogging out for exercise.

All that to say, why not just really work on enforcing the high risk areas - inside stores, queues, and even on the rides itself. I think the average person that's going to try to do the right thing could suck it up, even in the heat, and keep it on all day in those areas. And it would be easier for parents to enforce their kids in those areas rather than constantly checking the 3 year old on the stroller, etc. Then, when they're strolling through the park otherwise (and drinking lots of water anyway), they don't have to worry about being accosted by the aggressive guests and the Cast Members don't have to spend their time constantly being the bad guy out in the wide open spaces. Of course, if they want to wear it in those areas, fine. But it just seems like they need a plan that can be followed and enforced where it is the highest yield.

That sounds horrible. What if they accidentally picked the wrong magic band to flag? What if you're getting a drink of water? Are you serious with this idea?

Personally I'm not cancelling anything based on rumors. But, I have the ability to see how things develop for now as my trip isn't until mid/late June.

Mine too. I have one trip with check-in June 29th and one for July 1. If both go through, we will just do a split stay.

Me too. My stay is June 26-July 4 but it is with the normal free dining. If I change my check in date, the offer is invalid. It may end up invalid anyway, who knows? But I have never been quick enough to get the free dining offer when it is announced so I hate to cancel it until they make me do it. Hopefully if they do open July 1 I can modify it then to just the July dates and add a few days.

You could be positive and not running a fever at all. I think the fever check is more of a way just to keep sick people out of the parks, period. They aren’t turning you back because you have the virus, they’re turning you back because you have a fever. If it weren’t for it not being really feasible long term, I wouldn’t mind seeing it becoming the norm. The number of people running a significant fever that are perfectly healthy has to very, very low, if it even happens at all.

The only test you could use is the quick result, they’re not readily available and seems foolish to use up resources just because someone wants to get in a theme park who shouldn’t be there regardless.

And personally I definitely don’t see them “making it right”. They pulled the offer early + I think they refused to honor it for anyone who had their rebooked trips cancelled...

I think they learned their lesson about offering an incentive before the parks open. They disappointed a lot of people who had already been disappointed once. I’m sure they got a lot of kick back afterwards, not likely they’ll do it again, IMO.

If they have you on camera in an area where you’re supposed to wear a mask, then it’s hard to get it wrong. I have pics of me on the mine train tied to my magic band. They already have the technology to deploy this in the parks. This is far easier than asking CMs to ask people to wear masks.

They left incentives for DLR, DCL and ABD intact. They only cut the cord on WDW, so I don’t think it has anything to do with not knowing when they’ll open. I think it’s basic demand. Which would mean demand for WDW is good enough they don’t need an offer where as demand for CA, cruises & international travel not so much...
