Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I think opening the hotels without parks is a recipe for a lot of unhappy customers.

While it happens, not that many people will pay the prices to stay at a Disney resort with no parks. One reason people pay those rates are the advantages you get by staying on site- 60 day window, etc. We’ve never considered doing a resort only stay, never would. We’ve done some more relaxed trips with more resort time, but no parks at all? Not me, and I don’t think I’m unusual in that.

I'm sure locals would go there for the restaurants and or shopping for a "taste" of Disney without the parks.
There’s not that much shopping at resorts and it’s almost all souvenir type stuff. I don’t believe they’d come close to breaking even with locals just stopping in.

Considering some ammenities/features at the Resort also look like they’d be limited (closed pools?) it’s getting harder to see how one could justify the $$$ :/ So disappointing.

I typically do 2 days at Vero to ensure that we can have “relax” days. It’s less tempting to go to the parks when you’re 2 hours away and you have the beach right there. I do wish there was more to do around the resort though

Again I wonder why? I mean you can cancel at any time. I have a trip late June. If only hotels and DS and restaurants in the hotels, we will go. But if we didn't like that, we cancel. Why be unhappy customer? It is what it is? Everybody wants to complain these days. As long as it is communicated and we have a choice, why complain? But I am a Tigger! :tigger:

But are enough people like you to make it worth it for them? Remember, staffing the resorts isn’t cheap. So if they don’t have many people OK with purely resort stays, then it’s not worth it to them.

Unless they announce they’re not opening the parks until July 1st, but they’ll open the resorts on June 1st, but drastically cut the price of the hotel rooms just to have some incoming revenue.

Their hotels aren’t exactly Ramada in the middle of nowhere prices. Yes, some people gojust to be on property and stay at their hotel the entire trip, but a majority pay the top dollar pricing of their hotels to go to the parks.
The Disney hotel prices, especially the deluxe category, are ridiculous. I get people pay them (including me!), but super-insanely overpriced.

Not saying anyone is like me. I'm a Tigger. I'm almost the only one! But, I expect the resorts to have floors closed and less people working on them IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARKS OPEN. So, my $580 a night room at the Riv might only have a few takers but will be going towards far less workers, etc.

I have DVC, got it in 2010 right before my sister stopped working for them so it was a heavily discounted rate. That’s the only reason I can stay at the Poly or Beach club or else I’d be staying at Port Orleans. Not that there’s anything wrong with PO

I’m not complaining as I don’t have a reservation for June. I just think there would be a large group of people who do have reservations who would be upset if they were on the hook for the hotel and the parks weren’t open at all.

We've stayed Port Orleans, Poly and Yacht Club and liked all three.

They won't be "on the hook" for the hotel if the parks weren't open. They will be given the chance to cancel.

But even if they cut down the amount of people allowed to stay at resorts, there’s not much to do (on property) other than stay at your resort, resort hop, go to DS, or golf. All but one of those would cause spacial issues without having parks open. Resorts are packed during the day, especially pools when the parks are open. I can only imagine what it’d look like with no parks, even with reduced rooms
