Shanghai Disney - Government guidance says open at 30% but Disney will open lower than that and scale up in weeks.

Based on the additional measures and procedures, we ask for guest understanding of and compliance with the following requirements when Shanghai Disneyland reopens:*

1. Purchase dated admission tickets for Shanghai Disneyland prior to their arrival, as on-site sales will not be available. Annual Pass holders must make a reservation for their visit date and time through Shanghai Disney Resort’s official online channels before their visit to the park. During this “Advanced Reservation Period,” General Admission tickets for Shanghai Disneyland will not be accepted;**
2. Provide basic personal information for each guest visiting the park, including name, phone number, ID type and ID number via Shanghai Disney Resort’s official online channels after purchasing a ticket and prior to arriving at the resort. A Shanghai Disneyland Reservation QR Code will be provided after the successful submission of the required identification information, and guests will be required to present the code before entering the theme park;
3. Register for the Health QR Code prior to their arrival, which will be required to be presented upon entering any location at Shanghai Disney Resort. Only guests with a green Health QR Code will be allowed to enter the resort;
4. Be prepared to present a China government ID card, or valid travel document, for each guest at the park turnstiles (photos or printed copies will not be accepted);
5. Undergo temperature screening procedures upon arrival; and
6. Wear an approved mask during the entire visit to the resort except when dining.

Wow, it's a pretty strict reopening. A lot of what we speculated on here is fact for Shanghai, and I presume a lot of it will carry over to US Disney parks

P.S.: Masks are easy to implement in China, they're used to it. In stateside parks, I doubt it.

I agree. Just because they are implementing this in China does not mean that they will in the states. There are cultural norma that are very different. You have climate differences as well. We will wait and see. But, if I had to bet, I would say that they make face coverings for guests “suggested” but not required. Your biggest danger is while indoors. I’ve read that Disney is already looking into sanitizer fogs for indoor shows which may reduce the need for face coverings.

It does depend on what state your in though, but due to all the travel from elsewhere that come to Disney, I would bet anything masks will be required. That is because, for every person who doesn't want a mask required, I believe there are many more that do want a mask required. So when it comes to the dollars, the majority are going to win out, or Disney can risk losing even more people and money

It was specifically said on the call that how they handle things in Shanghai may not be how they handle things at the domestic parks.

Doesn't mean they won't end up implementing a few or a lot of those same procedures here, but it is what he said.

I dunno, I haven't made any predictions on the Shanghai opening.

China put in place a lot of those rules in Shanghai that Disney is being forced to follow. Those are not necessarily all guidelines that Disney came up with. Some of that stuff would violate laws here.

You’re right- they do not want to lose out on any possible dollars. That’s why I think it will be suggested, not required. It would be too difficult to enforce (remember that there are individuals who cannot tolerate a mask for medical reasons and the CDC does not recommend them for young children) and it may deter more money spenders than you could imagine. My bet is that those rushing to get a mask will not be (the majority of) those lining up to get into the parks upon reopening. Where I live face masks are not widely accepted. Personal choice is much more ingrained in the American culture than China. Could they require face masks for indoor shows? That seems much more likely to me. But, walking around the park, I believe it will not be enforced.

It's an app designed for the Chinese government that allows them to track people's current health status and risk of becoming infected or infecting others with COVID-19. It takes information from recent temperature checks, vitals and personal habits to determine if someone is a risk or not. The app generates a QR code that can be scanned, and will show the scanner if the citizen is green, yellow or red. Only those with a "green" scan will be allowed into the resort.
