Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I really don't see Disney not guaranteeing entry to the parks to resort guests. Even when the parks reach capacity limits, like on x-mas and 4th of july, the resort guests are always guaranteed entry into at least one of the parks.

We are all just speculating at this point. Shanghai allowing less than 24k in at first makes me wonder is all. I don’t have a trip booked this year. I’m just opining.

You’re right- they do not want to lose out on any possible dollars. That’s why I think it will be suggested, not required. It would be too difficult to enforce (remember that there are individuals who cannot tolerate a mask for medical reasons and the CDC does not recommend them for young children) and it may deter more money spenders than you could imagine. My bet is that those rushing to get a mask will not be (the majority of) those lining up to get into the parks upon reopening. Where I live face masks are not widely accepted. Personal choice is much more ingrained in the American culture than China. Could they require face masks for indoor shows? That seems much more likely to me. But, walking around the park, I believe it will not be enforced.
I shy away from only required at certain times thing due to the information we saw from Disney to CMs on how to wear and dispose of a face mask properly. Taking it off and putting it in your pocket is a huge no-no. As is throwing it in the nearest open trash can if disposable. While aware of the benefits they also seem to be keenly aware of the dangers of mishandled PPE... They could offer disposable masks outside theaters, instructions on how to wear them and special trash cans for disposal outside that are taken away after each performance...

Oklahoma here too. Remember Stillwater and their 3 hour requirement to wear masks before they caved after threats to employees ? We wear them too, but I rarely see anyone else unless I'm at Costco.

Yep. Crazy. We are in OKC - so not a small city. We don’t have a Costco membership, but haven’t seen lots of masks elsewhere.

This may be a silly question, but how do you wear a mask on a high speed ride? Disney does have a few thrill rides and coasters.

P.S.: Masks are easy to implement in China, they're used to it. In stateside parks, I doubt it.

Same way folks keep their glasses from flying off. They have special ones for masks.

I’m in Memphis, TN, and can definitely corroborate. Non-mask-wearers are still the majority here, and we’ve witnessed some mask-wearers get harassed by non-mask-wearers for wearing masks. It’s wild.

All you can do is turn the other cheek.

A point that's been raised before. The rides I can see it being a problem are Rock n Roller Coaster, Everest, and maybe Tower of Terror? Disney World really doesn't have that many thrill rides.
I really cant see any of those rides being an issue.

People ride EE with sunglasses and even hats and they generally stay on. Masks would in theory be tied tighter.

I think the air will just push the mask tighter to your face so it will grip more for the coasters. ToT doesn't really impose much in the way of forces at all so no risk at all.

If they aren’t going to enforce it then why even suggest? That just causes disputes between guests who take this seriously and those who don’t.
True. I don’t know. That’s what many states have implemented. Disney may not say anything on the matter for guests. Thus far the proposal from the Orange County task force (Florida) had no mention of any demands on guests.

I'm in Florida. The only place some people wear masks where I am is in the grocery stores because its always so jammed. And maybe 60% do it there.

Otherwise, no one wears them when they are out and about.

Where I’m at in Florida, Sarasota/Manatee, I see maybe 30% of people wearing masks. Some when they’re driving alone.....

Weird. I’m also in Florida, 40 miles from Disney. Most, like about 90% wear masks in stores or picking up takeout. No one wears masks playing golf. All wear masks at recreation centers because it’s required. Outdoor tennis and sport courts are not open, so I don’t know if there will be exceptions for them. Some wear them while running or biking, but not the majority.

And just a comparison for Shanghai Disney, I was there last Summer for a wedding, and the weather was exactly like Florida. Exactly. My aunt wanted to know why I had the right clothes for the weather. That said, I saw no masks. Went back and looked through pictures, nope, no masks.

Where are you? Here in northern Virginia the vast majority of people wear masks.
Here in Maryland, right over the river from you, people in my area only wear masks in the store because they have too, we walk around our neighborhood a lot, as do a lot of people right now, and its the opposite, we only see only about 10% wearing masks when not in the stores and everyone I talk to can’t stand wearing one.

If Disney chooses to do some type of daily reservation , I know they may not copy it from Shanghai but I think they will do something, it won't be easy. As far as the reservations go for on site guests they may have 2 options. The first limit the amount of resort guests at one time or they could ask people to choose dates even though they are resort guests. This way they could balance all types of paying guests. I know resort guests are usually get top preferences but I think AP holders are important to them as well. They will have to find a balance. Don't forget they sold reservations for Star Wars at Disneyland. I know Disney world is much different but in my opinion I don't see how they can control capacity in 4 parks by just shutting them off to people like a phase closing and not upset people. I will say the capacity level they choose to start with will make a difference. I think how long they will have to change and monitor capacity will sway their decision.

Sea world upgraded all annual passes. And us???? NADA nada.
How did that upgrade work with Seaworld?

I have a platinum annual pass (I live out of state - only option). What would mine get upgraded to if we got upgrades? the platinum plus? woo great now i can do water parks -_-

I can understand them upgrading the other levels of annual passes. but then what would they do for the people with platinum, platinum plus, and premier? Just spit ballin here - not looking for a hand out lol

It seems platinums get additional discounts and friend tickets. All others went up a tier.
