Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

You’re right- they do not want to lose out on any possible dollars. That’s why I think it will be suggested, not required. It would be too difficult to enforce (remember that there are individuals who can tolerate a mask for medical reasons and the CDC does not recommend them for you g children) and it may deter more money spenders than you could imagine. My bet is that those rushing to get a mask will not be (the majority of) those lining up to get into the parks upon reopening. Where I live face masks are not widely accepted. Personal choice is much more ingrained in the American culture than China. Could they require face masks for indoor shows? That seems much more likely to me. But, walking around the park, I believe it will not be enforced.
If they aren’t going to enforce it then why even suggest? That just causes disputes between guests who take this seriously and those who don’t.

I still don't know how on Earth they would do it in WDW. Cancel everyone's trips and start with a clean slate? Call everyone and explain? What the heck do you do?? How many bookings do they have right now? So complicated.
We already have the equivalent of advance reservation systems. We have resort reservations, ADRs, FP+, tour reservations. etc. For example, WDW has FastPass service that you can reserve in advance. In Shanghai, it still works as a "day of" thing. So, how else would they control capacity in Shanghai of Passholders, if it's not through making a resevation?

Right now, its becoming the norm due to the situation here in the states. 90 percent of the people I see have masks on.
That may be true of your area, but I'm not so sure that's true nation wide. If we go by where I live, very few wear masks and that's only in the stores where it's required like Costco. I wouldn't assume that just because that's what you see, that's how it is everywhere. It sure isn't here.

Same. We are in Oklahoma - we are some of the only ones wearing them.

I’m not referring to the technology.

I heard Chapek say it.
I wasn’t disagreeing with any of you. Just questioning one post. I’ve never been to China. I have feeling everything they do there is wildly different. Tonight I’ll be using my miles to book flights to Japan for next year.
I’m super excited about that.

Off topic, but there’s some some great travel deals out there for 2021.:):)

I'm in Florida. The only place some people wear masks where I am is in the grocery stores because its always so jammed. And maybe 60% do it there.

Otherwise, no one wears them when they are out and about.
Which makes sense since masks are suggested to be worn when social distancing of over 6ft is not an option. If you're under a stay at home order, the only place you can really go is the grocery store and a walk around the block. No need to wear a mask when walking around.

What @vinotinto means is that by having a resort reservation etc you already have reserved a spot in the parks. (i think?)
Yes, that's what I mean. We already have advance reservations at WDW, which includes advance reservations for Passholders, which is not the case broadly in Shanghai (no advance FPs). What did you mean @SaintsManiac?

It's an app designed for the Chinese government, that allows them to track citizens current health status, and risk of becoming infected or infecting others with COVID-19. It takes information from recent temperature checks, vitals and personal habits to determine if someone is a risk or not. The app generates a QR code that can be scanned, and will show the scanner if the citizen is green, yellow or red. Only those with a "green" scan will be allowed into the resort.

Fair. We are on stay at home orders here, so only place I’ve been is the grocery store.

Oklahoma here too. Remember Stillwater and their 3 hour requirement to wear masks before they caved after threats to employees ? We wear them too, but I rarely see anyone else unless I'm at Costco.
