Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

The situation is very fluid right now, we don't have an end to our contract and the nurses contracts just got extended to end of May. Right now we're monitoring everyone coming from flights from NY, NJ, LA and CT. Im expecting some more states to be added if they become hot spots.
Im not sure how the situation is on the border but I think they're being asked to self isolate as well
As far as what people will do, it's really impossible to know, I do know people are being contacted through out the 14 days by the Florida department of health to check on any symptoms
Thanks for the info. I would think this would limit a lot of people from taking a theme park vacation if it were still going on this summer. Disney is expensive enough without having to isolate in Orlando for 14 days before even starting your vacation.

I think Iger is seriously underestimating. There are people that would be there today if it was open- -virus or no.

Iger definitely realizes this and I'm sure has a team working to find ways to mitigate these folks that would come in anyway to protect his workers and other patrons.

Im mentally preparing there won't be an HHN this year :(

And MNSSHP and possibly F&W and maybe even MVMCP and associated activities like CP.

Yeah but guests will be able to go to DS or off property, where they will be exposed and potentially contract the virus. Testing can help obviously, i just don't see Disney testing everyday, guests being tested everyday is not only an inconvenience but expensive
Yes there is no way Disney will test people, legal consequences alone would stop them for doing it, plus they will instantly become a medical facilty as one of the largest testing locations in the country doing 100k+ test a day.

and the majority of people coming in from those areas and spending the money on a vacation will ignore the quarrantine.

Zero clue what Disney will implement when they open ( whether that be a month from now or 6 months from now.) I would be SHOCKED if they do nothing. I don't even think the company would think to open without some sort of extra measures, whether they actually help peoplefrom getting the virus or not, they have to put some measures in place. Even Iger said they have to change things to make guests ' feel' safe. Whatever they come up with may make some feel safe others not so much. Things will be different on some level, it's up to individual families to decide if what Disney implements is enough for them to go or if whatever is open when they do go is cost effective to justify a trip.

To be fair, you're local. You don't have to book flights and resort. You can go and if you don't like what you see you can go home. Not sure how many will gamble with thousands.

I'm a local and an AP holder. I still won't be going right when they open up, unless I have been vaccinated. It just isn't worth the risk.

We are Disneyland locals and AP holders and feel the same. If it was just me, I’d probably go. But I would feel TERRIBLE if we went and one of my little ones came down with COVID. So we are out until there’s a vaccine, an excellent widely available treatment, or the off chance it goes seasonally dormant at some point like the flu.

I think we are looking at this the wrong way. There won't be a vaccine any time soon, no amount of testing to guests can be done reliably (and it probably legally not even allowed (privacy). You can't mandate masks, that just won't work.

Disney can really only control things from their side -- limiting capacity, employees wearing masks, spreading out queues (somehow), etc. Thus the purpose of this thread to discuss "reduced or modified experiences" ..

And then just let people decide for themselves to take the risk to go. Disney needs to worry about making guests feel safe and protecting the employees. If an employee doesn't want to risk working there, get them a job temporarily that doesn't put them in close contact with guests.

If employees get it, give them "free" sick days and have them self-isolate.

Though .. the problem is probably less about the virus going forward but about the economic disaster that will befall us because of it and a huge percentage of the population will no longer be able to afford Disney. Our culture will also shift as our priorities change because of the lockdowns.

We'll have modified experiences simply due to severely reduced demand in the tourist industry.

You made me see things in a different perspective. There's a good chance that Disney or any park for that matter, will never look the same again.

So does it just refer to the measures that are being speculated on? All page 1 says is "Secure Circuit is for stage 1" and doesn't say what secure circuit actually is.
WDW Pro at the WDW Magic Forums has posted this list of rumored modifications that are being considered when WDW opens:
  • Magic Kingdom reopens with limited capacity, no theaters, no parades, no castle shows, no fireworks and sanitized ride vehicles after every guest exit.
  • Magic Kingdom resorts reopen with strict distancing guidelines in place.
  • Monorails would not operate.
  • Ferries and boat transportation would operate with distancing in place.
  • Health checks would be introduced at every security checkpoint. This would include temperature checks and Q&A (including locations you have traveled to in the past 14 days).
  • Guests will have to sign additional legal forms clearing Disney of liability for potential exposure to COVID-19.
  • EPCOT will remain closed if other parks are able to reopen prior to September.
  • Hollywood Studios reopens with limited capacity, no indoor theaters, no parades, no fireworks, and sanitized ride vehicles after every guest exit.
  • Animal Kingdom reopens with limited capacity, no indoor theaters, no parades, no Rivers of Light, and sanitized ride vehicles after every guest exit. Maharajah Jungle Trek would remain closed, and no close encounters with any animals at any place in the park will be permitted. Details about Animal Kingdom are still being developed.
  • Transportation guidelines are still being developed.
  • Dining guidelines are still being developed.
  • No character meet and greets.
  • No character dining.
  • Water parks will not reopen while Secure Circuit is in place.
  • DVC details are still being developed.
  • Sanitation stations will be available throughout the parks, as well as directions on the ground to keep guests moving in proper directions for limited pedestrian crossing.
  • It is likely, though not officially determined, that masks will be a requirement for adults.
  • Magic Bands mandatory for all guests, fingerprints temporarily on hold.
  • Non-MK resorts are unlikely to reopen until Phase 2 begins (Secure Circuit is for Phase 1).
  • Disney is currently evaluating every single ride and queue to determine how and if it can operate with strict distancing guidelines. This includes determining how to move people through the queue in a safe manner even if virtual queue is in place for that particular ride. For example, even just moving through the queue of Pirates exposes guests to whatever guests passed through the queue 20 seconds prior.
  • Chapek ultimately makes the call on when to reopen and how, once DeSantis gives the green light... so while the protocols for Secure Circuit have been developed, there may be changes from the top.
This is it and is more than just speculation. All very much being heavily considered by Disney and things they are planning for.

Disney or any theme park may have a difficult time in regards to queues but they can easily implement the other measures. No character dining, no parades, no fireworks, character meet and greets. The only way they can keep social distancing in the queues is maybe put Mikey faces on the ground. Setup like the way grocery stores do it.

I realize it comes from a solid source, and I have no doubt it'll materialize. But everything is speculation until confirmed.

The sad part of this is thats what makes this park stand out from the others.

It may not matter what people want. Nobody wants to be stuck in their house right now either. Disney wants to reopen and something like a mark requirement may have to happen to open.

Totally agree , but just on a personal level, I would rather be stuck inside, playing Nintendo switch with my kids, than walk around WDW seeing them ( and everyone else) wearing masks - I want to see smiling faces !
( And this is coming from someone that has been to WDW over 100 times since 1994 ( and we live in NYC)

The entire list of modifications that WDW Pro posted is what is referred to as the "Secure Circuit" protocol and it is apparently the preferred choice at the moment.

"Guests will have to sign additional legal forms clearing Disney of liability for potential exposure to COVID-19."

I am amused that I can't think of any way this wouldn't be an enormous virus issue...unless they are wiping down pads every guest...and keeping a trash can next to every tablet holder...

And then the form would be as useless as most of the forms are legally...since most guests will say they were pushed to sign them before they read them...so they almost aren't worth the paper they won't be written on...
