I bought some the the JIBBITZ pegs for me and my daughter to make her some shoe charms. Does anyone know where I can buy the rubber charms? I didn't really want buttons because they will have the holes in them. I know I can just buy the JIBBITZ on Ebay, but I thought it would be fun for us to make them together.

Thanks,

I'm moonlighting in the Jewelry dept at walmart to pay for my disney vacations, take a look at the key chains, there are some 0.77 cent chains with small rubber charms. good luck post pics I would love to see what you came up with. what a cool idea.

hi - i make shoe charms too!! its fun

some of the things i use are -
buttons from the scrapbook section - many of them do not have holes in them, they have a little thing on the back that you can cut off, but they work great,,,,also, sometimes on the hair doo dads at the dollar tree, you can peel the little decoration off and use it for your jibbits - i have done this alot with the disney princesses!!!! but you can really try anything!!! have fun!!!

That's so wierd. I'm actually holding the Big Bird barette in my hand wondering if it would work. I haven't received the studs yet so I wasn't sure if they were flat enough for something non-fleixble to stick to. How did you get the charm off of the barette?

Cool, I'll check the Dollar Tree for hair doodads. Keep the suggestions coming. I bought 48 studs on ebay!

hi - getting them off the barette's isnt quite as easy, but certainly can be done!! just ask my DH and his handy dandy pocket knife!!!:rotfl2: where did you get your studs from? when i did the nonflexible ones, i used stems from "shoe doodles" that my dollar tree had, so they didnt have a flat base, but more of just a post - then i super glued them on - the other ones that i ordered from maybe oriental trading???? are a bit different, and they are more of a flat surface that isnt exactly flat - but its sure worth a try!!!!! the posts on them are also a bit longer than normal - which works , but makes the "jibbit" stick up a little bit more. its so much fun to do though!!! have a great time with it!! I've even used some plastic toy frogs and lizards and they work great too!!!!!

I got my pegs from Ebay. I assume they came from Oriental Trading.

I found some light up princess pins at the Dollar Tree today and plan to try them out tonight.

Oh, I also found some miniature rubber erasers that I plan to try out.

HI -

Oh the erasers do work well, but since they are thicker, just keep an eye out as they are easier to get scraped off the peg.

The blinky pins are a GREAT idea - please let me know if that works!!!

Well, last night we tried to make some. I wasn't impressed. Once I took the backing off of the light up pin, it wouldn't blink anymore. And whoever said that the pegs were bigger than the Jibbitz was correct. So, it kind of dangles and that annoys my daughter. I think it would be okay for an adult or a teen, but it annoys a three year old. And she liked the real Jibbitz better. So, I guess we will be buying them from the store.

I did find a place to buy other designs. If you search "fimo" on Oriental Trading's website, you'll find some cute things.

So much for being creative. I will be keeping a few of them since I want to make big red bows to put on her shoes to match her Minnie Mouse dress that she will wear when she sees Minnie next month!

But, it looks like I'll probably Ebay the others.

Oh, Michael's craft store had the off brand Jibbitz for $1.97 for a pack of two.
