Roundup at the Fort - 2024 Fort Dismeet

I did see comments, Kris, in the Wine & Dine thread on the runDisney DIS forum that the humidity this morning slowed people down in the Half.

We have church this morning and dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe this evening so we will get to Arc's campsite tonight as we can afterward.

Ps - the CM is in our area cleaning the campsites currently.

Our loop is a ghost loop. About half empty now. Epcott was a bust. Traffic due to construction made our estimated half hour before opening 15 minutes after opening. We took it on stride and still got in the long fozen line. Waited about an hour and was close to the finish line and the ride broke down again. So , 0 for 2 on frozen rope drops. We hit remmmy and sorring, licked our wounds and headed out for the campsite. Later HS for some rides and fireworks.

As part of my son’s 2 day visit with me here, he wanted to go bowl and eat at Splitsville, so off we went a few hours ago. They were having a “pink pin” special (one of the bowling pins on each lane is the color pink). IF the pink pin comes up in the head pin position, you need to video on your phone… if it’s a strike, you show to check in desk and get coupon for free classic donut at Everglazed Donuts across from Splitsville… my son got it!

Pin properly placed, ball approaches….

Fun time! Otherwise had Nachos, Hawaiian Pizza and fries for lunch… think we’re stuffed enough for now::yes::

Our last official Fort meetup was in October of 2020 and this year's meet has been in planning for a little of 2 years. I know all of us are very much looking forward to this and hope it's a great trip for everyone. This "post 1" will be kept updated with any updates/changes to plans. Feel free to use this thread to post your trip report items as well for the meet. Even if you weren't a part of the planning thread and just happen to be at the Fort during this time, come on by!

Please let me know if your username is missing from the list. We will have nametags printed with usernames that you can write your actual name on at the Potluck.

Arrived this afternoon. Site 402. Start fresh tomorrow...puzzle? RD @ AK? Regardless, back with Crackpot Chicken for dinner at Arc & Josie @ 1730. See ya'll there if not before!

We made it. Site 2141. Got to visit with a few of the 2100er crew. We scooted out for a dinner reservation at Beaches n Cream.

I'll be around tomorrow. Only thing away from FW planned is a lunch reservation at Springs. Otherwise, I have to hang the new fuel filter on the truck and do whatever the kids want to do before dinner.

We made it!!! We arrived around 12:45 after a smooth drive in. We had a little waiting time and overflow is a complete disaster of people just leaving their rigs pretty much where ever they felt like.

@MrsPAHunter got her site assignment 402 first and once I found a more suitable place to park out of the way, I went up to help her get unloaded and into her site. Once we got her all sorted I got my sight assignment 2139. Jenn came with me to scope it out and then run the golf cart back to my site after I got my truck and trailer. With some help getting into the site I started to get settled and say hello to @bama_ed who was mulling about. After getting 90% planted, ran by @Bishoparc's site before dropping Jenn off at her camper and coming back to my own RV.

Still gettting settle and what little more decorations I plan to put up will go up tomorrow. Managed to chat with a few others before headding in for some dinner. Soon will gather some to head off to the DVC lounge for fireworks at their "wicked wind down"

Good to see a few old friends. Hate the timing didn't work out better to see more of you fine folks. I'm going to try and at least book the weekend for the May meet up. Either way will make an evening appearance. Have a great time at the Fort. I know we did,

You know it's a sign of growing old when you can't remember what you did yesterday .......

I did fix some eggs, pancakes, and smoked sausage for breakfast yesterday and DW pushed through some laundry. The Fort (at least in our loop) really cleared out on Sunday but we did have @jbrostek and @Part-Time Paradise roll in around us and set up so our corner of the neighborhood is good.

We went to church then stopped at the grocery on the way back to supplement what we have to get us through the rest of our stay. Didn't get to eat lunch till 2pm after which we went for a nice bike ride around the Fort, stopping at the Meadows Trading Post first.

I did my annual beer price check and a 6 pack of Bud is the same price as it was in January 2024 when we were here last, $17.75.

They have the spare tire covers in stock both Large and Small sizes for $80.

Next on our bike ride we went by @MrsPAHunter , @JETS70 , @BenitaN , @Bishoparc , and @Disneypeach campsites and EVERYONE was gone (having a good time I guess). Guess they knew we were coming.

2600 loop has had the legacy cabins pulled off and scrap debris piles remain. It's not a good look temporarily.

Dinner was at the Grand Floridan which was looking great.

The Gingerbread House was already put together in the lobby.

And we saw the pianist playing.

This morning @Sjm9911 , @jbrostek , and @4077 puzzled (it's a verb) with me and we got the movie film part mostly done.

Putt putt coming up before lunch and then making the deviled eggs this afternoon.

Beautiful day here at the Fort.

ED
