I have made a miniature golf ("putt-putt") reservation for Monday morning at 11am at the Fantasia Gardens course near the Swan/Dolphin. Based on interest expressed in the planning thread, I have me/DW, Bishoparc/DW, Jbrostek for a total of 5. The reservation is for 8 so if someone wants to come along, let me know in a response here.

The maximum group size is 4 people so we will have to split into a two groups.

The Grand Prize has already been secured.

As fyi, cost is $19+tax. To make reservations, call 407-WDW-PLAY.

Remember to turn in scorecards to me with name and campsite number at site 2137. I will put out a box or envelope or something.

ED

PS - play any Disney putt putt course you want to. All rounds don't have to be at Fantasia Gardens (there are 4 courses on property).

Just a story to share. These two cutouts were painted by my mom for my daughters 5th birthday party. When we first traveled to the fort, we figured since they had the marvel rights we would bring them both along. So, some pictures from 5 years ago, in 2019 when we brought them down. And as they now sit on my site. We keep bringing them down as they are a hit with the kidos and adults alike. This year , I would say 60 people took photos in the silhouettes. My mom feels good that something she made 8 years ago is still making people happy today.

I'll give an update on the Wine & Dine 10K that I walked EARLY :crazy2: this morning. No repeat photos from yesterday but I will show characters, clock/mile signs, and sights not shown yesterday.

The route started in the Epcot parking lot, out through the Epcot parking toll booths, back around 180 degrees, over a bridge, and down into the behind the scenes portion at the rear of Living Seas and The Land.

I think I was in the 22nd wave that was released (countdown, BANG, some fireworks, and we all press forward). The waves are released every 2-3 minutes to spread out the crowd (There were a total of approximately 12,000 people doing the 10k) with another 8 or so after I took off.

As a kid at WDW I was always fascinated about the transitions between on-stage and off-stage. runDisney races show you a LOT of the back stage areas.

We're only into mile 2 of 6 so let's keep going.

ED

We entered the United Kingdom by The Rose & Crown Pub but then turned right by the red pay phone booths and went back stage again to go down to the International Gateway and hang a right to go along the lake behind Yacht Club and Beach Club.

Funny thing was out on the race course on the roads, on stage, off stage, we've had New Orleans style jazz playing loudly in keeping with the Tianna theme. But when we got onto the walkway with Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swolphin, and Boardwalk, there was no music - only "Quiet Zone" signs because guests were still sleeping a short distance from where we were passing by. Lucky them.

You've done 4 miles already - only 2 more to go. And what do I see now?

ED

From France towards Italy and then under Spaceship Earth and out a side entrance.

The dash to the finish line.

I'm glad THAT'S over with.

ED

PS - the finish line clock shows the time from when the very 1st wave went off so that is NOT my individual time. I came in just under what I expected to so I was happy.

Our last official Fort meetup was in October of 2020 and this year's meet has been in planning for a little of 2 years. I know all of us are very much looking forward to this and hope it's a great trip for everyone. This "post 1" will be kept updated with any updates/changes to plans. Feel free to use this thread to post your trip report items as well for the meet. Even if you weren't a part of the planning thread and just happen to be at the Fort during this time, come on by!

Please let me know if your username is missing from the list. We will have nametags printed with usernames that you can write your actual name on at the Potluck.

I'm woefully behind...busy wrapping up work and now in travel mode with jbrostek. Landed at campsite safely about 4pm today (Kingsland, GA, just north of Florida border.)

Monday - bringing Cr(a)ck pot chicken - cheesy chicken with crackers. And have several loaves of banana bread/pumpkin bread in the freezer for morning puzzles.

Eager to pull in early tomorrow afternoon. See ya all then!

One last race picture to share then briefly about the rest of the day today.

I said in the past here that the only character I would stop for a photo op in a race was Mary Poppins and, sadly, Mary Poppins was not on the course this morning.

But there was a character that I HAD to stop for. He is a favorite of mine but he is a LEGEND to our Dear Daughter (who worked as a Cast Member in the College Program years ago). Thus I knew, for her sake, I had to burn a few minutes in line waiting to meet a country music star (hit song "Blood on the Saddle") and *Beloved* Performer in the Country Bear Jamboree.

I'm talking about Big Al.
The Bear.
The Myth.
The Legend.

and a rare picture of Bama Ed with this Bear of Fame.

DW asked me if he said anything to me and I'll share a secret. He did. And it's the door code to enter the Executive Lounge of Grizzly Hall and hang with the cast of Country Bears in a relaxed, casual setting, up close and personal. And no, I can't tell anyone what the code is.

After a show and a desperately needed nap, we had our DVC walk-thru appointment down by Pioneer Hall. We got on the bus to ride from our loop to the Settlement Bus Depot and who is sitting there on the same bus but our very own @Boomer1 with DH and DD. They had come to go on the tour and pitch with us and they did. We will get information emailed to us to consider the opportunity that is the DVC Cabins at Fort Wilderness.

After that we rode to Disney Springs for lunch and the Earl of Sandwich and walked through a few shops (bought nothing). Then back here to get off our feet, upload pics, track some college football game scores (Bama is off this weekend), and post some pics on the DIS.

I won't post as much now that the 2 races are over.

@Teamubr showed up across from me and next to @Sjm9911 today and @4077's son arrived to keep his old man headed in the right direction. @GA WDW Fan and DW came by to say hello. So it's starting to come together.

Remember to turn those clocks back tonight. I'm going to enjoy that extra hour of sleep.
