Ok, I know everyone is excited but we MUST try and keep similar topics in each thread.
There's a thread on the attraction and it's systems, technology, ride thru, times here: https://www.disboards.com/threads/star-wars-galaxys-edge-attractions-planning.3728060/
There's a thread for how the Virtual queue, boarding pass system works: https://www.disboards.com/threads/joining-a-boarding-group-question.3781381/#post-61316060
and of course we have the various threads for merchandise, food, and just back experience reviews.
This is for everyone's benefit. Lets keep this thread discussing opening day/week experiences for RotR ONLY
Also any discussion on circumventing Disney rules is strictly prohibited by the Dis guidelines.
I will now go back as far as I can and delete off topics posts from here
Disney Parks on YouTube - they live-streamed it last night - which you can watch after the fact (I watched hours later).. . .
I can't seem to find any footage/photos of the drones from the media event though. Anyone wanna help with that?
. . .
while the ride itself at face value is impressive, there are other rides much more compelling eg. Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Mystic Manor, PotC Sunken Treasure & upcoming Beauty and the Beast ride
I (shockingly) loved Pooh's Honey Hunt. When I rode it, I didnt know how awesome trackless was. I am hoping RotR is just as good.
I haven't been to Japan (yet) so haven't ridden that but have been to Hong Kong and Mystic Manor is the best Disney attraction I have ever been on so will be interesting to see how I feel after getting to ride RotR
Two improvements to this would be to not allow people to join a boarding group until they actually tapped into the park AND to only allow one ride per guest. Some people will have the ability to ride twice today at the expense of others not riding at all. With demand so high on this ride I think it actually would’ve warranted a one BG per guest limit.
I thought the vq worked really well. Was in at 6:40 and was able to do a few rides, go back to the hotel for 2 hours and return when I was called to board. There have been minor stoppages.
There are a few other issues with this system. You don’t actually know how long your wait is. It’s like being given a ticket at a deli counter but you don’t have a clue how long it will take to serve those in front. And why not allow fastpasses? My understanding was that they were concerned about the effect of FPs on the standby line but there isn’t a standby line so that doesn’t make sense.
This system might work if you are able to get to the park at the crack of dawn and don’t mind pottering around for a non-specified length of time but that won’t suit everyone.
Oh if I were you, I would’ve done the same thingYes it’s always a difficult one. I’ll be honest I requested another boarding group after riding the first time. CM’s were telling people too so it was one of those instances where well if other people are going to do it I will take one.
Everyone needs to be in the park.Apologies if this question was answered previously in the thread. There’s been so many responses that I can’t keep up!
Hoping to go tomorrow and join a virtual queue. Does my whole party need to be in the park in order to add them on MDE or can I let them rest, head to the park early and do it for them?
It’s okay, most have been off-topic.There’s been so many responses that I can’t keep up!
FP would just make this a bigger cluster. With the boarding groups they can better control when the ride goes down, and IMO with a new ultra popular attraction I think first come first serve at the park that morning is the fairest way to handle it, not 90 days for (certain) club level guests, 60+whatever for onsite, and nothing for offsite.
Not caught up (I was on the plane) but every CM I talked to said to ride it again I had to join another boarding group. They didn’t make it sound like that wasn’t allowed or anything. Is that what folks are saying, that you shouldn’t join another? It seems to me just like getting in line to ride something multiple times, if you are there why not do it? To be fair, those that managed to grab a second group were in the 140s+ (or at least the folks I know that did we’re) so it’s debatable if they’ll get on it again. It was a moot point for me. I asked if I could ride it again since my group was still “boarding” and was told no, so that was it for me. I’m back home in Atlanta now.Oh if I were you, I would’ve done the same thing
You were playing by the rules. I just think Disney could’ve (should’ve) made different rules.

[/QUOTE]But that’s no different to any other popular attraction. Should they scrap the FP system for 7DMT, SDD etc?
I realise I’m being quite critical of what is technically a fair system but to force people to arrive well before park opening or not ride an attraction at all seems a bit of a bad system
With the alleged high capacity of the ride I’m hoping it might not be quite so difficult to get a slot in the future.
I was just thrilled because instead of standing in line for 5 hours & risking not actually getting to ride it (I left for the airport around 10am), I at least got to ride all of the other things. That alone made the god-awful early wake up worth it! And my group got called around 9am so it was perfect.it's also more friendly to Disney's bottom line as instead of standing in a 6-7 hour line you are off doing other things - including shopping and eating
Two vehicle paths. When you enter the destroyer you can be taken left or right. This is when they group you up for your vehicle. How many individual "tracks" are there? Two or is it four? I have only seen videos that send you to the doors on the right as you come up to the last pre-show. Are there tracks to the left of the two STs also? I am talking about tracks as in sets of two vehicles.
Nobody would fault anybody for riding again if they were able to secure a 2nd BG. It’s allowed! Not caught up (I was on the plane) but every CM I talked to said to ride it again I had to join another boarding group. They didn’t make it sound like that wasn’t allowed or anything.
