It’s hard to believe their parents didn’t know exactly who she was.
We don't need to start stake burning everyone associated with the show. That's a ridiculous overreaction.

I agree. I dare to hope, but am not optimistic, that this may be the beginnings of people being fed up with accepting someone's poor character just because they like the job they are doing. I remember when a person's character used to be the most important thing.Good riddance. However, I find sad is that we have higher standards for entertainers than we do for others in more important and influential positions
Actually, Wanda Sykes, one of the Roseanne producers, called President Trump an Orangutan.Roseanne likened a woman's appearance to that of an APE. Nothing anyone else on that network has ever said can ever come close to likening someone's appearance to that of an APE. So no, to your bolded words, you can't make racist comments. Ever. For any reason. It's disgusting.
There’s no show without her. No matter how awful she can be.
I said "on that network". That means talking heads, actors, etc... not contributing producers that no one even knew were associated with the show until today. Either way, name calling is bad. When the name calling is is racist in nature it is abhorrent.Actually, Wanda Sykes, one of the Roseanne producers, called President Trump an Orangutan.
I never watched the show, but I’m not surprised by the tweet. It seemed just a matter of time before she exposed herself to all as just another hater. There’s just so much hate out there...

That’s exactly what I was thinking. It’s been done before, granted they didn’t have the PR issues this does. But, if they can do it without having to pay Barr any more money it might actually make some people like it more. One word: Valerie
The show lasted four more seasons - twice as long - after Harper.

i agree. I enjoyed Roseanne the charcher and not Roseanne the person. Sadly, the person isn’t quite as sympathetic as the character. She’s disgusting. I too will miss the show and the character.I don't condone what she said but I will miss the show. I very much enjoyed it. I can separate my personal feelings, as I believe I stated earlier on in the thread when some posters just wanted to talk about how they didn't like her, from a character on a show. I had no real issues with Roasanne the character and had looked forward to another season.
The beauty of Valerie...that actress totally just faded into obscurity after they wrote her out of the show. Never heard a peep from her again (and it was a huge hit show at the time). Granted it was the 80s. That might be harder to swing now.I would still watch Roseanne (the show) without her.
Doesn’t strike me as the same. This show was based on Roseanne’s stand up — her POV. I don’t think the Valerie Harper analogy holds. And I used to watch that show. One word: Valerie

Wanda Sykes is a pretty well known comedian. Well publicized that she was attached to this show.I said "on that network". So, door #3...they write a different show around that same cast. That was also done by another famous 80s actor who shall not but named but is currently facing prison time soon. Same lead actor and wife...slightly different setting. Granted, there was a huge time gap between the two series.Doesn’t strike me as the same. This show was based on Roseanne’s stand up — her POV. JMHO, but I doubt that would get the ratings. Several of the actors on Roseanne haven’t worked for many years for a reason. IMO it’s not a strong cast except for Goodman and Metcalf — and even they still seem really rusty to me. Again — JMO, but I’d be surprised if that would take off. I also think that a lot of the appeal was that this revival was one that spoke in part to an audience that is largely ignored on TV — that was because of Roseanne. I don’t see ABC going there with another show. Despite the ratings. Could be wrong, obviously! So, door #3...they write a different show around that same cast. The problem is that the show is owned by Roseanne so she still profits from the show even without her.So, door #3...they write a different show around that same cast.
