Roseanne back

I never liked the original, so I was baffled by the fact that they brought it back. I love The Middle which kind of follows the same demographic, but the writing is so much better and less angry. I won't be watching the new Roseanne if for no reason other than her screeching voice. I get an instant headache when I hear her talk.

I saw a special on the reboot of Roseanne and two of the writers from the original show are the creators of the Middle. The afghan on the sofa in the Heck’s home is an homage to Roseanne.

I haven't watched it yet as we are away for spring break. I have it PVRed.
Do they still own the restaurant? They were doing well financially at the end of the series with the business and Dan having a city job.

I don't want to spoil anything for you. But they are forgetting almost all of what happened in final season.

I knew it had a similar feel. It all comes down to the main character that I dislike. I'll take Frankie over Roseanne any day. Patricia Heaton is a much better actress with a wider range. Roseanne is a one-trick pony.

I never knew that Sara Gilbert was such a great actress! Both episodes had scenes with her where she was expressing emotion, and wow, she was amazing!!! On the other hand, poor DJ, he seems so uncomfortable in front of the camera, which I suspect is why he's barely had any lines so far.

That factoid was so interesting that I had to look the creators up. Their IMDB credits show they only wrote two episodes of Roseanne but hundreds of episodes of shows like Murphy Brown, Kate and Ally, Doogie Howser, How I met your Mother, etc. Weird that they would single out working on Roseanne when their writing credits were so deeply rooted in other shows.

I absolutely loved the scene where Darlene's daughter was giving her a hard time about babysitting her brother after school, whining about how she had plans. Darlene was like, "I really would appreciate it if you would come home after school, I have a job interview and need you to watch your brother......" Roseanne said, "tag me in" and Darlene tapped her. Then Roseanne said in her Roseanne way, "You're coming home after school and you're watching your brother. End of story." I LOL'd at that.

They were being interviewed about working on Roseanne, so they talked about Roseanne.???

On the special I watched he said he didn’t pursue acting after Rosanne.

They opened the Lunch Box in the 5th season. There were 9 seasons.

So no mention that they still own it?

I've always thought Sara Gilbert was a great actress. Maybe not the first couple seasons when she was young but after that she really blossomed.

Less than a week after the reboot of "Roseanne" debuted to monster ratings, ABC has renewed the series for season two.

Series creator and star Roseanne Barr reacted to the news with excitement, asking fans what they'd like to see and cheering about the possibility of making a Halloween episode.

Two decades after the first iteration of the show wrapped, the premiere of "Roseanne" drew in an estimated 18.2 million viewers Monday night. Deadline reported that 18.6 million tuned in to the second episode of the show, which premiered immediately after the first.

The ratings made "Roseanne" the biggest series debut this season and prompted President Donald Trump to call Barr to congratulate her.

Becky mentioned something about working at a restaurant. I wondered if she was talking about the Lunchbox.

Several have mentioned Will & Grace since it's another recent reboot. I was a fan of BOTH Roseanne and W&G the first time around. We even went to a taping of W&G and met the cast at the start of their 2nd season!!

I tried to get into the W&G reboot and just couldn't. It felt so forced and so one-sided that I bailed -- honestly just wasn't funny to me. While they seem a bit "rusty" in the first couple of episodes of the Roseanne reboot, I LOVED that to the extent that it got political, there were ACTUALLY FUNNY jokes on BOTH SIDES!! That's so much more where I am now.

I haven't been able to read all 13 pages, but watched a little of the first episode to see how everyone looked from before and see what's changed. It was okay, there were some funny parts but overall it's not something I'm going to continue watching, mainly after seeing a few photos she did a while back that I found appalling. It's too hard to separate the character from the person. I'm also kinda surprised it's on ABC, since Disney tends to stay away from walking controversies. It'll be interesting to see if they do continue the show or not.

I also agree about Will and Grace. I was so excited when it came back on, but haven't watched it passed the first few episodes. It's hard to do reboots of shows, it just isn't the same.

Yes I like Sara too. She even showed up on 24 with Jack Bauer for a few episodes. I was hoping they would have kept her as a regular character.

this is what I HATE about the Roseanne reboot.... I'm at work and I had been excited that it was coming back. I finally watched it and it was FUNNY. So I am talking to a co-worker and I am trying to see if she is just as excited as I am about it coming back. She look at me and is happy that I enjoyed the episode, but this is what she said "I was too young to watch Roseanne. My mom wouldn't let me watch it." Me: How old are you? Her: 35.

Yup...she was 5 years old when Roseanne debuted. So yeah..thanks Roseanne, for making me feel OLD.
