That was my initial thoughts towards Will & Grace. It's gotten a lot better IMO in the politics viewpoint but I will say I actually enjoyed the cake episode on Will & Grace even though it was political because it was giving a good message out there (well I took it as a good message that is).I never watched the original but I was intrigued by the premise of the reboot so I gave it a try and I enjoyed it. The political jabs were more balanced and less heavy handed than what's going on at Will & Grace. I loved Roseanne's crack about how their fat pictures which Becky removed were the only ones where they "looked happy".
Apparently, the ratings were "massive" according to the Hollywood Reporter, so obviously there's an audience out there.
I'm not the biggest fan of weighing down shows with politics because honestly part of the reason I watch these type of shows is to escape all that stuff. But in Roaseanne there was a different approach to political topics than in Will & Grace. On the same token I hope that Roseanne doesn't revolve too much around the politics.
I was a casual watcher of the original runs of Will & Grace and a casual watcher of the original runs of Roseanne though.
Overall I enjoyed the two epsiodes of Roseanne, we def. laughed enough, and will give the series a shot
