We went today! It was great.
I ordered the scotch egg. Delish!
DH did order the fish and chips--but only after we asked questions about it. This is what our server said...
It was a 6oz piece of fried cod which is different than what is served otuside at the QS. *i realize that some items you can ask different CM's, but we did ask her why that was and she said...* The other fish (some weird name I cannot recall) was more sustainable and since they sell a bunch more that is what was done. (I also wonder if maybe it was cheaper or something for Disney to buy, but did not ask.). She did say that the cod is more authentic as that is what is used in England.
So he went ahead and ordered. For lunch, it was adequate. He did eat the whole thing, but between that and splitting the scotch egg and our plans to go get ice cream in France, it was fine. $20ish does seem to be a bit much. But maybe cod is not as cheap as I think it would be. Or maybe they just charge more because I is "fish". In any case:
(Looks smaller than it is here, as it was not a flat piece.)
This is the "vertical" shot of the same fish a ice and you can see it is kind of tall. A testament to how photos can show the same meal differently. Reality is somewhere between these too images. Again, adequate for lunch. 8oz might be a better portion size for dinner if you are a hearty dinner. I think $17 or $18 would be more appropriate. But not bad as a meal regardless and not as lacking as prior reports I had read said.
I had the bangers and mash. Only two pieces of sausage. But as we have had this at home before and kind of know the calorie counts and such--perfectly adequate. Especially to one was going to have an appetizer or dessert or both. Sorry for no pic.
We also ordered the loaded Yorkshire pudding. I have had a lot of Yorkshire pudding growing up. I enjoy it. This was a not odd. It had mashed potatoes and cheese. I don't remember of it had anything else. I love the crust of a Yorkshire pudding with the soft but slightly firm top as my mom would make. I missed that with the loaded. So it was okay for me. I would prefer unloaded Yorkshire pudding with the mash and cheese on the side. No idea if that is possible.
