Rope Drop with only 1 FP+ can you go straight to 4th FP+

I promised to report back on this. So, here is my quick update. I will start a more detailed post on all of my additional FP+s once I have a chance to type up my notes.

This strategy worked perfectly for us. I booked three FP+s for EP at my 60-day window, and a few weeks later, I cancelled my two Tier 2s, leaving me with Soarin from 10:00 to 11:00. My DDs decided to sleep in that morning, so we redeemed our Soarin' FP at 10:55. By the time we got to the kiosk, it was about 11:20. The kiosk offered us every available ride, both Tier 1 and Tier 2. We could have selected TT at 1:55, but we had a 2:00 ADR, so we grabbed TT for 5:00 pm and made a leisurely trip back through WS after our ADR.

So correct me if I am wrong, and believe me, I could be wrong, but there is no difference at all between doing this and scheduling the following way...

Capt EO 9-10
Soarin 10-11
SE 11-12

You get to Soarin at 10:55, EO FP+ is over and you ride Soarin. Then you can go and ride SE at 11:15 and right after that, schedule your 4th FP for whatever you wanted. You would have been able to use the 2nd FP for SE and still scheduled TT and whatever else.

Or you could have used the first FP if you decided to get to the park around 9:30...and seen EO, or Mission Space, or another tier 2...then done Soarin at 10:55 and then SE right after, then schedule your FP.

I'm trying to see the benefit of actually cancelling the FP+ in advance...either way, you don't get to actually schedule the 4th FP until after 11, so why not use the 3rd FP? Doesn't seem to me that the little bit of time is actually that important in scheduling a 4th FP?

If you are going to enter ther park at around 11:00, there is no real difference between cancelling the first two FPs versus entering the park with two that were not cancelled but have already lapsed. (Except if you cancel the "unwanted" FPs, you toss them back into the pool for others to use instead of "hogging" them for yourself, knowing that you won't use them. So choke on that, morality police! Cancelling is actually the kinder, more moral thing to do! :rolleyes1)

The real difference comes when you Rope Drop. Make a Soarin' FP at 9:00 and two others at 10:00 and 11:00, then cancel the second and third FPs, and you will be able to book your "4th" at 9:10 or thereabouts after you pass the second scanner, complete the ride, and can get to a kiosk. So while people rejoiced that FP+ was going to be a boon to those who do not like to RD, the truth is, RD'ing super-users are still going to come out ahead. Just not quite so far ahead.

Book Soarin from 9-10, cancel on MDE your 10 and 11 FPs, and at 10:10 make a FP for TT.

It's not without risk - on busy days there may not be other choices or suitable times available.

One point of correction. You wouldn't have to wait until 10:10 to book your FP for TT. You become eligible to book after you "use" your Soarin' FP, which means after you pass the second FP tapstile. So if your FP return time is 9:00-10:00 and you use it at 9:00, once you get past the second Green Mickey (9:05-9:10?), you would be eligible for your next FP. Of course, you would have to finish the ride to get to a kiosk. But by 9:20 or so, you should be able to book your FP for TT. Yes, there is risk. But at 9:20, not much. If all the FPs are going to be gone by FP, then you are in for a world of hurt anyway because the park is going to be packed.

I see what you are saying Jimmy...but is that really happening at this time? Are Rd'ers using a FP at 9, then getting another Tier 1 at 9:15 ish? Or is what this poster said happening where the earliest it seems possible is 11:15 ish? I haven't seen anybody actually ride Soarin on a FP+ at 9:15 and then book TT for a FP+ right afterwards. But I probably missed the post I am sure.

Remember that one's ability to book another FP at 9:15 does not equate to getting that FP for the 9:15 time slot. Using the approach outlined in this thread, one could go to a kiosk at 9:15 and the only Tier 1 FPs available might be for 5:30 p.m. If the guest books that FP, it all but shuts them out of getting any more FPs for the day. That is where the risk is. People have to choose between getting two Tier 1 FPs that are spread out at the beginning of the day and perhaps the end of the day, versus using 3 FPs and then trying for a 4th (which may not be a Tier 1). Individual priorities are going to be a huge factor in deciding which path to take.

As for the reports of people doing this, go back and re-read Post #69 of this thread. While the poster did not do this between 9:00-9:30, the fact that they were able to do this between 11:00-12:00 suggests that they would have been able to do it had they tried earlier. It stands to reason that anything that was available at 11:50 would have also been available at 9:30.

Can you book your 4th FP on your own phone, computer? OR do you have to get in line at a kiosk?

When it first came out I thought everyone had to visit a kiosk for the 4th. Has that changed? If so, I might pack my chromebook so I can more easily access the web. I hate using my iPhone.

Right now, 4th FP is kiosk only.

It is for everyone

Well poop. Was this available May 4th? I sure thought it was no option but one tier or the other, altho whether it would have been feasible with our Fantasmic ADR, I don't know. But we ended up in 80 min standby at 7 anyway. Pooop... They sure didn't make that knowledge available. I thought it was only if you were a guest...

I'm confused by this post. Just book three, then if you don't use one, two or all of them then cancel before going to the other park by using the app, then book more FP+s when you get there why the song and dance? The FP+ system is incredibly easy once you have linked your reservations to your MDE account, I don't know people are out to make it more complicated or difficult than it is. It's like the people treat going to WDW as some kind of military exercise, its not! It's a vacation! Maps out, forever scanning the Froemmers (there are other guide books available lol) ticking everything off the list, yikes! I like to play it by ear and found FP+ an asset, not a hinderance

You have to use at least one of them. The others can expire...

I was curious about what Disney actually says on their website…their exact wording is as follows:

In advance, you can reserve up to 3 FastPass+ experiences per day at one theme park. After you use all of the initial FastPass+ experiences on the day of your visit (or your arrival windows have passed), you can select one additional FastPass+ experience to use that same day (based on availability). The additional FastPass+ experience is a rolling FastPass+ experience—each time you use an additional FastPass+ experience, you can select a new one.

The bolded part is mine…I interpret that to mean that you don't HAVE to book 3 FP+'s in advance…so, I do believe that Disney is onboard with booking one FP+ and then rolling the rest.

(Edited to add source of info: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/my-disney-experience/fastpass-plus/)

I think the "up to 3 FastPass+ " is simply for Disney to cover themselves. They are not promising 3 no matter what, just up to the limit of 3 ahead of time, but not more, and allowing for a situation(such as on an extremely crowded time, say like NYE or something), where they can drop that to 1 or 2 FastPass+ for prebooking, and still be within their 'promised' amount. They had that there when I booked my FP+ in Dec (I know some things have changed but that was in the wording then), and I had to book 3, iregardless if I wanted less, it was not that I was allowed to book up to 3, but could book 1 or 2 if I wanted.

After I use the 4th FP can I book a 5th...and 6th and so on at the kioks?

I had a phone CM tell me today we are capped at 4 per day for now (more CM misinformation?)

You can definitely get more than 4. It just depends on the availability of what you want.

More than 4. You can use the prev/next button several times and sometimes get better choices...
