Room Noise

Last two condo stays (non DVC) have involved pretty loud room noise. One condo we encountered the people upstairs with young kids bouncing balls all the time. The other condo it was the crying baby through paper thin walls. That got me thinking about DVC, where we own but have yet to make our first stay. How bad does the noise bleed in from the rooms above or the rooms next door? Are some resorts better than others?

We stayed at the VWL last September, and it was very quiet! I'm a very light sleeper, and have a difficult time getting back to sleep, so I really appreciated getting a full night's sleep.

You will get noise from above if the people there are 'lead footed' or have bouncing kids. Most of the time you will barelly notice. You should ask for top floor if you are a very light sleeper.

In studios the noise comes in under the connecting door to the 1BR side, unless you get a dedicated studio. This noise can be helped by placing a towel under the door. You can also get noise from above.

DVC units appear to be much better than most places at sound control.

I have never been aware of a problem with excessive noise. You may hear a faint something once in a while, but in general, you barely know you have neighbors.

We have a 2 year old, and when staying at BWV recently, the neighbors were suprised when they met our child in the hallway. "How long have you been next door?" was the question. So, I guess side-to-side is generally pretty noise-insulated. :)

At WL, we could hear the screaming baby as we approached our studio but, once we shut the door, blissful quiet.

We just returned from 8 nights at SSR in a studio (3rd floor) and did not hear any noise from the neighbors other than an occasional toilet flush from up above us! I hope they didn't hear us either as we were all sick with colds and were up coughing ALL night!!! We had a DD view in the Congress Park section and when we closed the slider to our balcony we could only slightly hear the music and noise from Pleasure Island!

I haven't had any noise problems at VWL, BCV, or SSR. We've stayed in a studio and 2 bedroom

One time when we stayed at BWV, we could play "Wheel of Fortune" with the people next door because their TV was that loud! AT VWL, we over looked the walkway to the Lodge and heard every luggage cart that rolled by.

This past trip we stayed on the 5th floor at BCV and it was the quietest stay we have ever had at WDW.

We were at SSR and although it is a big resort we hardly saw anyone around. Never once did see a person on our floor although I know they were there by the occasional toilet flush.

Very nice and quiet.

We found our experience at VWL to be very loud-I think it's just luck, or lack of it. Unfortunately, we were there during the World Cup of Soccer in 2002, and if you remember, all the matches were played at horrendous times in the middle of the night. Our next door neighbors were BIG soccer fans and woke us up every night with their cheering. At BWV, the screaming, giggling children next door woke me up around midnite (why were they awake so late, I wonder? But they were enjoying themselves!) BCV has always been quiet as can be for me, but I'll bet you'll find people with horror stories about noisy neighbors there too. Just request the top floor (especially at OKW, I've found) and hope for the best.

Can't say as I've ever had enough neighbor noise for it to cause a problem. Yes there is the occasional running feet, laughing, crying baby, etc etc, but our visits have always been pretty quiet.

On a trip to VWL once, we were on the third floor at the end of the hall to the right as you exit the elevator. No foot traffic in front of the door and the building is only three floors at that point, so no one above us either. It was really quiet!

We very seldom even know if there is anyone next door, with the exception as others have mentioned of the flushing of the turbo toilets!
