Are the room keys like those on cruise ships? Can you punch a hole in them and hang them on a lanyard? Can you use them to charge purchases to your room?

They are scanning keys on just about every ride now, so that's important advice.

Is there any place you can not use the room key to make charges (City Walk restaurants, carts, etc)? I hate to carry any cash around. Also can you go down to guest services and pay your balance before you leave, so you won't have a big credit card bill waiting on you when you get home.

Some of the CARTS don't allow charging, I have only found this on couple out in CityWalk. You can also not charge if you don't have your room yet, so if you check in at 8am you won't be able to charge until they call you and tell you your room number.

You can ask the front desk staff to punch the hole in the card. That's what we did.

Can the room key be scanned through a plastic badge holder? I'd hate for us all to keep fussing with taking it out because we'd probably end up losing one.

Have the front desk punch the hole. We were using the plastic clip on lanyards and somehow lost the entire thing. Had to go back to the hotel to get a replacement and check on the charging priveledges/etc. and they said it happens a lot. They punched holes in all our cards and we had no more issues.

I used one for my Express Pass last HHN, and I had to take it out every time. Unfortunately, that is what they sell here on lanyards, so get your lanyards elsewhere.
