Think back to your MOST RECENT DVC visit. Did the room you were ORIGINALLY assigned at the front desk adequately meet your requests in terms of the following:

Smoking Preference
Handicapped Preference
Location
View

Don't factor in the type of assignment system used (room ready vs. pre-assignment.) If you had to request a change or fight for a different room, feel free to answer "no."

Please do not factor-in maintenance or housekeeping issues. The intent of the poll is simply to determine whether members are satisfied with the physical characteristics of the room assigned in relation to what was requested.

EDIT: To clarify, I would define an "important" request as smoking preference, handicapped preference or anything else medically necessary. While things like view or location may be important to some, I think we do need to bear in mind that they cannot be guaranteed.

Finally, when considering the resort's performance, bear in mind that they can only meet your requests if noted on the reservation. Please limit responses to success / failure with regard to the items specifically requested at the time of booking.

On my most recent trip (to BCV), the room assigned at check-in (7:45 pm) was excellent-I think it most closely met my requests of any room in the past several years-N/S, upper floor, courtyard view. 100% of requests met- Perfect!
Wish I could say that about the time before-BWV. At check-in (around noon), we had to wait for our room, which front desk said was not HA (I asked), but when we got there, it was! Also, it was on the main floor although I'd requested upper floor. But it was Boardwalk view and NS-50% of requests met.

On my most recent DVC visit (my 1st visit) my only request was smoking, which I received. I didn't know enough about the resort to have any idea what to request. Views have never been a real biggie to me, I keep things quite simple.

Requested n/s and Congress Park got both.Pool view not requested but we got one. :goodvibes :goodvibes We just got back friday.

Our only request is N/S and have been very satisfied with getting our N/S requests met. In about 20 trips, we've received 2 HA rooms in the past, years ago and they moved us from both, no charge and only 1 smoking room and they moved us the next day, no charge )

So since we don't request specific views, we've always been quite satisfied.

:goodvibes We only requested non-smoking and got it for both rooms we had reserved without a problem

Our last check-in was in December at BWV, and the only request we made was NS and that's what we got, for all 5 rooms.

Now, when I booked the CM asked if we would like the rooms 5 to be close, and I said "sure." They were, the furthest was the PV, but it was on the same floor, and not far from the others.

OKW-requested a NS grand villa near Southpoint area. Got exactly what I requested, with a lovely view to boot!

For OKW I requested non smoking, first floor and Peninsular Road which were in that order of importance to us. Arrived about 11 am and was given a few choices of buildings, the only Peninsular Road building available being 28. This wasn't actually ready - it was almost dead on 4 pm by the time we could get in - but I choose it anyway, despite knowing that our view wouldn't be great!!

But they certainly managed to help us with all our requests, which was a bonus. And as it turned out, we loved the privacy and shade all the vegetation gave us when we sat out on our patio!!!

We asked for non smoking and view of Downtown Disney - and got both requests for our December trip to SSR.

We requested a non-smoking Boardwalk View studio at BWV and we got just that. Even better, it was a dedicated studio, so we had extra seating in the day bed where the connecting door would be. The only minus was that the balcony was closed and not open so we couldn't sit and enjoy the view. We checked in around 11:00 AM on the 12/28/04. :cool1:

Our last request was on for NS, and we got that plus a great location. In fact, my last 4 ressies have had only NS as a request, and we have always gotten it. Two trips before those last four, I needed 1st floor or elevator building because I needed an ECV. Those requests were met as well.

I think there is one problem with this poll. How many requests did you make? I made one, it was met.

My last visit was at BWV 2bdrm and reserved BW View. I had only one request on my reservation for a NS due to Medical Reasons.

Received NS and a top floor BW View. Very nice room.

We made two requests when booking for last Oct. at BCV (smoking preference and view); both were met. We felt very lucky and have vowed not to be disappointed if our view request is not met next trip as it may be someone else's turn to have all of their requests met. :)

Good point. I guess that my thinking is that we all have our own interpretation of "satisfied", so using the requests placed on the reservation seems as good a place as any to start. If my only documented request is "non-smoking", then I have no room to complain if I get farthest from elevator, first floor, or any other criteria that individuals may consider less-than-desirable. If anything is to be measured here, it's whether the resorts are successful in granting guests the requests listed on the reservation.

BTW, thanks to all who took the time to reply. To those of you who responded in one of the "dissatisfied" categories, I'd love to hear what sort of requests were initially declined and whether the resort was able to work with you to adequately resolve the situation.

Thanks to all!

Yes, but I only have 1 request...No Smoking due to medical reasons. I try to keep it simple.

Our last stay was at OKW and we requested... smoking, near HH and near our freind. We got all three. Arrived around 3pm, rooms were ready.

The stay before that... we booked a Dedacated 2 queen at BCV and requested smoking and epcot view. And although I wouldnt call it an Wpcot view we could see parts of Paris's and America's pavillions from our balcony... we got smoking... Arrived around 3pm, rooms were ready.

Our most recent visit was in October of 2004. We drove from Connecticut and stopped for one night at Hilton Head on the way down and on the way back and stayed at OKW during our vacation. All of my requests were for non-smoking, non-handicapped rooms and for the OKW reservation, I also requested an upper floor but no requests more specific than that. The stop at Hilton Head on the way down, we were given a smoking room (we also had our 7 month old daughter with us) but by the time we noticed we had lugged all the baby's stuff in and decided since it was just one night we wouldn't complain. When we arrived at OKW, we were given a handicapped room on the ground floor, and again we noticed the handicapped part after we were all unloaded with tons of baby stuff. On the final stop at Hilton Head on the way home, we got another handicapped room. At that point we were so discusted we just wanted to get home and not have to deal with it anymore. No one at the front desks ever mentioned these issues to us. We dealt with it last year but we are going again in September and I am NOT accepting another Handicapped room or amoking room. I dealt with it last trip and now it is going to be someone else's turn!
