Disney Adventure

This is wildly disappointing and likely will cause me not to bite the bullet and book for a while. Thats a whole lot of money for flights for a sailing that goes no where. If I'm spending $1500+ in flights per person to go to another country I want to actually see stuff.
I mean, Singapore is tiny. You could easily see stuff in Singapore before and after the cruise. Kuala Lumpur is a really easy flight. You could stop somewhere on the way home and break up the journey and see another country too.

I’m looking forward to the cruise to nowhere. It will be a nice relaxing end to a trip!

I really don't like mega ships, buuuut... I think we're planning to book for late 2026. Haha

I wasnt planning on it, but the other night was watching a video about it and my wife said, 'let's do it!' I googled flights and yep, long, not cheap, but hey we could do Hong Kong Disneyland at the same time, a bucket list item for us. Not to mention experience Singapore and Hong Kong, We've been to Tokyo Disney and were blown away. Mmmm, maybe it's time to revisit it too! It was a novel experience to be such a minority in Tokyo, expect it will be the same in Singapore, which is odd because all their promotional material for the adventure shows people from all over the world and very few asians. Exciting times.

But the point of a cruise is you dont take flights to a destination like kuala lumpur. The boat is supposed to take you there. What is even the point of it being on a boat if it doesnt go anywhere. They may as well have just built a theme park on land.

The ship was a heck of a lot cheaper than building a theme park on land would ever be.

Different strokes for different folks. I like sitting on the balcony, and watching the sea go by. I really enjoy my ship time, so a three day cruise to no where sounds like fun to me, and yes we are thinking of going there. So what's your view on cruises that only go to Castaway Cay? Is that really much better?

As much as I love ports, I can see how this Cruise to Nowhere could be great. Especially as the long-haul flights will limit it to a one - and - done experience for many from the Western hemisphere. This cruise is definitely not a quickie vacation destination.

If just considered a part - not the focus - of the vacation, just discovering what she offers should easily fill a 3-night cruise before and/or visiting other places. Singapore looks to be a lovely city. It’s been featured on lots of food shows. For the adventurous eater, their street markets are a destination in themself. Then there’s Raffles and the British Colonial influence. And that park in the sky. That’s just Singapore.

When I was in a 2-week tour of China, we did more domestic flying than I would do here (USA) in several years. For these special trips, “usual” sometimes goes out the window.

Not trying to sell this - but encouraging those who want to experience it to think outside the box instead of looking at it like a regular DCL vacation just (travel) hours from home.

Yes castaway cay really makes it that much better.

Pools are mostly awful on cruise ships but with the one beach day we get all our swimming in.

The countries surrounding singapore have some of the best beach spots in the world. Ironically singapores beaches are utterly awful.

All the other cruises stop in other countries. Going to be hard to attract 6000 passengers each trip without stops in south east asia. The place is made for port days.

I technically work in a singapore team (even though i dont live there) and everyone i know who does live there says the best thing about singapore is visiting all the neighbouring countries.

I wonder if singapore mandated that disney cant stop at other ports. Singapore burned the rest of south east asia by banning taylor swift from playing in those countries. Me thinks something similar may have happened here.

Not that we will ever know- but I highly doubt Singapore mandated anything. Disney wants the ship to be the destination and wants to generate even more revenue by having everyone on board the ship the whole time.

The only reason they don’t offer a cruise to nowhere in the US is because it’s banned by the PVSA.

I totally agree with this. More and more people stay on the ship in Nassau each time I end up cruising there. With the Adventure being so large, I think everyone would end up staying on the ship to really experience it.

Haha I've been on a number of 16 hour flights. Cool is not the word I use. Exhausting/back breaking/claustrophobic :-).

Singapore airlines is pretty good though. And Singapore is a nice enough place to visit.
Haven't been on Singapore air, but the prices are really reasonable. If we could get business class, then it would be awesome. Did a 17 hour 1 minute flight from Johannesburg to Atlanta on Delta in coach. It was an experience. Watched a lot of Harry Potter on the flight :)

No ports of call. The cruises will be 3/4 and occasional 5 day cruises to no where.

From Disney Cruise Line Blog:
The Disney Adventure will spend her inaugural season sailing 3-night and 4-night cruises along with a limited number of 5-night voyages all from Singapore with magical days at sea.
I thought they would have ports as RCCL has 3/4 night cruises out of Singapore that stop in Malaysia and Thailand. Bummed they are not doing that. We have been planning a Japan trip in 2027 for some time and thought same as OP that would be a great add on but not a huge fan of cruises to nowhere. Of course, it does say her "inaugural season" with magical days at sea so I will hope maybe they change that by 2027!🤞

Singapore Air is great. I just did that world's longest flight with them this past summer, from SIN-JFK. The really nice thing about this plane is that there is actually no economy section, only premium economy or business. Helps to make that long flight much more comfortable!

We plan on booking the Adventure and taking a few weeks to travel around. Might be a one and done for the ship itself as there are no port stops. We will definitely break up the flight coming from the east coast of the US. Looking forward to either way!

It’s great they don’t have economy on the Singapore route. I flew in economy from JFK - Heathrow. It was a sardine can. Lots of little amenities, but that doesn’t make up for being jammed in.

Disney cut a deal with Singapore tourist commission to a) no other ports, and b) for five years so you will have to wait a bit. It’s designed to drive tourism up.
