I'm wondering about the magic kingdom roller roasters with my 6yr old timid son and adventurous 4 yr old daughter. I booked my fast passes which included Big Thunder and 7 dwarves. I also plan on riding barnstormer, but not space mountain. Are there are a lot of little ones on these coasters? I'm wondering if I need to re-arrange my plans/FP so I don't waste them. Thanks in advance.

Big Thunder and 7 dwarves... barnstormer...

Are there are a lot of little ones on these coasters?

Yes. Very much so, for the ones tall enough..

My dd rode Big Thunder when she was 5, she loved it. It's a little jerky, but not scary.

My fondest Disney memory is chasing my then 3-year old daughter back to the entrance of Space Mountain moments before midnight with her screaming "one more time Daddy" all the way.

If they're tall enough, let 'em ride.

little kids go on those rides all the time.
as long as they meet the height requirement and want to go on then there is not reason for them not to.
only you know your children and what they like and don't like so only you know what to do.

As far as coasters go the Disney coasters are really tame. Your kids will probably love them.

I would not consider 4 and 6 to be "little ones" for these attractions. Tall two year olds enjoy them all the time. I'm sure your kids will have a great time.

BTMRR has been a family favorite since I was a child and went with my younger siblings. My kids starred riding it as soon as they hit 40" (2-3yrs) and still love it. It's wild enough to be exciting for young kids, but very mild as far as "roller coasters" go. 7DMT was even more mild, so much so that my kids were not interested in riding more than once last trip.

Our 2-1/2 year old daughter loved Barnstormer the very first time we took her to WDW. I believe in part, that she had the confidence, because she believed that her parents would never let her do anything that would harm her. Also, we started her out slowly with It's a Small World, Peter Pan, and then moved up to Dumbo. We never showed one ounce of concern about anything. It's all about building confidence. While waiting in line for Barnstormer, I can still remember the concern that came across her face when she first heard the screams. We immediately distracted her, pointing out some arbitrary thing and her concern seem to disappear. She rode it again and again and loved it. As soon as she was tall enough for everything else, she had the confidence to ride them and loved them all. Just start them out slowly with Barnstormer and then 7-Dwarves, and then move up to Big Thunder. Children will watch every expression that you make and if you act or even think there might be an issue, there will be.

my timid not quite 4 year old LOVED 7 Dwarfs & Barnstormer. She was too short to ride Thunder Mountain. My non timid 5 year old Loved all three of those plus Space. Space can be scary since they have to ride by "themselves" (in a car with one person in front, one in back, but no one beside them) plus it's a dark ride. I would avoid it with a timid 6 year old personally. I think he'll be fine on the others!

Just FYI - my scaredy cat son won't ride BTMRR. Well, he has ridden it, but he hated it (and still talks about how much he hated it). It also affected his desire to go on a lot of other rides (if it even looks slightly fast, he questions it). He loved Barnstormer at 2 though. We'll try 7DMT on the upcoming trip and see if I can get him on.

So, I guess I would say, about your timid child, don't force it and maybe start with the smaller coasters and work up.

Every kid is different but those are the exact ones that my 5 year old went on and loved...Big Thunder Mountain, 7DMT and Barnstormer. We skipped Space Mountain, including my 9 year old as he didn't want a coaster in the dark. You can try riding in the front the first time as there is less speed going down the hill since the coaster won't "take off" until the back has reached the top.

My almost 5 year old LOVED Big Thunder, we rode it 15-20 times on our trip. She is just a bit over 40 and thought it was the best thing ever. She rode barnstomer after and was bummed because it was so short. She also like 7 dwarfs but liked big thunder much more.

If a child sees the coaster and decides they don't want to go on, you can have someone else use their band to get another FP ride.

We have almost the same set up, timid 6yr son and 3yr daughter. Having our daughter around makes our son braver. They both rode Barnstormer and 7 dwarves and loved them. My daughter wasn't tall enough to ride Big Thunder, so my son refused to ride it. Keep in mind that if either of them decides they don't want to ride and you are with another adult, you can get a rider swap pass so that both adults can ride and the child who wants to ride can ride twice.
