*roll Call * Nov.11, 07 Wonder

Hi! I posted a long time ago on this thread, or one of the other ones. We are traveling with all of our family, me, DH, DS6, DD4 and both sets of grandparents. It's getting closer and we are all ready for a break from reality!

I have a question. Is it too late to sign up for the pin trading event? Can you sign up on board? Is there a website somewhere that gives all the details? We are not really into pins, although last week at Animal Kingdom, we got a Pixie Dust pin for doing something nice and then, of course, we had to buy the kids lanyards and pins too. SOOOOO, will we feel left out if we don't participate in any of these events? I am kind of intrigued myself, but don't want to buy the package for the kids... maybe for my mom? But then MIL will feel leftout??

Anyways, life has been so busy lately I have not really even thought too much about the cruise and excursions etc. We did get Palo ressies, but not all at the same time. I am hoping to go onboad and try to get one for all of us at the same time and give up my exising ones...... hope that works.

Will try to check in more often!

Hi Garcia,
We have a DD(almost 4) we'll have to let them meet so they can play in the Lab together! Let me know if you cancel your Plao ressie....we couldn't get one. We aren't doing the PIN trading, but it will probably be alot of fun! Anyways, welcome aboard!!!

ok everyone we're going to be on the Nov 11th cruise and this is our 1st cruise. Not only that, but I've been so busy with work and kids lately that I just realized that we're less than a month away! I'm soooo excited! Though, I need help! What to pack? What to wear? and any other info would be greatly appreciate!

Thanks!
Michele:confused3

Welcome aboard Michele!!! Do you have any kids or are just the BIG kids coming?:cheer2:

We will have the cheap ($.97) lanyards from Wal Mart for our KTTW card. I'll print out a DIS member (oooh, I just made a Halloween pun, dismember, DIS member...get it?) card to go in the other side, and if everyone does the same, we'll be able to sort of spot everyone. It's getting kind of late in the game for me to make up pins and mail them out to everyone. So if everyone made their own with just plain paper or card stock, then we could meet on deck ten starboard (right) above the Goofy pool just before the sail away party. My DIS ID card would look like this:

I hate to sound dingy, but what is a lanyard? The meeting sounds great! We can toast to finally being on board after all this planning!!!!

I love the idea of a DIS member card. I'll be looking for you!

A lanyard is the thing that you wear around your neck with a little pouch to hold stuff (Like KTTW card and a little cash). Since ours are the cheapies from Wal Mart, they are plain black nylon to go around the neck with a semi-clear plastic zip closer pouch a little bigger than a credit card. You can buy much fancier ones on board that have a DCL logo around the neck part, but the cheap ones have worked for us the last 2 cruises, especially since that is the only place we'll need them.

I'm from the middle of nowhere (think cornfields for at least a mile in every direction of our house) in Central Illinois (Decatur is closest 'big' city). DD30 is from middle of nowhere in Western Illinois (Macomb area), DD27 is from Lexington, KY, DBF30 is from Bloomington, IL, and other DBF and her husband live in their RV full time and move to a different part of the country every 6 months.

Gotcha! I'll will be sure to wear mine! Great idea!

Butting in ...The last 3 cruises I have been on Nov 12, 2006, May2007, Aug 2007, so recently, and of varying lengths, all casteaway club members were given lanyards upon check-in, along with a couple of pins.

Alas, I am the only CC member in our party of 5, so we'll all be wearing the cheapie lanyards. We got the canvas bag on our last cruise in May 2006. I actually forgot about the CC member gifts! We don't collect pins, although it was tempting to sign up for the pin-trading to attend the events. I resisted the temptation, though.

Does anyone know if the 70's and 80's nights at the discos are worth attending? And does anyone know the cost of the rainforest room at the spa and is that worth it?? Appreciate any info....:flower3:

They are all worth in my opinion. I never miss a 70's or 80's night. Fun and funny--great dance numbers from main stage performers on 80's night...be their ON TIME for that. Also if your ship has a final "pub night" don't miss it--hilarious. I finally saw it after hearing about it on several cruises. I'm sorry I didn't see it earlier.

Rainforest, just a nice place to relax. Some go every night. I went once on the 14 day, and really loved it. It just didn't fit in the schedule. If you have another spa treatment, you can ask to see it, as I did, and they may comp you a visit, which they did for me. Sit on the stone loungers. They are warm and feel great.

Thanks for the info....I have been wanting to try both, but wanted to make sure staying up SO LATE to party:banana: would be worth feeling a little pooped the next day, but I guess that's what vacation is all about!! Generally, I need a vacation from my vacation!:cloud9:

They Do have hammocks and Oceaneers club on CC, so you can take a nap! Nothing is lovelier than snoozing on a hammock on a beach! Get off the boat early for a hammock and go down to where the water playground is. There are hammocks there. One of us usually gets off early while the other eats and helps the kids off. I have been on CC when ALL the chairs were taken.

I am so excited!

I got my Cruise Travel Kit and my Tickets today in the mail!!

So much of what I am reading, I had already learnt here on the boards - thanks so much for the great info.

22 days to go.
