ROL Standby vs ADR/FP

Last minute trip to AK on May 31st. We have always done AK as a half day park, but it is our favorite park. We have time to do one park while we are there for a night and we decided to do AK for the entire day and are excited about it. We have yet to do ROL (but have done FOP). There is 4 of us (DW, DS5, DS7, me).

It will be a busy day according to most crowd calendars, predicted anywhere from 7/10-8/10, and there are 2 shows scheduled, 9 something and 10 something. I would hate wasting a FP on this, and essentially killing any opportunity for trying for 4th FP while there for the day, and we love the QS food options at AK, so don't want to spend money for a dining package unless it's necessary.

Would it be feasible to attempt to do this standby, and if so how early would we need to line up for it? In comparison, how early would we need to line up for this via dining package/FP?

Was searching and didn't see any current information on how crowds are for this now, and was curious for opinions.

Thanks

Whether dining package, standby, or FP, I'd recommend getting into the theater about 45 min or more before showtime.

Being that's there's two shows, the second show will fill up slower so I'd attend that one and get there about 30 min before.

You can also likely get a FP an hour or two before showtime if that's something you'd want to do.

When we were there, there were same day FP for this show available most of the day, so that may be an option even if you wait until later grab them. We had a unique experience because it rained earlier in the day and kind of cleared the place out, so we walked in about 10-15 minutes prior to showtime and got second row seats. I think the general consensus, though, is to be there 45 minutes early.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like you're waiting regardless of having a guaranteed seat or not so we'll just chance the 4th FP and/or standby

Also keep in mind that you're not waiting in line, you go and grab your seat and wait there. They open up the arena about 90 min ahead of showtime

That is good to know, because I didn't realize that. I appreciate all of your help on this info CAS. Every search Ive done on this, you are sprinkled throughout in the different topics lol. Until this weekend I haven't read anything about this since its initial open. Hopefully it's worth the effort to see it. We're going to try and do the first showing to give us a chance to do an end of the night FoP possibly if we feel up to staying after closing time. If not, we're skipping FoP this trip (rode it in December).
