ROL preview vs my expectations.

Based on the fact this wasn't able to open on time I'm taking this "sneak peak" as a very very limited look at the whole thing. We didn't even see the narrators or know the context of anything. It looked beautiful to me though. The lotuses are very pretty. I won't judge it until I see a full show.

Wow, I gotta admit, I have been a big proponent of Disney over-promising and under-delivering since word first hit on FP+ and New Fantasyland. I truly think that is the first thing I have seen in years that has me excited and invokes that Disney magic and charm.

Sorry to those who didn't enjoy it, but while I'm intrigued to see these additional effects they promised at the beginning of the video, I thought that was utterly beautiful and could be breathtaking in person. Hope, hope, hope we get to see it on our upcoming trip. To me, it already blows Fantasmic and Illuminations out of the water (pun intended!).

Just hope Disney doesn't make me eat my words before it is all said and done, or upcharge for the experience because I'm hooked!

To me it's like watching a video of IllumiNations, Fantasmic or Wishes. These types of shows just aren't able to be captured properly using professional equipment let alone iPhones or iPads - there's no depth of view or surround sound. Shows like this are really only meant to be experienced live - the sights, sounds and smells in all its multi-dimensional glory. And don't forget the lingering mists that may make it's way over to the crowd - it's a show for almost all the senses.

That being said, maybe the lotuses could use just a little more height for the fountains, but I'm sure they will look fantastic in person.

In general, as with most of the shows, I am going to assume this is better in person than on a video. I hope that is the case. But compare watching Celebrate or Wishes or Illuminations on You Tube vs in person, if they were as good in person there wouldn't be any point in going to WDW :) I could just watch videos of it all day.

That being said, not sure this will live up to the hype based on the video, but I HOPE it does.

I do wonder how they will handle the wind ? Will this show be cancelled ? Will the water screens still work ?

Most of all I am just excited to be in AK at night. I love the park, the atmosphere, the smells, I really love it in AK ... I could just grab Frozen Chai Lattes and ride safari and EE for pretty much ever. But thats just me.

I was ready to hate it - but that 6 minute preview looks amazing to me! I love the music, the colors and the dancing waters are gorgeous, too. It looks like a great way to end a chaotic day at a park.

If there was any criticisms, I would say that the images on the water are not very crisp - I was not sure what I was looking at a few times. Could be the video quality, though, too..

I loved the sneak peak! I think this will be AWESOME once they get everything working!

No way I am watching that video. I like to be surprised. No point of going if I watch it now. Screen shot looks sweet though.
Same here. I'm not watching a single video of the show. Granted, I don't watch videos of anything at Disney, even things I've seen before. If it's something new, no way to I want to see it before I experience it with my own eyes

I can respect that I'm clearly the minority. But the video was almost 6 minutes of a reported 22 minute show. So 25+%... ?

(And it felt much longer.)

I hope you are right and it's better... But I feel far less disappointed to be missing it. :)
No matter what I do think it's a bad idea to judge the show solely based on a clip of a trial run of the show. It may not even be close to the final version

Hmmm. Never thought of that whatsoever. Because I've seen Wishes, etc. before and still want to see it again.

I'm also glad I saw Star Wars fireworks video too. I was expecting more there, too. Now I'm not going to be caught off guard. :)
Seriously? I'm not sure how it could possibly be more impressive. If you are not wowed by them then RoL will probably disappoint no matter what. The SW Fireworks are awe inspiring. It makes Wishes look like a back yard fireworks show on the 4th of July. And that's hard to type because I love Wishes so much

It's not underwhelming to me, but not exactly overwhelming either. I can't see staying after dark at AK just for this.
There is a lot more offered in AK after dark than RoL
Having experience a portion of what they are adding during Harambe Nights 2 summers ago it is very special. And the total of the new things is even more than the portions they are reviving from HN

For being a small sneak peak of a show that isn't finished yet . . .. I think it looked amazing, and can't wait to see it in person. I truly hope that it showing by the time we get there in August!

I somewhat agree with you. It looks visually beautiful, but not very exciting. I could see children being very bored watching this.

I like to watch things like this ahead of time to get an idea of what it is and if I feel it is worth it to take time out of my vacation to experience it. With so many things to do in Disney, I want to make sure I choose to do and experience the things I feel my family would enjoy the most.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but the part where it look like birds were flying out of the flowers was cool. Thanks for sharing OP.

Yes, it was difficult to see the water projections on the video. They probably looked much better in person.
I've seen pictures of the animal barges. They look beautiful.
This is only my guess, but I think ROL will be a more relaxing zen-type show. So it might not appeal to people who are expecting a wow zoom kind of show. For myself, a relaxing, beautiful show would be a perfect ending to a hectic day.
But we won't know anything for sure until it opens.
