At $94 for BLT it kills me not to buy more points. I could sell my AUL for a healthy profit(bought for $70pp) and come close to exchanging it for the same price pp of BLT.
That is a crazy price, and I wonder if they had some huge point outliers that affected the average for 200+ points. It could be worth selling Aulani in that situation though!

My AUL points are for SAP, so it could make sense to make the switch. My concerns though are that I hear selling AUL as an INTL is a pain and the American dollar is 25%higher than when I bought my AUL contract. It makes a big difference.

There has been a FLOOD of Aulani that has hit the market over the last two weeks. So it likely wouldn’t sell quickly without a seriously low price.

Thanks, I had read that there had been a lot of Aulani hitting the market. If I get a higher price, it probably would just complicate the tax consequences. So I would probably just strip it and sell it dirt cheap. I would try to find out from Andy, what the best approach might be. Between the 15% withholding and the 7.5% from Hawaii, that is 22.5% that will be kept that I assume is easy enough to get back if I didn't make a profit, but if I make a profit, maybe its tough to get it back?

BLT $95 <--that most be a big contract outlier, but low $120s sounds about right. AUL $91-103, AKL $94-105
I saw that and kind of regretted paying 110$ pp last summer for a 400 point loaded BLT contract. At the time, we were a little worried about ROFR at that price but clearly they are not interested in buying back BLT currently. Then I comforted myself by reminding myself that we have 8 nights in a poly bungalow this spring. I still would like to know the details on those larger BLT contracts.

I have bought two BLT contracts, both for a rock bottom price at that time. Now I look back and think ugh, $160 and $130pp, blech. With that said, $160 was with 2 years of no dues points, triple points and the CDN dollar was 20% higher, $130 with 1 year of no dues, plus double points. So it doesn't work out that much higher but still......

I have conveniently blocked out what we paid for our prior BLT resale in 2020. It was much more than 110$. Hindsight is always perfect and we are very content with our BLT resales. But still…95$ pp.

Well, all a non-issue. I offered $90 with all fees paid by me and the seller declined with no counter, so that makes that easy. I figured with them asked $130 that they are expecting too much and wouldn't want my offer, but it has been up for a while, so I thought it was worth a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I wish I could do that with my brain. I am a numbers guy, it kills me not to pay the lowest price possible. With the $160PP it was easy because I rented out the 2 years of free points for $20 pp, so it cost $120 net when DVC Resale Market avg price was in the $180's. $130 fully loaded which was the lowest price on the ROFR page at that point, but I figured it would go lower. I rented the free points for $20 pp again, so $110 net. Then rented the current year as well, so that was a profit of $13pp, so $97pp net.

I already feel the same way with our SSR sometimes but then I remember the extra years of points we got, as you note above, and realize we actually did really well. Those expiration dates aren’t changing and the dues also increase each year so I think there’s lots of value in getting in earlier.

Yes often when you plug high per point cost upfront vs low cost per point upfront the price per point over the life or price per year is not as much of a savings as some may think, length of ownership plus due makes a huge difference in overall cost. So loaded contracts with longer ownership is a better value even if paying much more per point in the beginning.

And no, the identical contracts are not a typo..... I got twins!!! 😍

But in other news, some of yall who follow this board may remember my issue with my recent AKL contract where I was emailed that my contract passed ROFR but then was emailed later and told it was actually taken. WELL, the same brokerage told me the seller was paying the service fee for these twins but told the seller I was paying the service fee for them 😞
If I wouldn't have read my contract, I wouldn't have seen they were charging me for the fee.
They made it right bc now they are waiving the service fee but of course, it wasn't without me pushing the matter.

I've come to the conclusion I just have bad luck. But hey, now neither I nor the sellers have to pay that ridiculous fee! 🥳

I had my eye on those! I actually think this is a ridiculous deal. Too good.

I was on these too! Congrats! Especially since the fee got waived.
